Love the laser work. They look like fun to use and I agree it'll make a great addition to your wood shop. Great job Huw. Time for a 3rd cup. Have a great day my friend!
Thanks Randy, They are so much fun and when I finally work out a few other ways that it can be used it opens up even more avenues for me.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
Well Huw I guess I will need to set my alarm to have a chance to be first or just not go to bed LOL!
You have shown that the Laser Pecker 2 will indeed cut. Looks like it has done what you bought it for and that is a good thing.
Take care, Hwyl and see ya later,
Gary
Thanks Gary, As I've said before it was a big investment for me but I couldn't be happier with this machine.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
Brilliant it managed to cut through, brilliant bit of kit Huw! 😃
Thanks Val, It will actually cut thicker pieces but would obviously take ore time to do.
Thanks again Val and take care.
Cheers, Huw
It looks awesome.
It is a really great Laser and it's portable as well.
Take care Micky.
Cheers, Huw
Hey Huw that is a nice addition to your workshop, you will make a lot of beautiful things with it.
Hi Hans, It has proven to be one of the best things I have bought for my workshop and the fact it is portable so I take it to my craft fairs is a big advantage.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
Great, very interesting!!!
Thanks Mauro, Glad you liked it.
It is a great little laser.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
I never thought of getting interested in laser cutting. But as we are now in the process of selling our workshop (and house) it might well be that all of the projects in the future have to be of a smaller scale (depending on the size of the new workshop to be). Cutting without sawdust just becomes more appealing. So thanks for sharing the experiments Huw. All the best from the Lonesome Hill,
Gerrit
Thanks Gerrit, I didn't really have any interest in using Lasers until I saw this one and because it is portable I take it to my craft fairs and engrave Bamboo Pens in front of the customers and they love seeing the process.
Hope you find your new home and it has a decent space for you to work in.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
That second one turned out great Huw 😊❤
Thanks Heather, It was a huge improvement, and I learned a lot from this attempt.
Take care Heather.
Cheers, Huw
Excellent. Can't wait to see how you are going to use it on your pens.
Thanks Mike, I haven't used it yet on any pens I have made but have done hundreds of bamboo pens at craft fairs and customer love to see the process and when I'm engraving it does bring people to my table.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
Another great video man 😄😄
Thanks so much MASI.
Appreciate it.
Take care.
Cheers, Huw
Great job Huw. I've been considering a Lazerpecker for my products such as serving boards, turkey calls and bowls
Thanks David, This one is primarily limited to 4" by 4" unless you use Trolly or Slab Modes which I haven't shown yet.
There is a LaserPecker 4 just about to be released and the LX1, I believe it's called, which is a folding gantry type laser. Goole should be able to find them for you.
Thanks for watching as ever my friend.
Take care David.
Cheers, Huw
Very nice piece of kit Huw I'm sure you'll find lots of uses once you've mastered it
Thanks Jonathan, I'm getting better using it but still not quite got the cutting part properly yet, but I will get there.
Take care Jonathan.
Cheers, Huw
very interesting Huw, I could use one of these but think I've got enough on...lol cheers mate take care
Thanks Grahame, It is a superb piece of kit and I'm sure you could not sleep for a few hours and have some fun instead. LOL.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
Pretty cool toy Huw!
Thanks JoJo, It certainly is.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
Nice video Huw.
I haven't used my LP2 for cutting yet, just engraving.
Will give it a try one of these days, when I have some wood of appropriate thickness.
Wes @ Piedra Designs
Thanks Wes, The only thing I would say is if you are cutting if you are cutting at the outer limits the cut will be at an angle and not straight.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
That is a nice laser
Thanks Chris, It really is and I love it.
Take care Chris.
Cheers, Huw
Getting there with the laser , hope it works out well for mate. Cheers Steve
Thanks Steve, Yes I'm getting there but still a lot to learn.
Hope you had a great break.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
New toys are fun!!
Thanks Luie they really are especially when you find out what they can do.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
@@WoodenItBeNice someday I will set up mine ☺️
@@spindlesworkshop9744 Looking forward to seeing you use it.
I'll PM you.
What an amazing machine Huw, I can't wait to see what you make with it. I bet it was expensive. One of the ads in the video was for one of them, the algorithm must think I need one 😂🤔🤔
Thanks Andy. I bought it and use it mainly for my Craft Fairs and it is proving to be very successful.
I'm sorry you had adverts during it. I am not monetised but YT changed their policy a while ago and stated that even if not monetised they still had the right to put adverts on Channel's Videos.
Try Adblock Plus i have it, it's free and I don't get any adverts on anything I watch.
The full set up I have cost me nearly £1100 but it has paid for 65% of the price back so far from profit from sales.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
@@WoodenItBeNice that's a great investment. Can't wait to see what else you make with it. AJ
@@ajinfrance👍👍
Very nice Huw
Thanks Chris, appreciate it.
Take care.
Cheers, Huw
Fascinating ! If I had one like yours, I'd rig it up on the lathe's tailstock and burn my logo directly on the bowl while still on the lathe. But one costs as much as my lathe ! eek ! I suppose you realize tis better o engrave the logo first & then cut it out eh ? Take care my friend. -Mike
p.s. it looks like it actually cut at an angle - if true, maybe that's how to do economy bowls (albeit it tiny ones) or even marquetry inlays. Maybe.
Thanks Mike, It can be hand held against the bottom of a bowl to engrave a logo.
Yes it did cut at an angle (well spotted) it's because the laser is stationary in the unit and the beam is moved by mirrors (one of the reasons it is so quick) so when you get to the outer limits the laser is no longer vertical and so cuts at a slight angle.
The main thing I wanted to do was show the cutting as I've already shown some engraving so the logo was an afterthought.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
@@WoodenItBeNice *afterthoughts* are a good thing ! 👍😎
@@mpart_woodlathe-stuff Yes indeed
Huw, I wonder if a fan blowing across the top of the plywood would cut down on the scorching? No idea, but I guess that's the way air-assist works. Your logo coins are going to be very cool! Enjoy your LP2! 😃
Phil
Thanks Phil, I have no idea either. Because the Laser is over 4" above the workplace I don't know if it will work.
I will try it though.
Thanks for the suggestion and l'll let you know.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
@@WoodenItBeNice Yeah, it's up high but the idea is just to blow away the soot build up and to keep the cutting area clean and cool. It would probably have to be a pretty powerful fan, though. Who knows? 😃
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop I might try and work on a solution to this problem.
Hi Huw...
Great job with the logo coins...
But don't get me going on technology.... but I'm glad that you enjoy using it... Haha...
Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Thanks Andy, I really do like using this Laser and I will dial in the logo coins properly.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
Normally an air assist is the answer to avoid scorching but with your laserhead being so far from the wood, I am not sure how an air assist will work. If possible, run a test board. you select many different speeds and power settings to determine the optimal setting. I good setting will be at a lower power level with multiple passes but may cause less scorching. I like your little laser though. Very convenient looking!
Hi Both, There are some vents next to the laser head which do blow some air but I can't see how an air assist could be placed for this laser.
Lower power and more passes would certainly work and I have tried that since doing the video and it did help.
Take care both and thanks for watching and commenting, really appreciate it.
Cheers, Huw
Decent bit of kit that, what's the max size you can goto?
I need to upgrade my LP1 I think
Thanks Woody, I'm so happy with it.
Maximum size is 100m by 100 mm but that can be extended when you use Trolley or Slab Mode which I haven't shown yet.
The LP4 is being released very soon and looks amazing but a bit pricey for me.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
@@WoodenItBeNice yeah they not cheap but handy to have...great for doing logos to fill the recess when turning a bowl
@@woodys_woodwork My set up cost around £1100 in total and the LP4 is around £1800 I believe.
It looks very interesting huw .How do you find it value for money ?
Thanks Ahron, It was quite expensive to buy at over 26,600 Rand but it has paid 64% of the cost from profit of sales made so I'm really happy with it.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
Good morning Huv, is it expensive?
Hi Micky about £1100 for all the bits I bought.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
Hi l bought those bamboo pens 6:26 how do you get the clip off can you just add it to your next video
Hi Ian, The clips just pull off towards the back of the pen, but some can be quite stiff to get off.
Thanks for watching and take care.
Cheers, Huw
There is another comment from you on this video;
Hi how do you get the top part of???
For some reason I can't reply.
Which top part Ian?
Take care.
Cheers, Huw
Hi Huw. I got them off so l can start working on them tomorrow. It’s easy when you know how.
Regards lan
@@user-pc1ml4zg6b Good news.
Cheers, Huw
Another play or 2 and you’ll have your maker coin down. It’s going to be a great tool for you. Have fun.
Thanks Doug, That's the idea as well as wooden calling cards.
Take care my friend and your 1st live is on my list to watch.
Cheers, Huw
I'm rather surprised how far away it is from the work piece Huw. Shouldn't take you long to get used to the settings mate
Regards Conor
Thanks Conor, It's calibrated to work at 110mm from the surface which is quite a distance.
I getting better at it now LOL.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
Hello Huw,
Now we all have a laser engraver. I love crafts. I didn't want to use such technologies. But now we have succumbed to technology. These machines are of great convenience. and can be used for a number of different jobs. I like your machine. The features are pretty cool. all the best. Big greetings. Kind regards. Your friend Mehmet.. Cheers Huw
Hi Mehmet, The reason I bought my LP2 was I thought it would give me a different range of items I could display and sell at my craft fairs
It has proven to be very popular especially as I can engrave in front of the customer so they can see what they are buying being engraved.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
What type of word is it?
Hi Anika, I'm not sure what you mean.
Take care.
Cheers, Huw
Nice one mate. BTW.... Lol
HAHAHAHA!!!! Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
Now, cutting out lovely snowflakes and whatnot is all very well but you're not realising a laser's full dramatic potential. You need to stick down a wee model of James Bond, legs akimbo, and then have the laser come slowly towards him and then shout 'No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!' I mean, who wouldn't watch that? Cheers Goldfinger... sorry, Huw. Huw Goldfinger.
you got that right
@@danceswithaardvarks3284 Also you might shake your fist and shout FULL POWER!! like Richard Montlban in The Wrath of Khan. Any others?
Thanks Mark, I really did miss a trick there. LOL.
Certainly did Mike.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
Hahaha, I'm sure you will think of some Mark.
