Why do many people talk about Henry's infidelity, but no one mentions that Frances cheated on her husband while he was at war? She dated many men, one of whom shot through the ceiling at Fonda's house while drunk.
In addition, Fonda canceled the divorce proceedings when he learned of Frances's illness. This was recounted by Susan's brother. Henry explained that he could not leave his wife at a time like this. Besides, Frances's mother remained on good terms with Henry for many years after. What kind of mother would agree to live in the home of someone who had abused her daughter? She knew what her daughter was.
The mention of a "psychiatrist" who has left such epithets about Fonda is disconcerting. A psychiatrist describing someone they doesn't know with such words raises doubts about their professionalism. And who is she, anyway? The doctor who treated Frances was named Robert P. Knight, and not only did he not say anything bad, he wrote a letter to Henry and his family in which he explained why no one could be blamed for what had happened.
Only a lazy person doesn't mention Jane's and Peter's dissatisfaction with their father. But both Jane and Peter loved their father and stayed with him till the end. And I've never seen them say these words in person. It was only written in the "dirty" newspapers. Peter once said in an interview that journalists asked a question about his father, got an answer and then wrote something completely different, passing on the same gossip.
So I don't respect those who try besmirch the name of the great actor. But you have a different message, so thank you for the video!
