Hi everyone!👋
Thank you for checking out this portable Bluetooth + WiFi speaker build I have come up with. As always I will have the laser-cut plans, the wiring diagram and the whole parts and tools list on my Instructables page. Make sure you check my Instructable page too for more details. Let's get started!
For this speaker I decided to try implementing not only Bluetooth 5.0 but also a WiFi module. Here I am using the Up2Stream WiFi module which is super easy to use and delivers great sound quality at a reasonable price. There is also an Aux input which when plugged in automatically disables the Bluetooth or WiFi input letting us make a simpler and cleaner looking speaker with less buttons and switches which is always pleasing to get rid of.
For the amplifier I chose one of my favorite Class D amplifiers - the Yamaha YDA138-E. It delivers plenty of power in to the drivers with plenty of bass and clear highs. One of the best features of this amplifier is that there is absolutely no audible noise being projected when the speaker is not playing. I have tried many Class D amplifier and I can truly say that this one is top of the range in it's price point.
I have to say - I am happy the way this speaker has turned out. My apologies for the crappy sound test on the video but you will have to take my word for it - not only does it look decent but it sounds good too! I did make a few flaws here and there when building the speaker but hey - at least I learned something! Thank you so much for checking this project out, I hope I inspired you to build a speaker of your own. And if you are still hesitating - do it! It is super rewarding and the knowledge you get by making it is priceless. Not to mention the fun!
Thank you once again for tuning in to this project of mine and I will see you on the next one!

First of all: well done! It's an incredible work and you have inspired me to do it in a similar way.
One thing I have to mention is, that the uo2stream-module doesn't work with the isolated converter (the wifi module wasn't found in the hotspot register of my smart phone until I soldered it directly to the step down converter. Similar experiences I had to learn to know a few months ago when I built not a combined BT/wifi-box but only a wifi-box!). To prevent ground noise using the bluetooth module this one had to be soldered to the isolated converter once again.
The second I found out was that the sound of the up2stream- module was very very scratchy and of low volume until I soldered the output signal not to the bluetooth module but directly to the amplifier.
Now it works perfectly and I want to thank you for your youtube work. Otherwise I never would have dared to do works like that!!!
Greets from Germany,
Frank
Definitely one of the better DIY bluetooth speaker builds I've seen on RUclips. Nicely done!
Thank you! Means a lot to me.
This is most perfect one
Only one word... Amazing!!! Good job! I wait for the list of components and the wiring diagram with impatience. Thanks from Italy.
Thank you so much! I will have the build plans and component list placed tomorrow.

MOST beautiful DIY Bluetooth Speaker I have ever seen ! Wonderful Work !
Wow! You are so great in making wireless speaker! I really like the sound quality the speaker you've made. The bass is loud and clear and the highs and mids are also clear.
You should consider using a different amplifier which works with battery voltage and doesnt need a step down converter. I would recommend a tpa3116 board.
Hey Donny, Still waiting on the build plans and wiring diagram. Amazing build, and you are one of the few who actually shows how to wire everything up! A++ Well Done...
Thank you Richard! I highly appreciate your comment. I have just finished with the wiring diagram and will be going for the build plans. I will have all of that included in my Instructables post tomorrow!
You Rock! TY @@DonnyTerek
I love your woodwork. 👍
As always, thank you!
The best speaker is DIY! Great job, JBL eat your heart out 😄
Love it! 😄 That's the way to think of DIY!
Muito linda! Ótimo trabalho. 👏🏻☺️
Does anyone know how much money it costs to build this speaker?
perfect love finishing
BOY, YOU ARE TALENTED!!!
You should go ahead and make your own brand of speakers!!!
Haha, thank you so much!
I wish one day I will!

Damn,,, that finish looks sweet.
13:18 so smooth!!
Really nice build!! Would love to hear it in person.
The attention to detail is amazing. Nice job!
Thank you so much!
Great build mate! The extra work you put into getting the nice painted finish to accompany the laser cutout front really sets this above many others. Very nice! :-D
woww its amazing man
As always.. perfect!
Thank you!
👏esperando la lista de montaje y electrónica con impaciencia!! Buen trabajo!!
I'm not much of a spanish guy but thank you!
wow just wow
Wow nice

Professionally finished
Great work, beautiful speaker. What's name of camera you are recording?
Thank you so much! Nothing special, just my cellphone 😄
add some small weight to back side of passive radiators for deeper bass.
where?
Totally amazing, really impressive. Well done fella.
Thank you so much!
Amazeballs
Tight!
it cud be one of the best diy speakers
Excellent job! Extremelly acurate and balanced speaker!
Thank you!
I love building myself rather than buying it, diy helps to add your fav things one thing that you can't buy and this video is the proof, i love it, doing all neatly was so satisfying . Hats off mann
Thank you a lot! Well said.
Beautiful end nice work man it's so simple end so eze
Thanks!
I saw tons of video about bt speaker diy, but finally one with a BMS how to !!!!! A year and half ago I did mine and I lve searched hours to do a proper battery pack, i found the info on a forum. A guy were posting the same question on many forums, and one forums said how to do it with a schematic. You should edit your title to add the info about the diy battery pack
Haha, it took a while myself to figure out the proper way to make a battery pack 😄 Thanks for watching!
Amazing
This speaker more functional with a touch screen with Android system to listen to Internet radio applications such as Spotify without depending all the time the cell phone or tablet
très belle réalisation, bravo a vous.
Great design
Wowww
After 4 years of Engineering and some people still don't even know how to solder. Yet, this guy does it like it's nothing.
Ты супер крутой самодельщик, видосы классно монтируешь. Можно сделать карманный вариант спикера?
Nice👍
Super 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍
Really very good work, you made me want to do one and that's what I'm good at doing.
But why have you disassembled the ground loop isolator ?
Thank you! No particular reason to disassemble it, mainly for making it smaller.
do you sell speakers? it's pretty nice. I like stuff that "no one" has. virtually no one.
Perfect
pro job! But, may I add a few suggestions? 1) instead of x-overs use seperate amps, 2 or 3 of them for bass and highs. Run everything off the battery with and isolator to charge, eliminate the ground loop.
You're an artist !
Haha, thanks!
Just....wow...I have no words... Just....WOW
Thank you!
que belleza de trabajo, mil felicitaciones
ficou show de bola
Immpecable work !
Thank you!
Great project! Makes me want to get a laser cutter. Are you going to create a wiring diagram similar to your other builds?
Thank you! I would love to have a laser cutter too 😄 Yes, I have just finished making the wiring diagram which I will have posted tomorrow.
Would I be able to use table saw to cut them or imma have to get a hand held saw
Wow very nice Bluetooth speaker 👍👍👍👍
Nice clean build , good job!
Thank you!
Is there a way to have the volume potentiometer be controlled by a volume up or down button or is also controlled by the Bluetooth device?
Yes, you can use the volume up and down connections on the Bluetooth module but it would only control the volume of the Bluetooth audio.
КРУТО ПОЛУЧИЛОСЬ,СУПЕР, ЛАЙК.............
it's an great video ,but do not mentioned the wifi moudle software features, it support multiroom ,airplay ,dlna, spotify connect .24bit,192khz sample rate. it can be your own "SONO" 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Arylic I built this speaker in nearly the same way but as I wanted to start the connection to my WiFi network I never found the hotspot which is mentioned in the manual. Only the led was blinking pretty fast and there was the message „WiFi is starting“...
As much as I want to dis other peoplw portable speaker I can't do so for this one, this is really good the only way to get better is go full custom and exponentially on price, I like how you put a ton of info in the description and all the links, see ya later bro
Thank you!
Nicely done.
Best portable bluetooth speaker assembly in youtube...astig kaayo
Thank you!!
hermoso trabajo
wao....classic
I just like how you put little from yourself in every speker.. like this wooden button ... that was amazing i like you'r speakers and i loud love to have one peace of art one day Lolz. Good work with every little detail in there.. just keep it up man
Haha, thank you so much! I really appreciate that.
have to say it is great work
Thank you so much! I Truly appreciate that.
Its awesome... Im just gonna do the buy option, since i cant deal with the process of doing the speakers myself.
Thanks! I do agree, it takes a lot of time and patience to make one yourself!
Amazing craft
Thank you!
Good choice of music!
amazing !
The best!!!👍
Thank you!!
Congrat, very nice project.
Qualidade demais!
Donny Terek Dear friend, I watched a lot of videos on the assembly of portable speakers on RUclips, and I am happy to say that this is one of the highest quality and most! neat build i saw p.s. I translate text from Russian with google translate
Thank you so much! That truly means a lot to me. Respect!
Boombox show 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Very nice, I love it!
Thanks!
Thanks for not putting any dumb standard music for the background.
Thank you for the support! 😄
@@DonnyTerek what mode for crossovers is used? they have some switches, not sure how to..
You are skillful.
Hey Donny,
there is a capacitor soldered at the Bluetooth module. Where exactly is the position to solder it correctly? And another question: which one is the positive pole position and the negative pole position for elongated LED of the WiFi module?
Greets from Germany,
Frank
great. oldskool...
I have few improvements:
1) DC converters stepdown + isolated (position 15 + 16) , could be replaced with isolated DC-DC converter 12/5V only (it have input voltage tolerance 10-14V)
2) Volume potentiometer should have shielded wires, primarly in cases when legth exceeds 5cm (0,016ft)
3) Crossovers - do not use electrolytic capacitors (all types) - distortions and decreasing capacity, Use foil MKP or MKT type. Do not use Coil on ferrite - use air coil. Correctly crossover should be calculated for specific speakers - universal board do more mess than bless ;-)
4) For charging bateries Li-Ion protection board should be here for current and voltage control. Balanceur is not enough - there is risk of explosion.
5) on YDA138 module (end amplifier) change input electrolytic capacitors for MKP/MKT foil - you'll get cleaner high frequencies + will ged rid of same problems like in part 3
6) I don't understand power wires on jack connector (position 13)
If you will try this improvements in next piece of this interesting box, you will be surprised. ;-)
6) I do not understand the power wires on the jack connector (position 13)
it is to cut off the power of the wifi or bluetooth card when connecting a source with a cable jack
Good job, OK!
Thank you!
If I were a carpenter I would already be selling thousands of these on Amazon XD. I find your videos very relaxing and therapeutic! this whole project is very expensive. like $ 300.
Haha, thank you!
Hi bro
May I know which wood did you used for Bluetooth speaker?
Another fine build.
Thank you!
Nice one 👍👍
Thanks!
Jesus Kenn, you rly at it
Nice design ,
Hello, nice work thanks for the video and information. Where did you put the ground loop isolator between amplifiers and speakers ?
very fine work
GOOD EVENING! HOW MUCH IS IT FOR YOU TO MAKE ONE OF THIS AND SEND TO BRAZIL?
Which speaker parameters determined the size and shape of the box?
Cool speaker and cool video. I really enjoyed watching you make the parts.
I appreciate that!
Do you have a CNC Laser cutting machine or did you have those cuts and engravings outsourced?
Definitely outsourced, there are dozens of local laser cutting companies around my place so it is just a matter of making a set of plans for the laser cutter.
สวยงาม ดูดี มีราคา
Você poderia vender sou do Brasil compraria sem dúvidas amigo !
Здравствуйте. А подскажите НЧ динамик указан 6 Ом,а по ссылке указан 4 Ом, какой нужен?
