In playing this one, I chose to side with Stephan as I liked the idea of an aggressive player keeping some of the enemies off my back. Besides, in this scenario, the locals when you have built the monasteries, will supply you with resources. I applaud your attempt in converting the generals. BTW, Ornlu, you said you do not like it when certain enemy stuff are revealed, I believe that it is useful because the last thing you want trying to do accomplish an achievement and accidently failing to do it by killing the unit, especially if you need to find it within a specific time or wasting so much time looking for it, such as a Relic.
They tell you to research ferreters which is completely impossible. Strange on its own but then in the next mission ferreters is inexplicably disabled!
I agree with you Ornlu, I had the same thoughts in this campaign about handholding. It was almost obnoxious in ROR campaigns, and it hits hard in this one as well. But this is the 1 sword difficulty campaign, and is fairly easy, so it makes sense to be kind of dumb down, like Devapala or Tamerlane. But the next one, Ismail (♥Bassi) is just right, as always with Bassi, and hits everything right so far (I only completed two scenarios so far).
I also agree with Ornlu's and your take. But as far as 1 sword difficulty campaigns go I thought this one was pretty good overall. It definitely had moments of 'trying to show every objective instead of making the player figure things out' especially in the 4th senario.
I do like the decisions at the beginning of the scenarios in that they provide good replay value. I chose Mleh (Mleehhh!) the first time but looking forward to trying it with Stephan. Thanks as always, Ornlu, for the entertaining video.
I wonder how you are supposed to get access to the Fereters tech. I did all side objectives and didnt get anything. Maybe thats only for the easier difficulties? Or maybe this was supposed to be an Imp scenario and they changed it but forgot to change the Hints? Also fun fact: This scenario has a weird bug where Purples units dont change color/ player name after being converted but they sill act like they are yours
I picked Stephan he's pretty damn good at handling the eastern flank himself and keeping you able to be focused onbuilding up and defending only the west
i thought you'd go with stephan, with the line of thought of you can get extra resources yourself, but you can only make so many soldiers, where he would fill in some numbers
I only just noticed the added tab with the original campaigns since I only played the Return of Rome campaigns since the release this year. What rock have I been sleeping under? Are there any new added features ect?
Enjoying these scenarios. But when I played today as Stephen, there appears to be a bug in this scenario - you cannot see the contents of buildings. Yesterday played as Mleh and no bugs.
I mean yes, the highlighting on the map where your objectives are is helping the player a lot, but if we were a real general, we would also get a scouted map where the enemy positions are marked, so it feels a bit more organic than having an all black map of your supposed homeland or the land you intend to cover. Also, the original campaigns were pretty much just "destroy a castle and town center" while the newer ones are so much more intricate and complex with side objectives or different approaches. A bit of hand-holding is necessary, or you end up totally baffled at how to kill the king in Bayinnaung 1, unless you know that you can walk through a hidden path in the forest that is totally hidden to the player if they don't know it exists.
Same for me, they even ignore my villagers just to kill the carts. Also with castles and town centers, the AI oftentimes ignores my villagers just to kill those buildings.
We got The Emperor Sleeping, The Emperor's Fury, and now The Emperor's Revenge. Sure being an Emperor in AoE2 campaign is tough.
And we have the achievement: "The Emperor Strikes Back"
@@alejandroortiz3227 Also "Bohemond and the Emperor"
Think of all the different containers we could put emperors in!
I went with Stephan. He really does help you out when going on the offensive and puts pressure on the close enemies, in this case the Hethumids
Yeah, he's pretty valuable just for keeping the northeastern enemies off your back.
so true
Loved that scenario, went with ya boy Stephan because he's so aggressive, it's good to have a competent ally for a change
What I found pretty helpful is that Mleh (love the name) will build castles and towers in the eastern enemy camps when you defeat them.

I think this emperor should be Manuel I Komnenos, but unfortunately he doesn't seem to have a name in the game.
Yes it was Manuel I who had to deal with Thoros, while John II, his father, had captured him and had taken Cilicia

Well I guess Mr Chatillon will be back

It says this on Fandom
Since Fereters is an Imperial Age technology and the player is restricted to the Castle Age, this hint should be ignored

Hey ornlu, not sure if aoe announced it but I noticed they released two new campaigns in return of Rome.
I only just noticed the added tab with the original campaigns since I only played the Return of Rome campaigns since the release this year. What rock have I been sleeping under? Are there any new added features ect?
@@gerriejordaan8385 don’t know about new features. I haven’t played them yet but the scenario name seems different from the original aoe.
30:20 Aquaba: Help! Crusaders are attacking our trade routes!
The signs of Sanctity of the Armenian Relics the Feteres Relique on chariots where the Monk is sitting

The castles remind me of Harrenhaul from Game of Thrones haha
the tactics of the Armenian Archers and that of disguising themselves in Trees
4:00 I like how u spell it 🤣
6:45 Agree 😅
So you'll have to play again, but choosing Stephan.
Let´s Gooo
do the ai just lock on to the mulecarts becuse they wont leave them alone for me
Same for me, they even ignore my villagers just to kill the carts. Also with castles and town centers, the AI oftentimes ignores my villagers just to kill those buildings.
The AI will go out of it's way to send rams to kill your carts. It's pretty funny ngl.
not when i have no gold@@TheJimmy11
I find it weird that you can "build" a mulecart. Why not have it so you can make it in the TC, like in AoM.. 🤔
They probably saw how disruptive it was for the earlygame villager queue for the Norse
Could've called it the emperor strikes back, close enough reference
Ornlu has too much playing.
3 campaigns to DE version, and 2 campaigns to AoE 1(AoE2DE engine).
I created knights in this mission as in the missions in imperial age, they are worthless for Armenians.
