At this point i wouldnt be surprised if these "journalists" have a few pormpts ready to use AI to blast the fans.

Shall we crunch the numbers? The viewing minutes works out to about 6m viewers (for E1/E2). For a $180m budget, and realistic $5 per viewer profit (after service costs and taking into account their savage discounting deals), the even if those viewers are subscribing to D+ for nothing else except the Acolyte, they need to retain them for _6 months_ in order to pay for this. They're financial incompetents.

They took the open ending of Episode 6 and closed it down to one person. So, they went back and shoved a bunch of stories in between other stories. It's like publishing a four comic book series that takes place between X-Men 106 and X-Men 107.

I don't know the numbers but I would say the old EU did more to grow the audience than the prequels. The prequels were a let down for most but provided a foundation for others to build off of. The games, cartoons, comics and merch that came out of it were what kept Star Wars fresh in the minds of fans and kids. It is a testament to how bad Dissney has bungled Star Wars that people are looking back so fondly to the Prequels now.

So…they’re trying to reach a young crowd. Okay cool. Now they’re trying to reach a more female crowd. Okay, but you’ve left out a segment of your original viewers. Now you’re looking to cater to the female/LGBTQ crowd. So you’ve dwindled your viewership down to a very, VERY small segment of the viewing demographic, and -cism and -phobia are to blame? No, Moonlight, Brokeback Mountain, Everything Everywhere All at Once, all did very well with critics and audiences. Why? Because they weren’t Star Wars! If Darth Vader landed his shuttle on Brokeback Mountain, fans and critics would say it’s completely out of place because Darth Vader has as much business in Brokeback Mountain as Brokeback Mountain does in Star Wars. And it’s not just LGBTQ messaging that’s not so subtly included. For instance, there wasn’t a pie fight in the climax of The Exorcist. There weren’t jump scares from undead nuns in Blazing Saddles. It’s called losing the plot, Disney, and shielding yourselves from it by attacking fans will not regain it.

I liked watching the acolyte. But don't get it mistaken - the show is horrendous, the writing is absolutely worse than trash. But it was enjoyable to watch in the meaning that it was so bad and dumb it was good if you know what I mean. I got so many laughs out of this show. Also I'm a believer of not blindly following reviewers opinions but form my own first. In case of this show every reviewer bashing it is right

Moat women in my experience like soap opera drama, relationships, love stories. You have female nerds, my wife has a couple friends who are into nerd stiff. But they aren't a majority of females. The stuff I like, Godfather, action films, Barbie ripped on dudes mansplaining the Godfather. They aren't watching it and I am a lifelong Stat Wars fan who hasn't watched anything Star Wars since Obi Wan. This is failure and it's more fun to watch you giys rip on Stat Wars than it is to watch Star Wars.

The chart is a lie, unfortunately. Acolyte numbers are for 5.5 weeks, while the rest are for 12 weeks. That said, extrapolating it is still the weakest.

Andor is Star Wars for people who grew up with the OT and are now old... It's a much more mature show than most of their other output and would have done very well had it come after Mando S2 or Rogue One. Also if they'd been bothered to market it at all. Many old SW fans had already been overcome with apapthy when Andor came out (I was one) and passed it over. Word of mouth made me watch it finally and it (along with Rogue One) are the only Disney Star Wars shows that I think perfectly complement the OT. Mando S1&2 are good, but they couldn't leave it be. It ended well... But no, we've got to try and milk it for all it's worth and in doing so via Book of Boba Fett, Mando S3 and now the upcoming movie, they've sown apathy for that IP also by oversaturation and a marked decline in the story telling.

Peak irony is that Disney doesn't understand what kids want. They also don't understand what existing fans of the IP want.

Nah man, Andor was never going to work. It’s Star Wars but functionally without the force, lightsabers, or space battles. So, they went and took out all the spectacle and focused on drama. I’m glad people like it, but you’re delusional to think Andor was ever going to appeal to a mass audience same as OG Star Wars.
Not to mention, most people who praise it say you need multiple episodes to really get into it. So, you want people to watch multiple hours of a show to see if it’s for them? If you can’t capture the audiences attentions in the first episode, you’ve failed. Maybe more people who like Andor should understand that while pilot episodes have started to fade due to streaming, that doesn’t negate the purpose of the pilot episode.
Also, Mando season 2 was bad too.

@@bwhere45 I'll agree on the slow burn of Andor. It's not a sexy endeavor and it's not for everyone, but it's amazing TV. We got a great build up from the tension in the prison to the release. Then we also had that that tension build up with the antiquities house politicking, culminating with that legendary monologue on Coruscant. They gave ultra nerds (fans who actually buy stuff) creative fragments of lore from other SW projects and films. We got to see active rebellions taking place at the ground level. We got more of a sense of the ways these characters were subverting fascism. Imps were not shown as bumbling idiots. They were shown as gatekeepers of their little fiefdoms. They showed the warts of that life. It wasn't a cartoonish caricature of humanity in white armor falling over itself. It wasn't a social justice showcase. It was a deeper narrative about choice making that anyone who has experienced a good bit of humanity could relate to. It was beautiful and I want more.
Mando 2 I will accept as a fun popcorn adventure. That show should have stopped there though. Jedi Academy should have been the next spinoff.

@@deepzone31 a slow and worthwhile burn it may be, but you have to understand that it's unreasonable to ask your average viewer to consume multiple hours of content to see if they're into it.
Truly, I've heard nothing but almost universal praise, but that won't sway me. At best, what we were given was one good season, nothing more. Disney will tamper with it and I've watched too many shows that were cancelled in the second or third season in the last 10 years to truly care about a show that clearly doesn't have a chance. I can't imagine KK and Filoni won't get their hands on it and mess it up before there's a reasonable conclusion.
For Mando, if they had gotten rid of baby yoda like they appeared to be, it might have had a better chance (but I kind of doubt it). Who that show appealed to (star wars fans) is very much not the audience Disney has any care about keeping around.
