As with everything else kettlebell related once again Mark Wildman manages to make it clear and to the point. He even does it wearing jeans. There are the other kettlebell experts on youtube and then there is Mark Wildman.
Leaving comments helps the video. So, I want to say thank you for the training you are giving. I keep try to watch other Kettlebell trainers videos, but they just don't make as much sense as yours. Thank you very much.
I’m young, overweight and a total novice. I had a trainer last year, we only used medicine balls. I really like the kettlebells, but he wouldn’t teach me those. I’m so glad I can watch your tutorials and learn. You explain things so well. Thank you.
Mark, half a year ago I started cleans with a 14 kg KB, 6x 5/5 volume set. And I started with a 6 kg club bell. These 2 exercises are my personal benchmarks. Due to an old shoulder injury I couldn't even manage to do a single arm shield cast properly. 2 weeks ago, I hit 10x 10/10 cleans after doing 20x 5/5 for three weeks. Also, I can do now a 12x 5/5 single arm shield cast with pretty form. 1 week ago, I succeeded with a 20 kg clean 6x 5/5. Now I will build it up slowly to 20x 5/5. My shoulder feels much, much better. Posture is improved. I fixed a minor knee issue, I was not even aware of before. For years, I went to the gym. I cannot not say the time was wasted; I definitely can say it was not as effective and healthy(?). Likewise, I appreciate the simplicity of KB training. A gym has all these machines and different kind and sizes of weights. KB-training is simpler. Just grab the KB and go for it, while even saving time. THANK YOU, for all your content on exercising! Your channel is the lighthouse in an ocean of questionable recommendations on training.
Thank you for the soft style videos! Could you maybe answering my questions I have about these styles? 1. Is the hard style more save for the lower back? And 2. Are the hamstrings more forced to work ( more impact) at the hard style? Thank you!
I started teaching myself with soft style. Dabbled in hard style. But i read pavels books recently and decided to start hard style from sqaire one. I wish i started with it first because it made my soft style much better.
Yes, if you want to go into kettlebell competition, but to me full soft style just looks weird and silly, like the Crossfit floundering fish pull-up. (Mark's is sort of a half-way house and I would not mind being seen using it if working out somewhere public, but full soft style? Nah!).
In a soft style competition, you have 10 minute sets, and don't set the kettlebell down until you're done. The competitions also use double kettlebells. So, imagine doing 10 minutes of continuous presses, for reps, with two kettlebells, without seeing the weights down. Soft style is designed to save energy in the movements, because otherwise the competitors would die halfway through the set. So, to answer your question, the point of practicing soft style is to practice loaded weightlifting for longer periods of time than hard style is designed for. Hard style double snatches continuously for 10 minutes is incredibly hard, bordering on impossible with heavier weights. Soft style makes it possible to practice that sort of endurance in a safe way.
@Christogenea dot Org Thanks for your concern but I was joking, sort of. I just prefer hard style. I use kettlebells as a fitness and strength tool for my real sport which is coastal rowing, I have no intention of doing competition kettlebell, not at my age!
I don't think you see many Russians doing other than soft style...maybe since internet things have changed. Those Russian old school guys can go very long. It's kinda lazy looking but deceptive. I think hard style is safer. Thanks for the video Mark...you look all nostalgic doing soft style 😁
tbh I'd like to know that too lol. Sometimes I don't get it, but other times I do, but never really figured out whats causing it, apart from I'm doing it wrong
I noticed the toes go slightly up on the back swing. I often do the same and see it in many other videos. I assume it's ok? I feel it's just my foot getting into a better position and not something to to correct. What are your thoughts?
Coach - internal rotation of my arms (thumb toward crotch) is intensely hard on my thoracic outlet syndrome. Is this why so many KB’s have thumbs pointing out?
Hi Mark, I want your opinion on Hard style for kettlebell swings - especially people with lower back pain. I saw a video (ruclips.net/video/hhfYIjcJ8Fo/видео.html) which actually concerns me! So, it would be great if you could shed some light on it

An excellent story of recovery. It’s all possible with small improvements over time
The framing of all of these videos is so cool! What a great setting for hard training. Thanks as always for the wisdom, Mark!
This is another one of the mark wildman's "Aha, now I get it!" videos. Thanks again for distilling your knowledge for all of us.
Thanks to you I am going to start using kettlebells and steel clubs. You have the best instructional videos.
Great video, love the view!
Excellent eplanations, excellent demonstrations, poignant and helpfull accessory remarks - everyone can get it, understand it and improve!
Very clear explanation, thank you Mark.
I’m here to help
Thank you for the soft style videos!

Thank you for another great video!

@nick sweeney thanks.
@Christogenea dot Org thank you
Mark have you used the Titan competition bells? They seem to be almost half the price of kettlebell kings
Again great explanation. Also super nice location!
I don't have a coach, and I am making these decisions on my own. I guess I will have to figure it out. My noodly frame says hardstyle for now.
Loving the videos and the backdrops - where in the US is this please?
Here before the thumb down guy! 😂
another great vid. honestly just trying to figure out where this was shot based off the flora. gonna go with san bernadino national forest.
Is there a point to practice soft style at all?
Yes, if you want to go into kettlebell competition, but to me full soft style just looks weird and silly, like the Crossfit floundering fish pull-up. (Mark's is sort of a half-way house and I would not mind being seen using it if working out somewhere public, but full soft style? Nah!).

Clouds passing over sagebrush!
Awesome stuff. Waiting for the jerk comparison next. 😃

Any tips on how to reduce "whiplash" when I'm putting the bell down? Mainly bothers my strong side so I'm clearly doing smthng wrong 😅
tbh I'd like to know that too lol. Sometimes I don't get it, but other times I do, but never really figured out whats causing it, apart from I'm doing it wrong
Are we waiting on thumbs down guy today?
Looks like he's been
😂
I think I'm over thinking this double bounce thing, finding it hard to adapt. Will keep trying
Don’t overthink it, just think about doing an easier version and it will click
I noticed the toes go slightly up on the back swing. I often do the same and see it in many other videos. I assume it's ok? I feel it's just my foot getting into a better position and not something to to correct. What are your thoughts?
Yes, it’s ok as long as you are not losing your balance. You’ll see a lot of kettlebell sport athletes do that with both long cycle and snatch.
Coach - internal rotation of my arms (thumb toward crotch) is intensely hard on my thoracic outlet syndrome. Is this why so many KB’s have thumbs pointing out?
I think the main reason is just so the bells have less movement and it helps their hand insertion.
i don't know why but the sof style is so much hard to learn or master without a coach so i will stick with hard style forever
So the anticipated app will be out next week?
Hopefully an update soon! I wonder how the Beta is progressing?
Wow! I always wondered why my first coach did a double hip straightening. I just thought it was the “way it’s done” and did the same.
