- Cab ride inside a standard Alco WDM3A Diesel locomotive at long hood front [LHF] mode, full control view of the locomotive notching up the throttle, the chugging and honking sounds, speeding at full section MPS of 110KMPH and applied friction brake.

a good combination with analog and digital meters,the analog speedometer is amazing. the Alco diesel engine needs some seconds to accelerate,is better notching it in a steps with some seconds between steps. by this way,less smoke,and the turbocharger has. less stress.

When the alco is at full speed air brakes are applied. At that time is the accelaration gear taken to first position or at the accelaration level??

That is nothing new....it is the procedure on our railways for more than 100 years. The LP concentrates on driving it is the asst LP who has to look out for the signals and signages and call out the aspect which the LP will confirm by also calling out. Only from recent times the LP seat and control panel has been shifted to the left. On our roads it is " keep left " but driver sits on the right side ...correct ?

1) sir kya iis Tarah k throttle ko middle se driver apane taraf pull krta hai tab hi train aage badhta hai.
2) Throttle ko middle se ya middle main hi q rakha jata hai.
3) Jab train chalte raheta hai to driver wo kya chiz apane taraf pull krta hai jisse gas realise hone jaise awaz aata hai or kya chiz wo realise krta hai usse pull kr k.
4) Driver k right side throttle k baad second number par jo hai wo kya hai.

What happened at 3:48?
The engine rpm just dropped and then again sped up.
At this point the train experiences a sudden forward push and then speed is increased suddenly.
Why this happens in WDM3 series.
That's called Transition. The traction current goes from series to parallel combination for traction motors. Its a done thing for DC Diesel Electric Locos. I'm not very good at explaining, but you can sure Google up Transition for DC traction motors.
@@TrainManFromOZ but this locomotive is fully AC locomotive no DC involved in this unit.
@@nitinkumar7329 I didn't know. The Alcos we run are all DC Traction. IR must have done modifications.
See, In Series transition, current is more and hence giving high initial torque to the motors. Now, as it reaches 40kmph...Acc.to Joule's law of heating...Heat is directly Proportional to (current) squared.
In order to avoid excessive heating and wear&tear...Parallel transition is applied to the motors using the gained train's momentum and traction of motors to speed up more.
Fun fact:- the alco accelerated much faster for 0.-40kmph interval than any

It happens when the config of traction motors changes from series to parallel, at around 40 kmph.
@Gaurav : That's the traction current going from series to parallel combination, the process is called transition. Can search up Transition in DC Diesel Electric Locomotives for further info.
