If i see someone on the big bag with bag mitts, the repsect goes out the window. Also, sparring tip, check the weight of your sparring partners gloves before you spar. Some sneaky pricks try to use lighter gloves without their opponent knowing. They gain speed and a little more pain if they connect. As always, loving your channel Boxing Bros.
Why does you respect go out the window that's how you train, it's both for conditioning and accuracy while forcing you to have proper form. Every old school boxer trained like that in many modern boxers still train like that as well especially on the bag
@@alejandromelecio hiya dude, I do occasionally go to 14oz, but rarely. Too much bag work wearing light gloves leaves you open to hand injuries. I disagree with light gloves helping your accuracy or form, that should come from hard work and repetition and hours in the gym. Old school boxers used smaller gloves for a number of reasons: gloved boxing developed from bare-knuckle boxing; bags were not packed a tightly as they are today. If you put out 6-8-10+ rounds on a modern bag with small gloves your hands will be mincemeat. Each to their own. some dudes walk into a boxing gym and make out they've got fast hands until you look closer and they're wearing 10oz.
No cap, I just got some 16's to start training in Muy Thai. I was thinking more along the lines of protection for my hands and my future sparring partners. The lowest I'm going will probably be 14 for pads and bags.
I use 18s on the heavy bag sparring and mitts, I only wear 16 oz if I forgot my 18s at home or if I'm sparring somebody that wants to wear 16 oz that's my weight size then I'll put some 16 oz on
It’s best to try other knuckle condition exercises. Your gloves help distribute the force among the bones in your hand and wrists, helping you train more by reducing the load on your joints.
The myth that "hitting a bag with small gloves makes your hands stronger is a myth" is a myth. Stats show that boxers have a higher chance of breaking their hands compared to MMA or BKFC fighters. But this stat is kinda flawed because it does not account for the number of punches thrown. It's funny to me that someone who broke their wrist inside a glove says that they protect you well. And why exactly do you think that punching bare knuckle does not strengthen your hands, when it is commonly believed that shin conditioning works and depth jumps, a very high impact plyometric, has been proven to increase bone density? The answer is because your coach said so, or because you don't actually know how to punch. Gloves teach you to punch wrong, and they hide your mistakes. You broke your wrist because you hit the pad with a bent wrist. You hit the pad with a bent wrist because you never really learned how to hold your fists when punching. That was not just a one time mistake, it is bound to happen to some degree to any boxer who does not know how to punch, you just got it the worst. You should not punch bare knuckle more than twice a week, and you should start light. I have been doing this for over a year, and now I can punch a 55kg heavy bag full power with no gloves while punching harder than when I started. If you can't punch bare knuckle, you don't know how to punch.
What actually protects your hands are the wraps. They help distribute the force evenly among your hands and wrists. And as for bare knuckle most pro fights purposefully don’t throw their strongest punches so that they don’t screw up their hands. Your hands are made up of a good amount of small bones. It’s no wonder they’re prone to being broken when you’re a pro fighter and able to throw a mean punch. Gloves are why boxers are able to throw at full power.
10 oz gloves even on a bag of 27,5 kg hurts my knuckles fingers. Bag over 64 kg 14 oz or more , don't care about your size weight no way under 14 oz on bag over 55 kg
If you need gloves for the heavy bag you don’t box. I conditioned my knuckles in countless bare knuckle street fights I can hit a cleto Reyes bag all day. Those with over about 85 street fights like me know.

When there are gloves which are basically made for the bags where there's just a thin layer of leather on your knuckles, I'd say going smaller is fine
Love these guys lol

24 oz gloves for sparring Club.
As a beginner, I have been using 14 oz Ringside. Though it's not 16 oz, it's just as big. Should I switch to 16 oz for the bag?
Nice! Can we get a tour of the new gym?
What if my hands are too big for 10 oz but i want to strengthen my knuckles? I’m 6’2” 210 pounds, is it safe to size down?

Hey guys are there 16 oz gloves but in the size of a 12 oz? For many practical reasons thatd be the dream glove for me.
Try revgear. Hard2hurt did a review on a specific model, and that one was the same oz as other brands but more compact
You missed the verdict on 14s guys?
Palm up or down on hooks?
None of these fit me except 16OZ as Im a 6'5 guy weighing 105KG. Anything below 16 hurts my thumb and wrist during strikes.
