Each of the following films use the exact same dialogue.
Word for word.
Each story is completely different and was made using the same rules and three individual specific obstructions.
Overall rules:
1) Focus on the narrative
2) Consider costume and props to extent the story and background of the world.
3) Focus on music, sound design and lighting to leave certain aspects to the imagination.
Chapter 1: "STATIC SCREAMERS"
OBSTRUCTIONS:
1) Film in a completely empty location, preferably somewhere overgrown with trees, ivy and grass.
2) Use no more than three shots.
3) Utilise three horror film elements. The Jump-scare. Horror music/silence to build tension and the end of the world.
STATIC SCREAMERS SHOT REQUIREMENTS:
Starts with a medium wide shot, then moves to long take that moves around the characters. During the final bit it follows them head first then moves to their side, panning left and right until it cuts to black.
Chapter 2: "SINGULARITY"
OBSRUCTIONS:
1) Film in ONE location.
2) Use two continuous shots that incorporate different cinematography skills.
3) Use extensive lighting and sound to extend the story off screen.
SINGULARITY SHOT REQUIREMENTS:
Opens with a medium wide and slowly pans to the main character as the dialogue continues. During the two moments when there’s noise above the ceiling, the camera will quickly pan upwards, then back down.
It will also, at the second noise move into a dutch tilt to showcase the fear.
When he stands the camera moves with him, backing up and following him until he sits down. It moves head on and pans left and right with him.
During the second shot it starts directly in front of Daniel. It once again slowly pans closer to him. When he looks at the camera it dolly zooms with his scream and cuts to black.
Chapter 3: "SHADOWS KNOOK"
OBSTRUCTIONS:
1) It has to be found footage.
2) It switches to picture only halfway through.
3) Focus on sound ENTIRELY.
SHADOW’S KNOOK SHOT REQUIREMENTS:
Rapid camera movements and analog horror like photos.
The camera moves with David the entire time and glitches consistently.
There are two shots, one up until just before the kitchen door and one right next to the kitchen door until the running sequence. The camera will glitch out and then switch to "Photography only" wherein each photo becomes more horrific the more of them that are taken. The final photo ending the film showing David being possessed.
"KNOOK"
Definition 1: Servant (WFG)
Definition 2: Bone
As part of my Summer Project (which I pushed myself with) we had to create a fifty second to one minute movie and then remake it three times with different obstructions.
So I made three completely different films that use the exact same dialogue in them. All of which follow specific obstructions as well as overall rules.
However I figured I would release each "Chapter" individually first before releasing the full short film with them all in together... which is what this film is.
Either way, they all tell pretty cool stories. But when you combine them into one film... they may make more sense to the wider story if you pay close enough attention and also to each other...
Thank you to the amazing people that helped me make this film. I couldn't have done it without any of you, thank you for listening and being so passionate about this the way I am.
STATIC SCREAMERS:
Bethan Porter, Lily May Stanfield, George Cairns and Lui Bauer. Thank you all for helping me in each and every way you did. I owe a lot to you all.
Thank you to my amazing uncle Alistair Millington for finding these locations for me, for transporting us around and helping us film. Thank you for literally everything you have ever done for me. I owe you a hell of a lot.
Thank you for putting up with me as well, I know I can be a lot.
SINGULARITY AND SHADOWS KNOOK:
Thank you to the amazing Keshika Mccabe for helping me in every way you have for these films, I don't know how I could do any of this without you. Thank you for going out of your comfort zone and filming these with me. Thank you for actually helping and being as supportive as you are. I really do not deserve you.
You mean the absolute world to me.
I love you so much x
As for you dear viewer, thank you for watching. As I have said many times everything I do connects and I think I've given you enough to try and form some idea of how all these films connect... or have I?
LOL.
Anyway I hope you all enjoy this awesome project and I hope you're looking forward to the next couple of projects I am working on... because believe you me they are going to be very very different.
From:
"Legend and the Lordless Star" and "The Shimmering" both of which are books I am slowly but surely working my way through. To "The Aslan Paradox", "The Wishes of Akalus Strauss", "Insanity" and "Dionysian Symphony" All of which are some ambitious films I am going to be doing soon.
I guess I will see you then...
Bye:)
