    I live in central Texas and was warned about the spay foam insulation holding moisture that can cause mold, so my central air unit has a dehumidifier built in.

    I’m from MS too, my husband and I would love to build a Pole Barn house one day. 😅 I actually found your Channel from your Wife’s Channel and I hope she’ll start back making videos! 😊 If you turn this into a shop one day that’s a great idea, but y’all have done a great job making this into a beautiful home! 😍

      Well thanks for watching both channels! I’ll try to talk her into making another soon. Always appreciate a fellow Mississippian watching!

    Glad to see y’all enjoying your home!
    Any plans to install an ERV to bring in fresh air? I’d be concerned about C02 levels especially in the winter when you keep the windows closed longer.

      I’ve not considered one but you’ve sparked my curiosity 🤔

    I don't u/stand...what is a "VENTED" house? What makes a "TRADITIONAL" house vented, & why is a barndominium, NOT "vented"?

    • @LifeOnTheRidge
      @LifeOnTheRidge  Месяц назад

      Our particular house isn’t vented. Not all barndo’s are sealed. Vented just means your house can breathe. You have ridge vent on roof and vented soffit under eaves of roof

    You don't have any vents on your roof? Even my little double wide trailer has a couple little air vents up on the roof.

    So, you would not recommend spray foam due to the humidity problem?

    • @LifeOnTheRidge
      @LifeOnTheRidge  4 месяца назад

      If your house is completely sealed you will have to control your indoor moisture. The correct HVAC unit can help with this. I didn’t have the correct one installed therefore I have to run a dehumidifier. One of those, hindsight is 20/20 things

      I have spray foam in the roof, and batt insulation in the walls. So far, just keeping the windows, and doors open when the weather is nice keeps the air fresh, and helps with humidity control . Lack of air flow is an issue with any new building due to building codes and etc.

    Ditch the humidifier and install a humidistat on your hvac unit. Problem solved for less than $50

    • @LifeOnTheRidge
      @LifeOnTheRidge  Год назад

      How is a switch going to remove humidity? You would still need a dehumidifier. My HVAC unit does not have one therefore I have to use the standalone dehumidifier.

    • @vandalorian8777

      @@LifeOnTheRidge The AC acts as the dehumidifier . I live in Florida (The Humidity Capital) and they are very common here. Especially with people who are only here part time. When not here the set the humidistat and it keeps the humidity low, preventing mold and mildew.

      Orrrrrr I can run my dehumidifier which uses much less electricity!
      But hey, whatever gets the job done right? Haha

      @@LifeOnTheRidge You can but your portable unit isn’t circulating the air throughout the home so I doubt it’s doing the job properly
