The title of this episode is Head To Head, and that describes how things are heating up with the opera house battles.
My plan is to give you a few videos for each episode and just focus on one or two aspects of the show, instead of a full recap. In this video, I'm going to focus on the trouble in the Russell household. I hope that you enjoy this review from Ti's Hot Mess History.
I hope things work out for Ada though I doubt it. I agree with something someone else mentioned about Agnes potentially being afraid of being alone.
Peggy is in for a rude awakening when she gets down there. And I think at this point we can assume that things with cousin dashell won’t work considering the extent to which the show has set up Larry being with Marian in the future.
It really does seem like we're supposed to expect Marian and Larry to end up together. Maybe Dashiell will end up with Larry's current "girlfriend". The ages would match up. LOL
Gheez I have to commend women who waited all these years for the rt partner. Kudos ladies.
Heavens Declare.
That's what I call patience. They truly loved each other. For Ada, that was worth the wait.
I really hope the preacher man isn't getting cozy with Ada as a play for Agnes. I also fear Armstrong using Peggy's writing of those letters to blackmail Agnes.
4:32 I thought that was really thoughtful of her to arrange that!!!
So sweet!
Yes her staff had to go to the market and pick up all the ingredients and then actually cook and serve it!
But yeah she gets all the credit 😂
And that's a good catch, because I didn't notice the clothes she was donating, were the extra sewing she had Armstrong doing!!!
Even the actual labor of her charity work....is done by someone else! 😮
That's how all the ladies did it at the time!
It's really eye opening!
It took me a while to catch that. I didn't think of it till I watched the episode a second time. You're right. It is eye opening. These ladies didn't do ANYTHING. LOL!
I'm LOVING your Guilded Age videos!!!❤️
I haven't actually read much about the actual people in history!
But I'm definitely going to now!
These are some fascinating families!
Thank you so much, Kyla! These people really were interesting.
Oh dear...I read that one of Alva’s grandson’s died in a car accident. I hope they don’t incorporate that into the Larry story.
3:14 more like a warm girl fall 😂 let me stop that seems ageist.
LOL! We need to let her have her fun. Hahaha!
Oh I can't wait to hear the reviews of Oscar Wildes play!!!😂😂😂
Must've been humbling!
He did get better thankfully!
I'm working on it today! They were brutal. LOL!
@@TisHotMessHistory thank you for doing this!!!
Thank you Ti for all the reviews and it’s getting good oh so good😊
Hey Puzzle Pieces! Thank YOU for watching. This show is SO good, and after tomorrow's episode, we're going to be halfway done with the season. Boo!
@@TisHotMessHistory I know and I’m soooo upset about the seasons ending so soon🤗🤗
@@TisHotMessHistorywaiting anxiously for renewal notice!
me too@@nexy007
same here @@LSTEdD1 !
Who is your favorite watercolorist? It’s yo mama 😅😂
LOL! I couldn't resist. She is my favorite.
I like Peggy, but at the same time, I just wanted to shake some common sense into her. She'll find out soon enough that everything her mom says is true. If she thinks Armstrong is hateful, just wait. When I see Larry and his "girlfriend", I always hear "Me & Mrs Jones" in my head, idk why, LOL.
I totally agree with you about Peggy. It amazes me that she could exist in THAT time and be THAT sheltered. Good point. She might want to hug Armstrong when she gets back to 61st Street.
Larry and his old lady. LOL!
I think in Agnes mind, Bertha should show gratitude that Mrs. Astor gave consequence to Bertha rather than totally freezing her out and treating her as if she doesn’t exist. Then Bertha had to hear Turner lord her box at the Academy over Bertha, insult the Met project and destroy her trust in George.
12:24 I wouldn't blame Watson for whatever he chooses!!!
It's so sad that he's in such an unfortunate situation and he sounds like he understands that it's his own responsibility to make his life the best he can....
But having to forsake seeing your own daughter and her children or stay being a servant where you know you're not wanted or welcome 😢
I'm with you. Either decision will be hard. I only hope that he is able to have a conversation with his daughter so that he can know for sure whether or not sending him away was her idea.
@@TisHotMessHistory I can't tell if she feels any love left for him!
He can't either! 😭
So far this season, the only couple I like is Ada and the preacher. Ada is definitely smitten and it shows. Marion was scolded last season for carrying a suitcase in the street and Ada is carrying a handful of old clothes. lol… The big effort with the soup ect…unfortunately this relationship is going to come with a lot of turmoil 😢I just adore Peggy and her poor mother will be scared out of her mind. I’m glad she set her straight because Peggy had this attitude that it was more like a fun trip and that’s not reality. I’m looking also looking forward to her costumes it’s such fun to see. I was a little disappointed that her boss is married, but it seems odd that his wife is never around and she would be okay with Peggy traveling with him because I know that would not fly at all in those times. I wonder if there is more to this story. Mrs Astor and Agnes are being unrealistic and in denial. They are surrounded by new money and it’s completely unrealistic to think that the new money is just supposed to hope one day , maybe get a box at the opera house. Sorry ladies, but really they can afford their own opera house and the old and new are welcome. I think it would be smart for Mrs Astor to go with it and that would keep her in the top of the pecking order.
HAHAHAHA! Good point about Ada carrying the clothes. Maybe she would have gotten in trouble if she had put them in a suitcase.
I'm actually glad that they made T Thomas Fortune married on the show. He was in real life by 1883, and I was hoping that they weren't trying to put Peggy in a situation to be his love interest.
I'm totally with you on Agnes and Mrs. Astor. They need to get with the times. The new money families are not going away, and they're not going to sit back and be second class citizens to the old guard.
Hey Ti I wished I could watch this one but wedo not get it. I enjoy your commentary 😊.
Hey Tammy! Thank you for watching my videos even though you don't watch the show. This is the only show I have wanted to see all year.
Something is up with Mr Luke. Idk what it is…..but something is off.
A lot of people are saying that. I wonder what it will be...
It is so weird that Thomas Fortune, who knows first hand the HORRORS of the south for black people, want to return there. AND HE WANTS TO BRING PEGGY WITH HIM! Again, I have a problem with the writing of this show, when it comes to POC.
I mean he does reference early how hard it will be for him and how Peggy can never understand since she was never enslaved, and it does take some convincing for him to take Peggy along. I would say Thomas is probably less hesitant to go himself, let alone bring Peggy, than he would have been in real life but I think Dorothy's talk kept the whole situation from being completely ahistorical and its not like Thomas really WANTS to go, its for work.
It's not weird at all that Thomas Fortune would "want" to return to the south. He wasn't going for vacation. He was going to cover a story. And he was known to accommodate Booker T. Washington in real life. He traveled to the south to cover stories. Though Peggy was a fictional character, it would not have been odd for a black woman to travel to the south as a journalist. Ida B. Wells did the same thing. Having an understanding of the real life history of this era would let you know that the writers are doing a pretty good job of delivering a fictional show with very realistic elements, reglavcor.
💯 it’s like they don’t know what to do with Peggy. 1st season everything was about the baby then to kill the baby off in episode 1 of season 2 🤨🧐🤔
I would like to make a film 📼 like this one
