I've been flying with iFly for a few years now. It is hands down the most affordable and feature packed efb. Great to see the devs on the show. I'm a big fan of iFly especially because you get included features that would cost much more with Foreflight.

Love your philosophy of not making major changes for existing users, we get used to doing things then all of a sudden they ( other apps) introduce something completely different more bells and whistles but then you find issues. For me reliability is number one.

Way back in the mid 80's I wrote a simple program that did flight planning. Had a database of VOR & Airports you could input winds aloft store aircraft parameters and it would do a flight plan to almost anywhere. It was all written for thes TRS-80 model 1 in TRS Basic. I put the code out back then on BULLETIN BOARDS and later on the Net. It was a little difficult to carry the TRS-80 Model 1 in the cockpit. Long time ago. Great to see Compaction for 4flt.

As a "Rusty Pilot" working on getting get up once again, IFly GPS looks like the perfect companion app. The best part is not being restricted to expensive iOS platform, a sub $200 Android Tablet will work and won't have to reach quite as deep in the wallet.
UPDATE: Special Issuance was granted in February...I'm back up with CFI getting current. I'm using iFly on an Alldocube 8.4" Android Tablet and my Stratux ADS-B.

I have been using iFly since the introduction of the iFly700, which I still keep in the cockpit for backup, with my main being the iFly 740. I also use a Lenovo tablet running Android and iFly. I cannot say enough about how good the iFly product has been over the years. Support has also been very good. The use of the iFly GPS has been and still is very easy to use, or intuitive as they say. The unit also does all the things and more than some of the most expensive products on the market do. I currently have my unit linked WIFI to my Lynx GT-9000 in the cockpit and it works flawlessly with the 740 and the Android tablet. Just a great product.

I started with the iFly 720 around 7-8 years ago. Use it in my J3 off 12v gell cell batt. It is very intuitive and even all the updates didn't take much time to adjust to them. Finally after 8 years, the 720 just got slow and took forever to boot up. I was seeing it age, so I parted ways with the 720 a few months ago. I'm now using an older model Android tablet and it is much quicker and seems to work fairly well. I still would like to upgrade again, but I think a better tablet is the way to go.
@12:18, on the video, are you saying the 740B won't look the same as the multi platform iOS, Android, Windows application being run on tablet, phone, iPad with the new software release???? Can you possibly restate if that is the true?
i realize the tables, etc are multi use devices, but for me, I'd wipe out as much as I could on a new tablet and make *that* my dedicated device.
I've flown with others using Foreflight, and most of what I observe is the pilot is looking far to much tweaking this and that with little attention looking outside- there is almost to much overload of information.

The very reason I went with an iFly 740 GPS is because unlike a tablet, this thing was built from the ground up for aviation and only aviation. Simply handling it, you can sense that it is a rugged piece of hardware. It's the perfect size for a small aircraft, and is extremely intuitive. I am approaching 70 years of age and I am not tech savvy at all, yet I was able to navigate the iFly 740 without any stress at all. If there is a manual for it, I never saw it nor needed it. I simply began using it. Some of the younger ones out there who grew up in the tech world may look forward to complexity, but when you are bouncing around (literally) in the very real world of aviation and you want high quality, accuracy, plus simplicity and reliability, (the confidence it will be working properly when you really need it to be) you cannot beat the iFly 740 GPS. Great support as well.
