    Bearing puller kit costs about $50; better, knowing in advance that you have to remove the bearing from the shaft (it's a press fit) why not rent a puller from your local parts supply shop. About $10 for half a day; a smoother operation, better than trying to beat the crap out of the old one hoping it comes off.

    The rear driveshafts on these things are such nonsense. The rear ends on these don't move around with the rear wheels because of the IRS, and the overall length of the driveshaft isn't that long. There's NO reason to have THREE flexures (rear CV, u-joint in the middle, flex disc at the front) plus a support bearing. Just one flex disc at the front, one flex disk at the rear (maybe), and that's it. That should be all that's required.

    Great not having to take the whole shaft down and out. I’m inspired to try this very soon. 👍🔧

    Really kool! Thank you for sharing your videos. I hear clucking noise under my x5. Would this be why?

    • @tempest411
      @tempest411 Год назад

      Could be. But there's lots of stuff that will go 'clunk' under an X5 as they get older and start falling apart. The noise could be coming from the rear subframe mounts, or the transmission mount as well. Or...the front driveshaft splines getting ready to let go if you haven't already replaced it with the longer shaft from Cobra Transmissions.

    Hi my X5 is making similar noise while putting in reverse and back in drive. Any idea what could be wrong and what’s the repair cost?

      It could be the center bearing or the U-joint. Best to get under there and check it out.
