My son gave me one of these in the 80s . I used it as a daily driver for 5 years and gave it back to him . Fun little in town machine . I’m 77 and now ride a Honda ST1300 .

Great video, and kudos on such a fantastic restoration project. This exact bike was my first motorcycle in 1975 (even the color, although mine had street tires instead of knobbies). It was a great bike, and a first with the 6-speed transmission. I added crash bars, luggage rack, windshield (later a fairing), and ran it 27,000 miles in 5 years. The last year was a 3,000+ mile camping trip from WI to CO and back -- talk about "twin tingle"!
I loved that bike. But the next fall I bought a Gold Wing. ;-)
On my third Wing now. 🙂

I had one in the 70s, was a lot of fun. I recall the engine aluminum was super soft. Wrench with extreme care. I’ve also lost bikes to a fire, pretty brutal.

My first street machine! Never didn't understand the 6 speed tranny.. all it did was wear a hole in my boot...lol You did a great job... wow!

Great work on the restoration Chris. Too bad about the fire. I’ve restored several Trail 70’s, 1973 Honda CL350 and currently working on a 1973 Honda CB175. Very rewarding to bring these old bikes back to life. As you said it’s hard to get the money out of them when selling one of these bikes, so I look at it as a hobby. Don

Great story and rebuild. The ending was a real let down though. A work of art destroyed. My first motorcycle was a 1973 CL 100. After I was finished with it I don’t think even Cruiseman could restore it.

Great Video! I am amazed at the quality of your restoration and all the hard work that brought it back to such a near pristine condition. The sad part is you didn't get to ride it more.

Nice but sad ending. I had a CB 360. Blue color this was in the mid 90’s. It was in immaculate shape. The 350’s were very popular in the day.

This was my fist bike when I was 16 years old. Purchased it new for $800. Cut grass and washed dishes to save money for it. You did one heck of a job restoring it. Sad ending to the bike....

Sadly it is the way of things.
I had one of the first Triumph Trophy 900s. It was when Triumph appeared to have risen from the dead and all my friends had bought them. I loved that bike, three cylinder music. I went to the TT on it, toured to the south of France, holidays in Europe, all over Britain. I just absolutely loved it and kept it pristine for twelve years.
I was fooled into buying a later Triumph because it was “better” (thanks UK motorcycle press). My Trophy went to a friend’s motorcycle nut Uncle. I was so pleased. It had gone to family. Pleased right up until I next saw it. It was trashed. The Uncle had ridden it through winter salt and not cleaned it once and dropped it a couple of times. I was heartbroken and then he smashed it and wrote it off, all within a year.
