Changing the name because of age ratings has appeared in other stuff as well, most notably Smash Brothers, which couldn't reference Doom or Assassin's Creed by name. Weirdly enough, it seems to only effect downloadable content, as they were obviously able to use Bayonetta and Metal Gear
Legacy DLCs are incredibly nostalgic. I don't buy the newer ones as much as I did the old ones, but I did buy the D&D one, and it's really good! It's a matter of finding what you like or what is good, and I like that small studios can basically make their own indie games within the Minecraft Bedrock engine, and receive a decent payout to fund themselves. I think it was reported that $500,000,000 has gone to independent Minecraft studios. Don't get me wrong, I usually only play Java, because I like the original feeling, and servers. It's nice that most Java mods are free unless the creator sets up a paywall on their website, which is entirely fair. I don't really play mods very often other than performance mods, and I mostly play servers like Hypixel that are pretty decent and don't support P2W. I think paid cosmetics, maps, or textures are okay because someone created them, and they deserve to be paid for their creativity. I don't think that paid competitive advantage is okay, and I am happy with Minecraft because they have banned this entirely, only allowing servers to charge for cosmetic/QoL content. Also, another cool thing is that you are allowed to make anything you want for free, and they will never limit this because it's what makes Minecraft Minecraft. [Although, good luck getting any NSFW things to pass the server/Marketplace content EULA]. On both Bedrock and Java, you can play with any skin you download. On Bedrock, there are also mods you can download from the web, and import into the game just like Java, just with less mods due to the smaller mod community. And it's really difficult and unintended for consoles, but still possible. I like that you are not forced to pay for anything in the base game, and that DLCs/servers are not allowed to have a P2W model. Overall it's all pretty good, and what you do is entirely up to you, and your preference.
I honestly do not understand the hate for the Marketplace. Yes, you can get maps/skins/texture packs for free on PC, but that's on PC. File manipulation like that doesn't _exist_ on consoles, so the only way to get that stuff is DLC. It's either getting this stuff via DLC or not getting it at all.

Fun fact. The .99 at the end making it 49.99 4,999.99 etc is a marketing strategy. Might be purely American thinking but the idea is the consumer sees a 4 in front not a 5. to be honest i don’t think this is the developers fault entirely. when minecraft first came out a lot of us were young and simply enjoyed creating and shared those creations for free just for the fun of it. nowadays that we’re older and freelancing digitally has become more and more popular the once young creators became older and interested in money as they were introduced into society and decided why not let people pay who are going to pay and so mojang (Microsoft) seen a gap in the market and decided to make a place where they could upload those creations officially under the minecraft name on the game itself bringing more eyes to their maps/skins and make a profit off a % of the sales as well. i don’t think it was necessarily evil corporate greed but there for sure was at some level being seen by the paid skin packs on the console versions where as pc you could change your skin to literally whatever you wanted for free
Wait. Did you say that every official texture pack they've ever sold is kept up to date to this day? As in the new content added to minecraft has a different texture made for every texture pack, ready the day the update releases? _Guys I think I found out why Mojang is so slow to add new content to their game_
I’m pretty sure that those are different people updating the packs. No way they put their lead devs on “texture duty” for weeks until everything is ready to ship
@@valleyforgeproductions Well yeah, naturally. But if all the texture packs are up to date the day the update is live, then that had to have taken some amount of coordination behind the scenes, potentially slowing down the process had it just been an independent texture pack like you'd see on Java.
Minecraft markeplace is a unique thing because, like Lego, you can do so much with Minecraft that your own fan-created content almost becomes a game in and of itself. Just look at Decked Out. Imagine if that was a marketplace map
42:28 that isn't really a bug. Talked to some map developers about that. That happens to content that is only available for limited time but no content can be removed from the marketplace without the players who "bought" it losing it as well. So they can only unlist items (if you know the url you can still buy it), not actually delete them. Hence jacking up the price to prevent people from buying it.
36:58 "this is my most exepensive skin" no its not all of those items you could get for free at a certain three week time priod or the periodic free items of which the sea horse head was a free item so where the crocs the wings and the life preserver i can even say the entire free aet that came with the life preserver they are th life preserver, the sunken captain hat, the sunken captain robe
Honestly if all of the mashup packs had the same level of quality and play-time as the star wars one I would be buying them all the time, i think it comes down to a lack of quality, lets be honest the star wars one has been the only decent one so far, and i say decent because even though it was great, it was buggy asf, had its flaws, and still is only about 3 hour playtime to completion. they kinda advertised it as more of an rpg where you could explore on your own so that was kind of annoying, but still, it was a very unique experience, if all of them felt like that id buy em more often
But still i searched "free mcpe dlc" And i got a playlists of free maps from marketplace and mojang still doesnt know it💀 (Also the maps that i said "free" were paid so i can get them for free)
You know, I kind of assumed that the reason for the pack names changing was due to licencing, maybe the contracts for Halo, Skyrim, Fallout and Mass Effect just hadn't been renewed. The actual reason is genuinely one of the more laughably idiotic things I've heard in my lifetime.

to be honest i don’t think this is the developers fault entirely. when minecraft first came out a lot of us were young and simply enjoyed creating and shared those creations for free just for the fun of it. nowadays that we’re older and freelancing digitally has become more and more popular the once young creators became older and interested in money as they were introduced into society and decided why not let people pay who are going to pay and so mojang (Microsoft) seen a gap in the market and decided to make a place where they could upload those creations officially under the minecraft name on the game itself bringing more eyes to their maps/skins and make a profit off a % of the sales as well.
i don’t think it was necessarily evil corporate greed but there for sure was at some level being seen by the paid skin packs on the console versions where as pc you could change your skin to literally whatever you wanted for free
32:30 It's weird cause they have already done the work with education edition
At first when I saw the title and length I was worried but I remembered it's in the same series as the minigame stuffs and I'm exited
I love how mojang essentially got away with making their own form of Bethesda's creation club
Here preventing kids from saying first
Well to late
Just released I’m not💀
Minecraft markeplace is a unique thing because, like Lego, you can do so much with Minecraft that your own fan-created content almost becomes a game in and of itself.
Just look at Decked Out. Imagine if that was a marketplace map
I’m sorry for your loss bro
I can't believe I've watched this huge segment on mash-up maps and still don't understand what is the point of them.
content
its like those mega calculators, theyre there and you cant get them. thats it
You skipped Norse Mythology, the best of the Mythology Mashup packs.
I never new you had to pay to get the maps to save that used to annoy me so much when I was younger
I can play Bedrock on Linux, but I haven't checked to see if the store works.
I love Java and the mod packs
I remember playing the adventure time mash up on my ps3
oh hey you can see IBXToymaps in some of those graphs!
44:05 piu, luckily it's only 67265.69 (nice) CHF.
42:28 that isn't really a bug. Talked to some map developers about that. That happens to content that is only available for limited time but no content can be removed from the marketplace without the players who "bought" it losing it as well. So they can only unlist items (if you know the url you can still buy it), not actually delete them. Hence jacking up the price to prevent people from buying it.
based cape
I have to ask what is that's cape you where using toy cat?
36:58 "this is my most exepensive skin"
no its not all of those items you could get for free at a certain three week time priod or the periodic free items of which the sea horse head was a free item so where the crocs the wings and the life preserver i can even say the entire free aet that came with the life preserver they are th life preserver, the sunken captain hat, the sunken captain robe
Bro the marketplace is still a joke
Interesting video
Honestly if all of the mashup packs had the same level of quality and play-time as the star wars one I would be buying them all the time, i think it comes down to a lack of quality, lets be honest the star wars one has been the only decent one so far, and i say decent because even though it was great, it was buggy asf, had its flaws, and still is only about 3 hour playtime to completion. they kinda advertised it as more of an rpg where you could explore on your own so that was kind of annoying, but still, it was a very unique experience, if all of them felt like that id buy em more often
Sorry about your loss
But still i searched "free mcpe dlc"
And i got a playlists of free maps from marketplace and mojang still doesnt know it💀
(Also the maps that i said "free" were paid so i can get them for free)
Probably the only pack that’s a must buy is the star wars one the others don’t 😂
I wonder why they did not release a Gravity Falls mash up pack.
Doesn’t bedrock for PlayStation have tokens?
minecraft bedrock should be free because of the marketplace
and this would make it easier for those who play online mode on the console
I didn’t see the adventure time mash up
He forgot about the adventure time mash up ☹️
You know, I kind of assumed that the reason for the pack names changing was due to licencing, maybe the contracts for Halo, Skyrim, Fallout and Mass Effect just hadn't been renewed.
The actual reason is genuinely one of the more laughably idiotic things I've heard in my lifetime.
Great video
You forgot to nention norse nytholigy mashup which was the first map i ever bought
@@luissuazo3684 at the time i didnt know what a mashup was got a sale on it when i saw it was a world i was happy tho i never use it anymore i only do worlds that are like seperate games and add uniquiness to minecraft
I swear you people are told to ignore Enderbent ever since I turned down Microsoft wanting to sell it on Realms.
