In this episode of Day Job we show you why starting with a damaged car can sometimes be more cost effective than turning a perfectly good street car into a track car. We found a cheap i30N that had been declared a "write off" but was easy to turn into a track car.

I can see the new turbo helping make more power, it’s much bigger after all, but how will it be as responsive as the factory turbo? Is it built differently which allows it to spool as fast as a factory turbo?

The guy works like a fiend! How long in real time was it to pull the engine?
Considering most of the front end was off, and modern assembly processes. Taking the engine and trans out like that is 90min tops.

Fair bit has changed with Hyundai since the old excel days. Knowing their reputation, would you risk buying this brand new or are you happy with the GR Yaris purchase?
theres little risk with hyundai these days, they are just as good as any other brand, with the exception of a few of their NA engines.

These apparently never made it to the 'States... I will be interested in seeing some dyno numbers with the new turbo, etc.

Increase capacity...get a Sonata 2.4/Kia 2.4 or Jeep Compass/Patriot engine...

Ya know, I still remember when Hyundai was using Mitsubishi engines because they couldn't make their own, and now they're building race cars...this is nuts.
Korean carmakers have come the furthest in last 20 years . These days legitimate quality affordable cars like the Japanese cars from the 90s that are severely underrated
2000-2005 sonata 2.0 was using evo/galant engine.
@@Berring1000 they even bought the blueprints for the 1.8 twin cam which was in the excel but slightly different head accesories
