Beautifully shot and done! What a story celebrating these unsung heroes behind this great event.
I loved this short documentary! Ball people really are the unsung heroes of a tennis tournament. Sometimes, they get the brunt of some arrogant tennis players and sometimes, there's that pressure and attention on them to get the ball as fast as they can when it comes to certain key points. What they do is not easy.
Yeah, when you can cut the tension with a butter knife and you don't even realize they're there.
The choice of using contrabassoon for the score is pure chaos and I'm here for it
What a beautifully filmed and edited video!! You guys really told an interesting story in such a unique and beautiful way 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 super props to the whole team and ofcourse all the awesome ball people
I know a couple of ball ppl, literally one of the ppl in this video I hit with.
They say for PR that they take all ages. The reality if u see this years crew (and I've already seen most of them at matches & quallys) there's a couple of token 40+ yr olds...but about 95% seem to be under 25
Cool directing and production in this video. I enjoyed the jazzy chaotic score when it showed the hustle and bustle of the ballpeople during tryouts
I absolutely loved this short documentary! It means so much to be a member of the Ball Crew. It's a big deal. To be part of the crew for your favorite tennis player has to be an honor. Mine would be Rafael Nadal.
Great story and editing. Newfound appreciation for ball people!
Beautiful video. I remember moving to Florida and learning to play tennis when I was 10 and all of those memories came flooding back. I love this game.
Honestly my favorite job I've ever had! Amazing people and memories
Which one did you do?
Wes Anderson needs a movie about ball people
This film deserves an award
This is a beautiful documentary.
wonderful video GQ. Didn't think you had in you
These people are all so positive
Why is this so well made
absolutely stunning. love love love this so much
4:00 speaking FACTS - i might apply next year lol @ 43
I’m 30 and have a beard so they probably would never take me lol, but I grew up playing tennis and loved the time I was able to attend the US Open. It would be pretty cool to take a couple weeks off in the summer to do this once!
This was a beautiful film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Feel like I just got treated to art when I was expecting clickbait!
I feel calm poised and ready to try out tbh
That first song’s tone was so fitting for the movie it was……. Breathtaking. Then when the piano notes hit and the shots of the tennis balls bouncing…. Expressing a light bubbling hopefulness and the joy of things moving. Wow
I’m going to try out!!
i really want to apply next year
*So charming that it’s open to all ages! Unique to the US*
This was awesome. I need to go back to the open!
where i live, theres a challenger tournament. I was ball boy. It was a really fun experience
Open to any age, but they pick all young people
Well said. I know a couple of ball ppl, literally one of the ppl in this video I hit with.
They say for PR that they take all ages. The reality if u see this years crew (and I've already seen most of them at matches & quallys) there's a couple of token 40 yr olds...but about 95% seem to be under 25
It should be for kids, especially young tennis players to inspire them to keep playing
Who made this? Absolutely stunning
Scott Lazer! He’s amazing

This was fun because I didn’t know people were excited or had dreams of being ball crew and that’s cool. When I played tennis I hated getting the balls so maybe that’s why 😂
How does that lady not remember whether or not she’s seen 2001
Still more skillful than pickleball!
Its nice that they opened it up for all ages, but it's clear they chose the younger ones.
I noticed at the tournament in Cleveland, the Ball People were all "Older Adults". Is there an age requirement for this position?
depends on the tournament
Probably because they're volunteers. US open ball persons get paid a hourly wage.
Yorgos?
Filming and editing is great! Maybe next time do this about something that actually matters???
What’s the oldest ball person?
Kramer
I couldnt tell if this was satire or not lol
I feel like it barely talked about what it takes to be a ball person. Maybe focus more on becoming a ball person less artsy shots.
🎾🎾🎾
The choice of music was a little strange. Quite stressful to watch.
Sunday I got Bo Jackson’s autograph
This hardly shows what it’s like to be a US open ballperson. You want stories talk to me. This was boring. Also it been open to all ages forever. Only the last 5 years do they mostly take younger.
I love this video but the music is terrible!
This is one of the most silly videos I have ever seen
"ball people", how progressive!
😂
as opposed to what? are they not people?
@@isthatrubble they used to be called ball kids
@@miguelcanais but they're not kids..... I don't understand why it's progressive to call a group of humans of mixed ages and sexes "people". what else could you possibly call them?
