I'd say I speak for a lot of fans but I would really like to see the first 3 Wipeouts remastered in high definition, and the not so poplar Wipeout Fusion. Wipeout Fusion in my opinion was HIGHLY underrated and deserved more love.
I remember getting HD when sony f'ed up and had to say sorry for getting everyone's accounts hacked.

Wipeout is the best futuristic racer and I don't think it will ever be beaten (I really do hope I'm proven wrong, but I've never seen a more solid formula in this type of game). Dammit, now I want a PS4.

F Zero for the GameCube certainly can make a case for itself, as it’s a great game with a similar sense of speed, but I ultimately agree with you. I think this Wipeout collection is futuristic arcade racing perfected.
I had never played WipEout before I picked this up after seeing some footage of it, I totally have gotten addicted to it. The music blends so well with the gameplay, and it's fun learning and becoming comfortable with each different track. The controls are tight, the visuals and environments are gorgeous, each ship type feels distinct... I can't believe it took me this long to get into WipEout, but I'm now a fan.
I'm so sad that Studio Liverpool is gone. I've been keeping up with Redout and Formula Fusion, but I really want a new official Wipeout
They need to incorporate a "must regularly take mdma" into the hiring process for these games again. Then they will sell. I miss this series. They were the epitome of what made the PSX cool.
I've never touched drugs, but Wipeout made me realize that the future is inherently psychedelic. it makes perfect sense that rave culture and futurism are a match made in heaven. hope that didn't sound incredibly pretentious lol
For the asking price this collection is pretty awesome. I already got my money's worth from Wipeout 2048 alone.

HellfireWZ is a channel that has tons and tons of stuff on WipEout. You can watch him talk about the backstory for everything and how HD Fury and later works. Amazing channel, would highly recommend.
I also very much agree with you that this is a very underrated game. I am picking up a copy of WipEout Fusion (2002, PS2) since I haven't played that release yet. WipEout Pure was amazing though.
Just get every WipEout game, you will not regret the $100+ you spent.
WipEout 3 SE is where it's at!
Fusion is kind of the black sheep of the Wipeout family. It's not that it's a *bad* game - it just doesn't really fit in with any of the rest in terms of art style, presentation, or handling. It almost reminds me more of SNES F-Zero than it does Wipeout - maybe it's just that you can see the pilots' helmets leaning left and right as you steer.

Suu If you play Fusion, be prepared for the Bloody Bulkheads.

I wish they would redo the first three games in the series and put them on here. The early titles had a certain surrealism born from both hardware limitation and art/sound direction. Although the newer titles seem to lack that surrealism, I'm grateful Sony hasn't forgotten about one of their first and finest franchises.

This game is amazing! I just got it for my PS5 and it blew me away, it looks incredible and is a blast.
Yup Wipeout is a phenomenal series, wish they remastered the original Wipeout, Wipeout XL, Pure & Pulse on PS4 somewhat of a compilation disc with a completely remastered graphics facelift that, would be awesome.
F Zero Gx for the GameCube will forever be my favorite racing game ever, maybe only getting tied by Midnight Club 2 on the PS2.
I enjoy this collection very much but they need to release motorstorm on ps4 because the third one has a lot of aliasing. they could also add 3d, vr, 60 fps etc.
hell yeah or even better make a new motorstorm and release all 3 previous along with the psp one remaster hd and 4k, my fave was pacific rift btw good music.

You'll like Fast racing RMX for the Switch. The game's a nice love letter to wipeout and f-zero 😏😏
I still need to try that, Redout as well. F-Zero GX has served me very well over the past 14 years lol, needs a proper successor and/or sequel.
Fast RMX totally blows Wipeout away when it comes to actual sense of speed.
RMX makes my head spin it's so damn fast, wow! :O
I think fast racing is more F-Zero than it is Wipeout. It might be fast, but the nuance to how everything moves and the crazy track designs give wipeout a really different feel.

You can play the Vita version of WipeOut 2048 on the PSTV using the PSVimgTools whitelist hack.

If you like Truxton, check out Crisis Wing. It's the winner of the gamedev compo at Assembly 2017 and is a very similar shooter, down to the power-ups and skull bombs.

If you can't get ahold of Wipeout, I discovered the Riptide GP games available on PSN are pretty decent arcade racers available for super cheap.
Plus, they're not too hard to platinum either.
i'm both glad and a bit surprised that they're still making wipeout games since sony has long since dissolved studio liverpool that originally made the series. i guess i pretty much have to get a ps4 now.

It's a good collection but the original sound tracks are not present due to licensing issues. Apart from that its a fun game to play!
The PS3 version let you import your own soundtracks - so I just brought in all the classic Wipeout music. Does this PS4 version let you do that?
So, I've only just started the review and I am probably going to buy this collection on ps store. Although, I must say that I'm quite disappointed with they being only 28 tracks over 3 games? What's up with that? Should be at least 28 tracks per game. Still, I loved wipeout as a kid. Wipeout and tekken was the 1st 2 games I got with my playstation, all those years ago. I don't really like digital much but I decided to buy digital as it's only £11.50p around $15. Plus, I have battlefield1 in my ps4 and that's my main game. I know it's lazy but it's nice to not have to keep getting up when changing games. It's only a little more expensive to buy on disc. £14 but I think I'll prob play wipeout multiple times a day, for short periods and I'm an old man now.

The test of hardware technology has always been the standard for wipeout! 4K in its greatness beauty, with minor tweaks in "old" games. I hope this is just a warm up for a upcoming fresh wipeout. For convinience (i own all wipeout titles) and for historic perspective it could include (at least) the original trilogy. I'm waiting for more!

XL is incredible. 3 was great too but I prefer XL, the piranha ship is an absolute beast.
It's the computer voice, plus the overall look and feel. So raw, so sleek yet gritty... LOVED it.

Thinking about it the name "Wipeout" would probably fit a FPS a lot better than something like "CoD".

When I eventually buy a PS4 on ebay, this game will be the only reason why... just like how Wipeout HD was the only reason I bought a PS3 on ebay a couple years ago.
Ha! Same here! I only bought a PS3 back then for Wipeout HD/Fury, and I was absolutely adamant about not getting any of the current-gen consoles, up until they released Wipeout Omega Collection. And I have enjoyed every last second of it so far.

I'm pretty sure Redout is the spiritual successor to Wipeout. The dev for Wipeout went out of business and went indie to make Redout I'm pretty sure.
While Redout is an amazing modern antigrav racer (and holy crap it's fast), I don't believe any Psygnosis / Studio Liverpool staff contributed to making it. Honestly, Redout reminds me more of the N64 F-Zero games than it does Wipeout.
Just by saying that makes me hunger more and more for F-Zero for Switch; only problem is I don't have one.
Not to say that developers can't switch nations, but Redout was developed by an Italian company, while all of the Wipeout games, including the Omega Collection, have been handled by British developers. If you look up Clever Beans, one of the developers involved in Omega Collection, then you'll notice that the founders worked on Wipeout Pure before.
i got this from gamestop accidentally pack on my copy of impantient game for psvr idk if i should go tell them that i got wipeout collection instead of impantient or keep it. what do you guys recomend i never play any of these titles but im so wanted to play PSVR game.

Y'know, Mark, I'm actually kinda surprised that Tele-Games isn't a heavy sixer. Not judging, mind you--all Atari 2600s are the best Atari 2600--just surprised.

I completely missed the fact that this game came out.
But doesn't the original 2048 have all the levels from HD and Fury already?
Only if you had HD / Fury DLC. But yeah, then it was basically omega collection on Vita. But man, this runs 60 FPS and the sound is completely redone and it´s so much better (now it often sounds like pods in Star Wars E 1 race) + Wipeout HD in this have 2 brand new ships - Tigron and Van Uber, both seen in the video. Plus there is a Racebox, which was absent from Vita version (why oh why..) I was hesitating before buying this, NO regrets now.
No 2097????!!!! A real shame. I still enjoy it on my Saturn. Would have been interesting to se e it on ps4

Never enjoyed wipeout. F-zero on the other hand is epic. I wonder why. It'S really hard to tell, what makes wipeout so unappealing while f-zero nails it.

Just hang in there, you'll get there eventually :-) That's what I love about this game, it seems overwhelmingly difficult at first, but as soon as you get a better feeling for the ships and the tracks, you'll soon start racing instead of fighting the tracks.
