    Yeah! You are an expert!
Only one things: We re-rated this crane up to 1,400 tonnes in order to do one special job.

1- Crawlers can break the road.
2- The road isn´t wide enough.
3- Borders of the road could collapse using crawler.
4- Better spreading of ground pressure by means of wheels.
5- Better tracing of curves of the road with SPMT.
6- "Very fast" speed by wheels compared to crawlers.
7- Suspensions of SPMT can negociate changes of slopes.
8- Many others (top secret ;-D)
    Thanks for your questions.

NASA used 4 of those blue tracked vehicles (without the crane assembly on top) as "pivot wheels" under the vehicle that transported shuttles from the assembly building to the launch posts

here in saudi arabia we hav alot of projects here using that type of crane like lifting 230 ton vessel with 26 meter radius,is a piece a cake for that crane

  • @BadLuqq

they use them in mines mainly. they rarely move from 1 mine to another and if they are moving a long distance they pull them apart into more manageable pieces

  • @EnriqueMoreno_Heavylift

The crane has auxiliary legs with jacks and the trailer can go up and down hydraulically too. Using both of them, the trailer can by positioned under the crane.

@briansarty It's called jack and roll. The trailer is put under the lift at its lowest setting then lifted by way of mant hydraulic jacks at the wheels to lift the piece off of the ground. If you google "jack and lift" you will see better explanations. Many companys accomplish this.

Really wished you showed more of the actual crane (even better would be whilst in operation) ..but atleast you a) did list manufacturer and model and b) weren't doing the simulated-earthquake *shaking* and *flailing about* with the camera all over the place, like so many other uploaders of vids do, thanks for that

We need to contact with liebherr to do certificates in wich they said that the crane can lift up to 1400 tonnes (in special weather and movement conditions) and change some things in the liccon software of the crane (by liebherr engineers, of course).

Looking how high she is riding on the SPMT they must have lifted in more than one stage! So its a lift and block the crane up on the tracks. Lower the SPMT and blocked it and lifted again! The crane is a Liebherr LR 11350! max. lifting capacity
    1,350 t at 12 m
    max. load moment
    22,748 tm

If the transport were done directly with the crawler of the crane, road will be destroyed (for the pressures OF the crawlers versus presure of the wheels of the SPMT). Another question is the low speed of the crawler and the comsuption of fuel is higer and the bad steering of the crane instead of the selfpropelled modular transporter with all steering wheels (360º). It turns on a dime. Without the SPMT, the crane must be dismantled for change the job site.
    Greetings.

    one question...... lol
How exactly did they get that thing on and off it's ride? i would think just lower it but it don't look like it would drop that low. i'd rly like to see it being offloaded... and in timelapes lol.. awesome crane.. thx for the upload :)

    @omgitschrislol
The crane is too big and heavy to drive herself with curves, slopes, bridges, etc. The load per axle is lower using SPMT than the very high load from crawler. The road can be damaged with metalic crawlers instead of rubber wheels.
    Bye.
