I don't see how NFTs are a net positive for the average user. It's just a marketplace for people with disposable income, buying and trading limited items in the hopes of selling that said item to a bigger fool for a bigger price. I think it could be quite dangerous if NFTs go mainstream in this way - it will basically give companies more incentives to limit supplies or copies of items, which will only cause FOMO with users and artificially drive up prices. This will effectively price out people who can afford those things because of the artificially high prices. I'm not saying the technology behind NFT's is bad, it's the application of how people are using NFT's at the moment i.e. openseas and pologon is very misleading. These companies are only providing this sort of service because they are making money on every transaction.

Hey, yeah, it gets really confusing. It used to be called the Matic Mainnet, but then the name changed to Polygon Mainnet. They are one in the same. Also, be sure you don't convert all of your Matic to WETH. You don't want to be stuck with 0 Matic in case you need a little for gas fees down the road. Even just 1 Matic will cover hundreds of transactions.

What is interesting thought is all the transaction costs associated with this. This is my first time so just bought $100 of MATIC to see how the process works. By the time I actually had funds in Opeasea, I had probably lost about $15 in all the various fees / transaction costs.

Be sure you have the Polygon chain added to your Metamask. And there are some delays with the polygon network right now. Check their status for updates. It should show up soon though.

I tried to buy a free NFT on ETH, they wanted gas over $500! Insanity. Remember when one of the selling points of crypto was low fees? In about 10 transaction attempts, the lowest I've seen ETH gas was about $160. That's flat out a shameful, disgusting scam.

Your wallet address is the same for Ethereum or Polygon

I don’t think you can get that money back after the transaction has failed
A way you can avoid having failing transactions again would be to put in a custom gas price that will guaranteed go through

I bridged and lost everything.. Where did it go? Used the opensea bridge from Ethereum to Polygon
It's on the polygon chain now. Make sure you have polygon selected in your wallet.

you have to pay gas on ETH every time. To save money, it's best to by directly on Polygon instead of bridging.

You can only buy NFTs that are listed on the polygon network. NFT's made on the ETH network itself can't be purchased if you are on another layee

If you are on the Ethereum Mainnet there is a really high one-time fee.
On polygon, there is no big one-time fee.

I definitely agree that's a huge problem. They need more developers like us to help them fix it!
