Hi Gave, thanks for doing this thread and it's great to see your picks are all from the 80's. I really must get the Tracy Chapman album even if it is just on CD, I tended to veer towards Tanita Tikaram back in the day. In fact she is my all time favourite solo female artist.
I didn't manage to get all of my choices together for this, but I made some notes. I chose Hounds of Love (side b) as one of mine as well as Talk Talk! I agree with Sparkle in the Rain. Chapman and is also a fabulous choice. Excellent video 👍
Nice selection, Sir. Rio is an iconic 80s must have, indeed. Personally, I would have added Bill Nelson's The Love That Whirls to this selection as it is IMHO a truly underrated 80s gem whose author should get more attention on the vc when talking about the 1980s music.
Thanks Chris - an alert just popped up so have subbed back - still can’t understand how so many VC don’t turn up in my feed as your channel looks right up my street ! Will look forward to catching up on your back catalogue! There’s a bit of the hard rock on my channel too but only been going just over 6 months so a lot more to come ! Thanks for the sub again 👍🤘🇬🇧
That Tracey Chapman album used to be a staple of charity shops, usually priced at £2.50, but a couple of years ago it suddenly shot up in price and now you'd struggle to get one for under £20 (and I've seen it go for a lot more). Typically I never picked it up back in the day. I was never a Duran fan but I do have a copy of Rio and need to give it another go. I'm afraid I don't touch Guns'n'Roses or Bon Jovi with a bargepole, but all power to those who do.🤣 Really like The House of Love though.
Yep the Chapman goes for serious money at record fairs - don’t think it’s ever been repressed? I’ll let you off the rock section dismissal as it’s you and you like the House of Love ❤️ 👍 thanks for watching - I’m doing you CD thread next ☝️
I do like some heavy rock! Ironically, my partner was a leather and hair-spray rock chick back in our student days (before we were together) and was really into Bon Jovi. She doesn't listen to them anymore though thank God.
Hounds Of Love is perfect. Nice to see some love for House Of Love. All your choices here are excellent!
@@Mfidelity thanks for watching and most excellent comments ! Big House of Love fan here as well 👍🫡🇬🇧
Great 80s themed response Gav. All good choices and I'm definitely with you with Marillion, Kate and Talk Talk...cheers Dale

@@frenchvinyladdict thanks Romi - not heard of that Bill Nelson - will check it out 👍🫡🇬🇧
Just found your channel through Robert’s On My Turntable and subbed. Been doing this VC thing for about 5 years now.

@jamesgriffithsmusic my wife’s a big Bon Jovi fan - they are a great live band - unleash your inner hair metal James and surprise the wife tonight!
