  • After 6 years and 400000kms I thought it was time to look at a new touring vehicle. Originally I had bought another Ranger 2020, manual and had plans on extending, GVM upgrades and new setup, but timeframes and the thoughts of possibly still having to go through the issues I have again turned my attention to other options. Don't get me wrong, I have loved the Ranger and I still enjoy driving it, but it was time for it to have an easier life and just work around home on the electrical side of things. Thus began the endless discussions on what to go with next, what was going to give me the longevity, flexibility, storage and reliability I need for both remote electrical work, family holidays and the tours of course. Then add to this the timeframe of tour season fast approaching and as always the dollars. Long hours of research, scrolling and endless messages and emails it was decided, a 79 series cruiser was what I needed, now to find the right one. More hours of clicking, going over mods, how many kilometers? how old? extended or not extended? canopy already fitted out or open slate? In January 2024 we found what we thought was the best fit for us, a 2019 twin cab, pre rego GVM upgrade so 2020 first registered, and it had all the hard, time consuming works done, chassis extended and braced, coil conversion, diff correction and upgrade, load rated rims all part of the Superior Engineering Outback Tourer kit, open canopy, low kilometers, window tint all we needed to do was the canopy fit out and a few extras (or so we thought). I have had a fair bit done in to the set up, some luxury and some mechanical and necessary upgrades to make sure I stay on the road all season. I hope you enjoy the review and if you have any questions please put them in the comments and I will be sure to get back to you. Thanks for watching.

Maybe some rockslider side steps to protect the sills.

Thanks Paul, I have scrub bars and side steps on my list to still do, along with roof and centre consoles.
