Hey Kenji, there's a child in the shot at 1:21, I know you tend to edit around showing what I assume are your kids. So just letting you know in case you've missed this one
Are we entirely certain it wasn’t a ghost? The “child” seemed to appear out of thin air from behind the bushes and then when Kenji looked back up just a second later, it had disappeared just as quickly. Until Kenji can prove otherwise, I’m going with a hungry ghost that shows up whenever he cooks on the Ooni, and that’s why he left it in the shot.
“Hey Kenji. I want to point out that your child is in the shot, at the exact time and spot the child is in the shot, because I don’t think you want anyone to see this…. So let me make this public post pointing all that out for you…Shhhhh”.
Yeah I'm having an eclipse party on Monday afternoon, I feel like this little Sammy breads will have to make a feature. I was planning on pizza but this could be fun
I was frying chorizo sausages last night and remebered this vid, so now I have chorizo fried zucchini slices for tomorrows panini, yaaay, thanks Kenji! 🙏💚
Was wondering if you would be able to make one Orthodox lent friendly dish and a ramadan inspired dish. Would be cool considering Pascha and Eid are coning up. Cheers brother
@@ratiquette is it, actually? the nutty, sweet banana bread scent is so iconic to me, it's hard to imagine what zucchini adds that would make up for losing that
@@skewer45 In my subjective view it is. Other than a few subtle aromatic compounds, the only thing the banana really brings to banana bread is sugar and bulk. Sugar can be added in other forms, and Zucchini provides bulk as well as a carrot cake-like textural component.
This remembers me of the traditional french "Fouée" (actually, only a little portion of french people know what they are). It's little balls of bread which are cooked in traditional bread oven, and stuffed with several different things (rillettes, cooked mushrooms, Mojette beans (white beans), nutella, and so on) ruclips.net/video/q7OgMuaCjRM/видео.html
Kenji does this less than other content creators but they ALL make verbal/nonverbal cues to signify their food is delicious. Im sure it is delicious, and I do trust Kenji, but the algorithm biases content creators towards emotionally manipulative tactics whether they like it, or are even aware of it or not. I’ve seen some truly egregious shit though and I just wanna say Kenji is probably the nicest, most honest content creator I’m aware of.
I loved seeing you demonstrate that you don't have to wrap your dough in stupid, wasteful plastic wrap to rest it! I wish more internet chefs would figure out that you can cover your bowl with a plate or cutting board, or just flip a bowl over it on a work surface!
Roast zucchini with some salt and pepper, or fry and grill it, whatever. Go buy some naan and toast it, put some cheese and the zucchini inside, or do whatever else you want to it. Making any kind of flatbread is also stupid simple, I don't see how such a cheep and easy meal idea could be considered showboating except for the most overly-sensitive of us...
You may notice this video is labelled differently to his other videos, it doesn't state anywhere "how to" or include "Kenji's Cooking Show", it simply states "Zucchini sandwiches." - sometimes Kenji uploads videos to simply show how he cooks casually on an everyday basis, because some of us find that entertaining/interesting. You can quite simply not watch, or just watch his instructive cooking videos, which are labelled pretty clearly. You could also quite simply ask for the ingredients for the dough.
If you actually watch the video, can you honestly not tell what the ingredients are just by watching what he does? There are no crazy, weird ingredients…it’s all straightforward. Dough consists of flour (probably just AP, but maybe bread flour…either would work for a simple quick leavened flatbread like this), instant yeast, buttermilk, melted butter, and salt (not shown, but I’m assuming he put a little pinch or two in). As you can see, he’s not using any measurements, just eyeballing it because, again, a quick flatbread dough like this is extremely forgiving and doesn’t need precise hydration ratios or anything. Before folding the flattened bread, he adds a little oil (any will work) to keep the two halves from sticking together as they bake. Sliced zucchini with some salt pepper, and a little oil. Real simple, and could just as easily be done under a broiler if you don’t have a pizza oven. Provolone cheese slices…but you could easily use any cheese (or none) that you prefer. That’s it. He’s not showboating, just showing people ideas for a quick and easy meal with limited ingredients. People just need to always have something to complain about or be offended by…it’s crazy.
You can just buy naan or some other flatbread or pita and then all you have to do is cook up some zucchini and throw on some cheese. Add aioli or some kind of sauce too if you'd like.
@@justinguitarcia owning a home with a large, private backyard in a safe and quiet area, and having a pizza oven to fire up at will isn’t something most people can afford, and this video is presented without your typical Kenji-esque educational commentary. It frankly feels, at the very least tone-deaf, and kind of showboaty. It’s a dickhead comment for OP to post, but I certainly understand where they’re coming from.
It feels like any of his other late-night snack videos where he doesn't talk but just during the day. I don't read it as showboating at all. Having all of those things are mostly secondary to the food being cooked. The gas pizza oven is expensive, but there are thankfully cheap alternatives on the market now.
@@grgfrais1866 this is ridiculous. there's always going to be someone who has something you can't have. I don't see showboaty. it's just a portable pizza oven! I appreciate him sharing this sandwich idea. I'm going to use my toaster oven and store-bought naan. And I'm not going to feel bad about being fortunate enough to own a toaster oven! lol
That crunch at the end was the most perfect and most anticipated thing in the whole vide. Kenji, fantastic video. Truly I loved it

imagine having kenji as your dad, thinking everyone gets to eat like that 🤣
Roasted zucchini is super underrated in sandwiches, thanks for the reminder!! Easy to prep while you've got the bbq out anyways🎉

surprisingly ive never thought of having zucchini with any sort of bread before
Kind of unrelated but have you ever heard of zucchini bread? It's absolutely amazing, even better than banana bread IMO.

This looks amazing. I think I’d tweak it slightly and add smooth ricotta and some fresh mint
I would eat seven. Little Aardvark sauce on the table to use as desired. Yummmmm
Hey Kenji! it’s 2:04 am in NYC, now I’ve gotta go raid the fridge. I have nan breads in the freezer, but yours looks better . Cheers!
I am craving this so badly.
Soooo loving my Ooni❤️❤️❤️

The light whistling to yourself 😂
You know it's going to be a banger when the first 2 seconds is Kenji chewing and giggling

you know it smacks by the happy kenji sounds in the beginning
