I appreciate you showing the parts that you had to redo/adjust like the twist tie and the lens cover. I probably would have made those mistakes too so you saved me some time.
Thanks for the comment! Yea I did run into a few small issues with the install since I have never installed a dashcam before, so I wanted to show what I encountered
After installation, does it effect the rain sensor or any of the other safety features such as lane departure alert, cruse control, auto braking system, integrated garage door openers in mirror or rearview camera that's integrated into the backup camera, or any other safety features like auto dimming rear view mirror, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, integrated back-up camera. Will this unit void manufacturer warranty.
Nope everything still works normally! No issues with warranty as far as I know, but check with your local dealership first (we did not, I just installed it and its been fine)
great video! I had a Kenwood in my older Rav and it was not user friendly at all. Do you have to always be connected to its WiFi, or only when you want to view videos?
any updates or noticeable glitches since your install? i have a 2023 rav4 prime xse and i'm considering this and the OEM version which costs about $125 more. this is more slightly integrated than the OEM which would be installed to the side rather than centered.
Not really. Since the install it has just been constantly recording with nothing needed from me. I like that I don't have to think about it, plug it in, or see it in any way. Its just seamless. Only thing I will note is while there is an app, I find myself just pulling the SD card and connecting directly to my PC when I need to grab footage (which is almost never). Overall very happy with it!
@@LunarLanderXplorWhat do you mean “it went back together just fine”? If clips are broken off, they just don’t go back together. I broke 2 big clips and used plastic welding to fix them.
yea! Almost all of our youtube videos are places we drive to from the Bay Area (excluding our content from Colorado & Utah). Check out our other videos for some inspiration, but in general the best spots are the National Forests. Tahoe NF, Mendocino NF, Stanislaus NF, El Dorado NF, etc. So much to explore, but generally you do have to drive about 3hrs from the Bay.
Hi Few questions pls 1) How's the dashcam holding up? 2) How fast is downloading of footage from the app 3) On a scale of 1-10, how much can it read a licence plate Thanks as I anticipate your detailed response
The dashcam is holding up great. To download videos I just pull the SD card and download to my computer, I don't need the footage often. It can read license plates well during the day, ok at night, 6/10.
@@LunarLanderXplor Thanks....just a follow up. Wondering if it deletes old recordings daily... If I have the app downloaded....lets say Im driving after 1 week with the camera and I want to check recent footage, would I need to go the sd card for that or would the app have that footage even if the phone was off for example?
@@moehimed5985 App will not store anything, all the videos are only in SD. If you want to watch later you connect with the device and download the videos. Once you downloaded it will be in your phone.
Does the video get stored on the cellphone? Is there a way to delete the video or is there a default time limit? Is there a way to save the video on the cellphone?
The videos are stored on an SD card in the camera, but you can pull them into the phone app. Videos get deleted / overwritten as new video is recorded. Normally if I want video (which is super rare in reality) I just take the SD card and pull on my computer. Its a bit easier than the app.
I had a unit installed on a different car and somehow while parked it was getting power and recording while in parking. Ended up taking it off because it was recording for hours and afraid was draining the battery. Nothing similar for your situation?
Hi I would like to know if you have ordered it directly from this website that you provided via link, just to know if it is safe to order it from there. Thank you in advance and great video! :))
Not sure if that can be disabled. Really, its a good thing to have it start automatically so it is always recording in case something happens. Why would you not want it turned on?
Hey thanks for watching! Unfortunately we do not have the rear camera so I cannot do the install video for that one. You should be able to find it on their website! The link to the front camera is in the video description.
Too bad there's no rearwindow cam like the the nextbase cams. It would be also nice to be able to actually see license plate info at night but I don't think the resolution is enough.
While the look is clean I have 3 issues with this. 1) The lens is not adjustable. There should be some ability to as I believe there is too much of the hood being show on the MDX version 2) No sound to identify that the unit has powered on. I believe some of the earlier models had issues just dying after a month of use which was resolved. If this stops working you might not notice that small dim LED which shows if it is on. Even then you have no idea if it is working 3) With no voice you won't know if there is an issues with the microSD card With these issues IMO I would say to get a Viofo over this. Yes it might not look as hidden but I prefer functionality and knowing my device works or has some sort of issues instead of coming into a situation of an accident and then not having the video which I would need.
Valid points! Regardless, we have had a great experience with this dash cam and it has been reliable in our testing. No issues since installing it in our RAV4.
@@LunarLanderXplor Okay, but how it is compared to Viofo 229 or something similar ? It is super sus that there aren't any comparisons with it's competitors .
"super sus" lol. Dude I only have this one dash cam, I don't own any others to compare to. Just sharing my experience with this one, which has been good for my needs.
Did you pay for this dashcam yourself and have you in any way been sponsored by fitcamx ? When I said that it is suspicious I meant that there isn't a single comparison with other dashcams in the entire youtube. Not just your video, but yours including nonetheless.
Yea its hard to do a comparison when I only have one dashcam. I'm not a professional reviewer so this is just my experience with this one dashcam. Taking a look at the video again, it definitely looks like when uploaded to youtube its way more compressed than usual and doesn't look as clear as it does directly from the SD card. Oh well. Overall its still very cool that it looks so seamless and connects to the rearview mirror. We did receive the cam for free in exchange for making this video, but did not receive compensation for our review.
You did such a terrible job pulling the trim, instead you should slide down it. At least this helped me for not running into that mistake. Otherwise video was ok.
Missed your RAV4 vids!!! Please go camping soon!!
We are editing a camping video right now actually! Should have a 2 part video posted soon :)
Great video, and really good camera angles. Always appreciated when you can clearly see what’s being done.
Thanks so much! Did my best to show how an inexperienced person can do this install pretty easily.

You only need to connect to its wifi to connect via the app to view videos. Normally I just pull the SD card if I want footage, which is very rarely
Does it record audio also?
Yes it does!
Does it come with a camera for the back of the car?
This model does not
Is there a flash drive for memory included? Where does it save all the videos?
It uses an micro SD card
@ is it included?
Do you know what the buttons do on the device? I can’t figure it out from the manual
Not sure actually! We've never messed with the camera since we set it up. It just auto-records & we pull video from the SD card if needed.
Oh does the camera only work when it’s he car is on?
Yes only when the car is on.
@ that’s unfortunate
Yea I think there are other dash cams that can connect to a battery to stay on when the car is off. Ours does not do that.

hi I have the same car, was wondering what you went with?
@ i installed the Fitcam and works pretty good for what i need. Looks very custom and was easy to install
Hi, thanks for your tutorial.
Question: Would this work on the XLE trim? This trim doesn't have a digital mirror.
I believe so! They have a few different models depending on mirror type. Check out their official website (link in description) .
Did you figure it out because I'm searching for it now
Taking off the cover really takes some force and it’s tricky, just broke off one of the clips. Now have to figure out how to solve the problem.
Same thing happened to me! It went back together just fine and we've had no issues since then

I have a new 2025 rav 4 PHEV, looking for front & reah cameras, do you have these available?
You'll have to check the manufacturer website to see what they have available for that model.
Does this cam wake up if hit while parked or does the engine have to be running for it to work? Thanks
The engine has to be on
question: how you activate cam to record ?? how to save fille ?? voice command, application enabled?? thx for help..
The camera records automatically when you start the car. If you need to pull footage, there is an SD card you can remove, or you can use their app.

It work on 2023 rav4 hybrid woodland? 👀
I believe so! If you check their website they show what you look for on your rear view mirror to ensure it will work
Where does it record to? Is there a mem card or cloud? Wanna get one for my taco!
It has a micro SD card that can be easily removed. Also there is an app and you can connect via WIFI to view footage on your phone.
Is there an on/off switch for the camera ?
I dont think so? but you can control it in the app
it’s asking for the password to the camera's Wi-Fi. Where can you find the password?
I think its within the manual
So is there an option for rear camera to go with the front camera? I have a 2020 RAV4 Premium.
I believe they do have a rear camera option
Ok, cool thanks for the response. 👍🏻🤓

Still, we cannot use parking mode?
No it does not have a battery to remain on while the car is turned off
Can be used with rav4 with safety sense ? . The windshield has a camera for the TSS. Thanks
Yup all RAV4s have safety sense! It works great for us
