Since l learnt this song l can't help crying when l see cranes flying in autumn above my house. It's a very sad song but beautifully written.l like each interpretation.
Bulldog96 ... you have done an excellent interpretation. Best I've seen yet. This song can be applied to all soldiers ... all nations .. Death has no choice of nationality or language. We are all guaranteed it! I must say, of all the countries I have lived in, Russian people by far have the greatest soul and concept of life .. they are non materialist people. A nation that has suffered tremendous hardships, sacrifices never knowing what the next day brings. Russians have an extraordinary ability to tolerate, laugh at themselves and find solace in simplicity. A greatly misunderstood nation indeed! Not to mention a highly intelligent average citizens at that with a very high love of poetry, arts and musical culture. I have not found such a combination tanywhere else in the world.
Oh my, what a beautiful truthful comment. These are exactly my feelings and observations. Especially what's going on nowadays with Russia and Ukraine. Brothers and Sisters made to fight each when they did NOT want to do that, just because of the greedy materialist colonizers. Thank you for this❤
I guess it sounds strange to say that i first heard this song as a opening theme of this Korean(south) drama called Morae Shige meaning Hour Glass. I love this song! And thx for the translation! I'm taking Russian class at school, i hope i can understand its deep meaning in the words someday
This is the song for all families who lost sons, husbands and fathers in wars in the world, and its lyrics (made by a poet Rasul Gamzatov) based on an origami-crane loving girl died by A-bomb in Hiroshima
I will click 'invocation by Jo Aram' after this Crane. The flock of crane often fly over Korean peninsula when winter is approaching and some of Korean myths say they are spirits from northern snow country. Farmers leave some bean, sorghum or cone for them. They have own song 'Invocation', calling back spirit of dead beloved, including soldier father or soldier son who never return from war.
Brought tears to my eyes for all the young soldiers who never got to celebrate the end of any and all wars, most still in the prime of their lives. NOBODY wins in war, the scars dig deep. Seeing in real-time the tragedy and loss of in Ukraine a
… brings it to the surface. The devastation and carnage to the Ukrainians and the young Russian soldiers leaves one sick to the stomach. I have always felt leaders should be isolated to work out their disputes between themselves and to leave innocent people or of it. 🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
@Beskidekk The translation is very much in line with the song. Seems to me that you are a Russian speaking and translation never is easy to an average person specially when it comes to a poetry or songs. Criticizing always is a very easy option to all of us; perhaps you could come up with a better translation, more curate and full of poetry... I very doubt it though as the song is very much understandable and felt by the Russians and very few other nations that experienced atrocities of WW2...
Wonderful, haunting melody…
One of the most moving songs…in whatever language. Beautiful 2:13

The power of the poetry, I am deeply moved.
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Such simple and meaningful melody too. 👏👏👏❤️
Fine translation! Beautifully expressive voice. Yet Dmitri Hvorostovski remains supreme and unique, and for ever regretted.
This may be true, but someone in zRussia did away with the English translation. I blame Putin….

I adore this song as it is so dismal dedicated to the brave ones changed into cranes that sore above us as a reminder of the war and korastovsky
Tierna melodía, dulce murmureo.

Putin is mentally I’ll. There can be no discussions with him. There must none some legal way to remove him….
Russian and Ukrainian Families will be singing this song today.
