I loved the „probably?!?“ from Ms. Doddy 😂 The old jackets made me think about what is the oldest bit of kit I still really use. A video with „the oldest ... I still use“ in various categories would be fun.

When it comes to packs for any exercise, I've always been picky, the more lightweight and vest-like fit it is, the better. Absolutely love the Salomon advanced skins. Feels like a vest when not loaded up and has the ability to stuff loads of things in if necessary. Although it tends to be running specific it works a charm when I'm out on my bike

Agreed on the ME7. Love my original ones and they are lasting really really well. I’ve never felt any discomfort from them and the dry quickly. The only downside is the ventilation is very good so in freezing conditions they can be cold. I have some AM5s for these colds days - which I originally bought for commuting.

The thing with reservoir pumps is that you can get shop compressors cheaper, which are more convenient in a workshop. The only way I would consider a reservoir pump being worthwhile is for using them for maintenance at races, where they make more sense than in a workshop where electricity is readily available.

    • @Pesmog
      @Pesmog 3 года назад +1

Agree, a conventional workshop compresor with a small tank is much better and often cheaper if you have the space and can handle the noise. They are easier to use to blow out tubeless tyres onto the rims and have other uses such as inflating car tyres and tools such as impact guns, air ratchets and paint sprayers.

Brilliant video. Also have a thing for jackets and still have the same park allen key set! For me, favourite kit includes a Sprayway Microlight gilet from C. 2001 thats still going strong. Always hated riding (or running) in full jackets unless properly raining, and this had kept wind, showers and spray off my core for years. Not superlight by modern standards, probably why it’s still going. Also still running the same gen3 goretex paclite jacket again from 2002ish. Got it free from a testing weekend run by Magicalia websites, it’s mostly worn but can’t bare to bin it. Also, Time pedals! Loved the Atacs with the snap on cover when I was young, I’ve run Shimano, Crank, nukeproof etc over the years, but always end up back on Time. Sram, don’t you dare ruin them!

Doddy, I love your videos to bits, in fact I love the whole GMBN crew and the great content you publish... You guys do an amazing job and I know how difficult it is to keep quality content flowing. I think you are one of the most articulate presenters out there, you can make it amazingly easy to listen to even a mundane task such as cleaning a bike for 10 minutes... :) I just wish you have not fallen prey to thumbnail clickbaits and made those funny faces. I know it's a proven fact that they attract more views, people are interested in extreme facial expressions and bla bla... but I just hope that GMBN audience is a bit more educated than that... I am sorry for the rant on here, but I have a strong personal dislike about this kind of thumbnail and I thought I should just put it out there that it's having the opposite effect on some of your loyal audience. Cheers!

As I remember, Klein had internal tube in tube cable routing in the 90’s. I had a 1996 Attitude in red over gold that routed the cables thru plastic conduits within the frame. Worked perfectly. A girl called Angela Kennedy (living in Oxford or Reading) stole that bike from me in 2001 and sold it for 300 quid to some lucky bastard. If anybody knows what happened to it, I’ll pay $1000 for it to be returned.

Hi Doddy, like your self , I have my go to sure things. So many you can not get anymore. On the Gortex front I still have from the early 90's , but it in no way does it fit anymore, a Gortex vest by Gore clothing. Basically it was a vest, gilet style, very thin, that I would put on over my head and over my base layer in the winter. This basically meant no matter what I would wear on top, layers, short sleeved, thermal, long sleeved. On days where temperatures could fluctuate from hot on the climb where it breathed to nipple freezing descents where it blocked the chill, it was a leveler. Akin to old school news paper, but technically way more brilliant. ✌🏻

I live this sport, I really do. But man it has a way of ripping a hole in your bank account. I rode BMX for years and even if you want to custom build up a bike with all top of the line components that you have hand picked. It's only like $1,500 to get everything exactly the way you want it.
With MTB $1500 gets you a capable hard tail and that's about it. Then it doesn't come with pedals. Then it might not come with tubeless tires or a dropper post. Then you'll probably want proper riding gear. You'll start taking on harder trails where a single bottle of water isn't enough so you need a hydration pack. Then you decide that a hip pack would be better suited.
Then you decide your hardtail is holding you back and drop $5,000 on a full suspension lol. This sport really isn't for the poor. It's an amazing sport that you can do for most of your life. You'll meet great people, build amazing memories and stay in shape. But goddamn does it come at a price lol.

"it has nothing to do with our sponsors" and continues showing products from the channel sponsors only! Esp. the topeak booster is the most overrated useless stuff. If you inflate tyres often -- buy a compressor. If you have 2-3 bikes and occasionally a tyre refuses to seat with a regular pump -- just waste a CO2 canister! Everybody with a tubeless should have a CO2 kit, and a canister is cheaper and more eco than this abomination of a pump. And CO2 seats tyres that compressors can't -- the quickest way to shoot maximum amount of gas in a tyre!

Everything functions properly ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of RUclips. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!

I like the video. I also like that you have a lot of years/experience with mountain biking. I’ve been mountain biking for only 3 yrs now and I wanted to know how do you set up your biking shoes? Is there a rule for setting up your shoes for getting the most out of them?
    Thank you
    Will

As other people have said "Probably?" was completely unexpected and is still making me smile while I type this out. That was comedic timing señor!

Pack a $20 bill for the roadside repair rider who is carrying the tool you needed but didnt remember to pack.
Pack a $100 bill for the local bike shop you end up at unexpectedly.

I got the topeak pump after seeing you mention it and seeing all the reviews. Might be different elsewhere but I was having a hard time finding a compressor attachment that can do presta besides the park tool one.
Couldn't find it locally would've needed to order from the US and deal with customs etc, would've been the same price as the topeak. Even though I already have a great compressor. Figured rather have it separate. Can throw the pump in the car easily and bring it along. Compressor is to heavy to move around with.

Just this weekend I had to do some internal cable wiring on a bike with absolutely no channels. Found this very helpful video on the sister channel, GCN. Basically you seal all holes with tape. Put a piece of string in one hole and a vacuumer on the exit whole. Got it in first try. ruclips.net/video/QZaGL83RMFI/видео.html

Hey I have the same old Park Tool hex set as I recognized the older model as it has a metal tab sticking out of one side. It's at least 20 years. I have always wanted to know what the little button/peg on the side of the handle is for if anyone knows. **Edit- its for picking up chain**
