- This video is me signing along to 'A Million Dreams' which is taken from the movie 'The Greatest Showman'. I taught this at my Wayne Barrow Academy over the weekend.

My mum is HoH and uses mainly BSL now - she still lives feeling music and if she has earphones in (hearing aid out) and the volume right up she can hear the music if not the words - these videos are lovely and being able to follow them for her is so special! I would love you see you do some of the Wicked songs! (Defying Gravity, I’m not that girl, the wizard and I, no good deed, as long as you’re mine, for good) These would be so so special for her to see - especially with the 15yr anniversary coming up. Pleeeeease! X

Defying gravity
The first line he signs with the words.
“Close my eyes, I can see a world is waiting for me”
In BSL you would literally close your eyes and visualise a new world. You would not follow English because British Sign language has its own language and structure.
This is great for some, lots of deaf people use SSE. But Deaf (capital D) use BSL.
Completely agree. It's not BSL.
Im 13 and have been doing some work with the disable children and some of them are deaf so I decided to learn BSL along with some songs to cheer them up on bad days. The greatest showman is one of their favourite films and this is me and a million dreams are their two favourite songs. So nice to put a smile on their faces by doing something so simple.
For no apparent reason my 7 year old daughter can copy you and loves it. We don’t need sign language but it’s great for learning the power of communicating. Thank you for all you do for BSL and helping people learn!
I remeber my Y3 was a learned sign language and made us do this!!! Im in Y6 now but i still remember
I am performing this infront of the school with some friends and i am so happy u made this video because this has helped me so much. My friends is deaf and we have been watching thia video so we know it off by heart

I'm a teacher and my kids performed this too. Took them about a week to learn this.

Loved watching this im trying to learn bsl just because I've always been interesting and would love to be able to communicate with the deaf community xx

I think sign language is great to learn I’m learning sign language as I work with special needs children
I listened to it at school and I have now it sounds good
This is brilliant the children in the nursery love joining into it and know most of the signs.

Hi I’m not deaf but I’ve worked with deaf people with learning difficulties I’m still in touch with one lady every time I see her I show her some of the sighing songs she love it to sing along with you, have you put some of any signing songs on a CD that I could buy I would love to give to her for Christmas thanks x

Omg, I had to learn this for my year 6 leavers church mass.
You inspired me to start learning sign language, I started 2 weeks ago and all ready learned "Thousand years" and some basic phrases. Sign Language for me is a way to communicate my feelings and emotions without speaking and I really enjoy learning it xxx thanks for making the videos you do so people like me can learn and enjoy it xxxx

I am deaf and guessing because BSL conveys more meaning with fewer signs than SSE, so perhaps SSE will often fit the rhythm better even though BSL is for natural communication and considered more proper than SSE which is used mainly for understanding English? Somebody feel free to correct me though if I've got that wrong.

No. It is SSE, sign supported english. BSL has its own grammar and structure. 🙂

He is following English Language structure and following the words in the song using sign language vocabulary. It’s great for some deaf people who use SSE, for hard of hearing and hearing people. It may even be useful for some deaf people with English. However, it is not accessible for Deaf people and is not BSL.
It’s like speaking English whilst putting on a french accent and calling it french.
Great fun, enjoy the video, it’s not BSL.

Neither, it's sign supported English, using BSL signs, but in English order.

This is was my old sign language song I miss doing my dream it took me a long time to learn this is song but I never gave up always follow ur dreams never give up cause at the end it will always be worth it..its amazing who we can learn a different language just by not giving up
