Hayley takes my breath away. Just hearing her speak makes my heart flutter and breathe heavy. So intelligent, kind, and talented. I would do anything to meet her.
Yes she did! I remember when I was in the cinema looking forward to see her and she really blew my mind. She was so natural in every scene and most of all it looked as if I had been like a walk in a park for her. She was so charming and no one had to telegraph that to us. In fact I think she would have been great pick for The Lara Croft. Her comedic timing is spot on, she can be sassy, cheeky, badass, care free and definitely has the looks for it. In other words she has all what's needed, no need for any compromises!
Hayley is a really lovely, intelligent woman with such an interesting take on life. So happy for her success in this role! Josh, you are such an amazing interviewer - you bring so much heart and genuineness. Thanks for a great conversation.
Absolutely loved her in MI Dead Reckoning ! The chemistry between her and Tom Cruise was through the roof, and made me gloss over the few flaws I didn't like about the movie (a bit of a cartoonish villain and ultra-villain, that don't do much in the movie, and everybody talking in the same slow, clear, enunciated cadence, except for Grace, Ethan and Benji, which made them the standouts). I feel this role is as career-defining to her than her role in the MCU as Agent Carter. I mean, sure a role in the MCU (especially jumping on the train while it was still at the station) and you feel like her career would be set, but damn ! A role in a Mission Impossible with Tom Cruise where every big set of stunt is analog (irl instead of greenscreen/CG) feels like a graduation to ACTUAL filmmaking ! Also, I love how raw she got over her (half) role in MoM, and how she actually enjoyed more working on What If ? I feel like lot of people are talking smack about What if, but it did bring us Captain Carter, T'Challa as Star Lord, reformer of Thanos (!!!), Darker Strange (the best episode, hands down), and Infinity Ultron, by far THE most menacingly dangerous villain of the entire MCU so far, absolutely limitless in his powers and able to devour the entire multiverse, Gurren Lagann style ! Once again, fantastic interview, Josh ! I already loved her from her roles, but seeing her in these press junkets made me love her even more. She's a living incarnation of educated elegance with a big sense of fun ! Her laugh is so contagious ! And you managed to pull all that out in the open ^^. As always with everybody you interview ! Props to you, sir, and thank you for all the good time you bring them, then us by side effect.
What a damn fine actress There's not a roll that she can't do that, she can't master. I'm incredibly impressed with her passion for the arts. Can't wait to check this episode.
She was so awesome in MI: Dead Reckoning Part one & her chemistry with Ethan Hunt was electrifying, it was almost like "where was she all these years" After the MCU.
Great interview with the very talented Hayley Atwell. I have been watching her since the Agent Carter tv series. The Dubsmash war between the casts of Agent Carter and Agents of Shield was a comedic highlight. I have since watched a lot of her outstanding past performances: How About You?, Restless, The Duchess, Pillars of the Earth, Howards End.
Just from the clips I have seen of her, she is brilliant and the most real and likeable of all the ladies in the MI:DEAD RECKONING movie. And she looks amazing in this.
I sometimes wonder if I was the only person who was super excited for that Captain Carter live action D+ show. It’s probably not happening anymore but I will forever hope that it happens. Seeing her in Dr Strange MoM in the full suit (before the unfortunate death) was so awesome
She was unbelievable in mission impossible 7 with Tom Cruise they gave her a much better part in this movie than she had with Captain America and I loved her and Captain America.
She was fabulous is this. It took a bit for me to get her character but it’s a wonderful transition. The fear on her eyes and shaking hands whether she’s just playing or not.
😂 She has too many faces . My gosh ! I've looked at her characters in a pasts and it all looks different characters !! What a lady ! She is such a impressive actress with real acting skills ! She is Da BOMB !! 😂❤
Just watched this godawful Woody Allen movie CASSADRA'S DREAM again - only because of Hayley. When I saw it the first time in 2007 I thought: "Wait a sec - who is THIS??!?" and she is still the only fascinating role in this misdirected "thriller". And as I am not very much into those MCU movies (too old, I guess) I just re-discovered Hayley in M:I Dead Reckoning. Instant crush again!!! This very charming interview adds to it. Thanks!
Loved Hayley in the film. She brought a good, fresh energy to the franchise. She's not the first civilian in the film 11:09 *, if anyone is that would have been Julia, Ethan's former wife in the series. I can understand the need for Hayley's character to enter just to freshen up things. Her character isn't necessary for where the story has been going, especially with Julia essentially giving blessing to Ilsa Faust to be with Ethan, Rebecca Ferguson's character at the end of Fallout. But it shows the nature of the high stakes they are involved in and how the job of an IMF agent won't allow Ethan to be tied down romantically to one woman. Anything can happen out in the field. But it is worth noting that the character of Hunt is so respectful of his connections and relationships throughout these films that it is never done distastefully. That is a very calculated W for the win column regarding the character of Ethan Hunt being painted in the right light. That is not easy to write for. Hayley's character felt more deliberate entering the film than Rebecca Ferguson did when she first entered, but it works for the everyday high-stakes lifestyle that Ethan has as an IMF agent. The character of Ethan Hunt is essentially America's James Bond. They tried to do that with the Jason Bourne films through Matt Damon and Jeremy Renner and failed. Cruise took up this franchise and ran with it, giving his all for the sake of cinema and has become America's definitive super spy. I don't think anyone will follow after Tom with M:I when he eventually decides to quit after completely telling his story, due to severity of danger and the financial lock Cruise has on the franchise, but this is by far, as good as we get from America's standpoint and Cruise is delivering non-stop, from the first film to now.
I adored Captain Carter because Peggy is one of my favorite characters in the MCU, and I agree with Hayley. Peggy deserved better than how she ended up in Multiverse of Madness; the way the wrote her didn’t feel like Peggy. And that’s coming from someone who’s grown attached to the character over the years. And I LOVE that she’s hitting her second big breakout with MI8. Her character Grace was the star of the movie, at least to me. And I can see why she said Grace would be Peggy Carter’s little sister 😂. I can’t wait to see more of her in Part 2 🙏🏻.
Thanks Josh. Heard this on podcast. You are an excellent interviewer (not just with Hayley but everyone you interview). 👍 Hayley is right about Capt Carter in Dr Strange MoM. That line is Steve Rogers line and speaks to HIS character. She is her own person and deserved more than what we saw in that movie. What If did give her more but I felt repeated too much of Steve as well. Wish they gave more thought to who Peggy really is outside of Steve. ✌️
I'm kind of tiffed off after DR:P1. It has become abundantly clear that Mission treats women as disposable objects. Not in a James Bond way where you know the woman is a temporary fixture - Mission bonds you to Ethan, makes you want him to be happy, and then Keri Russell - dead, Bridget Monaghan written out, Rebecca Ferguson dead, heck record store girl dead...honestly I just want to see Ethan have a happy successful relationship or no relationship tease at all. I can't really care about a relationship with Haley Atwell - Ilsa was dead a few days and he's making eyes at Haley it started making feeling Ethan feel gross to me for the first time.
I love her in Strange, it was awesome to see her as Captain Carter in a movie after watching her in what if! The line “I can do this all day” was perfection to me. I wish she realized how her appearance in it made this movie experience so much more exciting and intense because there’s history behind it. I also wish we got to see her more as Captain Carter but I’’ really happy she was in Strange.
Except her character has nothing to do with that line, it's specifically referencing Steve's background and as based Hayley pointed out in the interview - she literally can't cause she gets instakilled
me personaly i wanna see allot more of captain carter and now that captain america is retired its the perfect time,in the app game marvel strike force she is one of my favorite charcs. thing is i like her but she hasnt been in much in a way i like, peggy cater was one charc i like but for the rest she hasnt done anny "cool" roles untill maybe this mission impossible movie that am gonna see tonight, she needs to do more like these types of movies.

Huge fan of her and had no idea she was in the new Mission Impossible! I do have to say, her bit about saying they need to do more with Captain Carter...do they? She might be a bit bummed about Multiverse of Madness, but her role was a cameo. I don't think she/the character got screwed or anything, a cameo is exactly that: a small, walk-on role. That scene was a glimpse at one of many alternate universes, that's all. Between that and the What-If episode, I think Captain Carter as a concept has had its time in the MCU and any more would just be more of what we've already seen from Captain America with a Peggy Carter-coating. Maybe an animated spin-off with a few more episodes set in that What-If world at most, but other than that, I think there's so many more original Marvel heroines that haven't seen exposure to live action (or if they have, haven't been done justice. Looking at Pyslocke for example...) that deserve solid adaptations. So while I wish her the best career-wise, between the Agent Carter series, her multiple cameos throughout the MCU (Winter Solider, Endgame, Ant-Man, MoM) and her role in First Avenger, I think she's had a good amount of screentime and a solid impact on the MCU and it's time to wrap things up. She should definitely be in more stuff like Mission Imposssible though!
I don't think it had anything to do with misogyny. Rebecca Ferguson was a big part of the previous two Mission Impossible movies and when you see a name like Hayley Atwell, you know that unless she's on of the villains, she's likely going to be taking Rebecca's spot. That's what a lot of people felt. I'm not going to give anything away, but after watching the movie it felt that way even more.

I could listen to hayley for 3 hours straight and never get tired. What a nice interview
Could you do this all day 😝 hahaha
Same
It's high time for Hayley Atwell..
She deserves this and much more..
❤ love from India
Loved her in the MCU. Glad she is getting big roles still.
Same
They did her so dirty when they cancelled Agent Carter.
Hayley takes my breath away. Just hearing her speak makes my heart flutter and breathe heavy. So intelligent, kind, and talented. I would do anything to meet her.
Just saw Dead Reckoning. Love this woman. She stole just about every scene she was in.

I’m late to the Hayley Atwell fandom…and now I will be here til the lights come on.
WELCOME BABE
What a terrific interview. Hayley Atwell is such a great interviewee. Real answers. Thoughtful answers. Nothing feels rote or scripted.
Wonderful, charismatic and intelligent actress. Grace is a welcome entrant into the franchise, and her chemistry with Cruise was outstanding.
There aren't enough words for this woman! She is extraordinary! I love her deeply! Great interview!
Hello gorgeous
Thanks for the utmost love and moral support ♥️🥰
This is Hayley's movie. She completely steals every scene.
I shouldn’t be surprised 😮.
Was fine in MCU but I’m a big fan now after MI! Hayley was truly outstanding in it. Definitely could be a lead in this genre
I love Hayley. I recently finished her miniseries, Howards End. She and Matthew MacFadyen were incredible in that series
Absolutely loved her in MI Dead Reckoning ! Fallout is still the best. Henry Cavill was way better.
I’ve been a fan of her for ten years and it’s so amazing that she finally got another big role! I’m gonna see mission impossible just because of her
Great interview Josh! Hayley is a treasure.
What a damn fine actress There's not a roll that she can't do that, she can't master. I'm incredibly impressed with her passion for the arts. Can't wait to check this episode.
The most beautiful actress in the world ❤
I was introduced to Hayley in the TV miniseries "Pillars of the Earth" and became her fan. I am happy that she's getting great roles.
She was so awesome in MI: Dead Reckoning Part one & her chemistry with Ethan Hunt was electrifying, it was almost like
"where was she all these years"
After the MCU.
I feel that Dead Reckoning is Hayley's break out roll as she has been tied to marvel for so long. Nice to see her join the IMF. :)
Always been a fan of Haley Atwell, she’s always great and so wonderful
Loved her in Dead Reckoning last night!
She is extremely talented, and completely beautiful!
Hayley Atwell is without doubt going to be the next big star. After Dead Reckoning, I don't think she'll need to audition for a role ever again.
She’s great. If these 2 movies end up being a big send off for Ethan, I’d be happy to see Grace take up the lead
Great interview with the very talented Hayley Atwell. I have been watching her since the Agent Carter tv series. She is amazing!
Haley and Tom character on the movie is on fire🔥...
I hope she'll get more roles like Rebecca Ferguson did, dune, dr sleep etc
Agent Carter forever. Wish she’d come back to the MCU somehow
Her success feels so personal
She was fabulous is this. It took a bit for me to get her character but it’s a wonderful transition. The fear on her eyes and shaking hands whether she’s just playing or not.
She is just as smart, intelligent and funny as she is beautiful.
I love her so much

man love her so much lol
You've all seen her amazing work in that Jimi Hendrix movie, right?
YOU were good!
hahaha, she's so real, genue, humble, and fun
The way Hayley and the M.I crew handled and wrote Grace is kinda how I wish Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character was handled in Dial Of Destiny.

She and matthew macfadyen ❤
I love her shoes. 😊 She could be the next “Ethan Hunt” when Ethan retired as field operative.
MoM was a crime against the talent of every actor involved in that movie, no wonder they're on strike

Trust yourself Hayley Atwell part of making movie
Congratulations, Haley.
I plan to compare your Classical Film career w/ your Action films. Interested in my critiques?
She in movie lot l thought seem movie story all about her than anybody else lot more than Rebecca l was very surprised

I don’t blame Steve for going back in time for her.
I just realized she kind of looks like Mira Sorvino.

Is there anyone else in Hollywood that makes movies without a finished script? How do you get a studio to green light $175m+ without a script?
A star and/or a big director. Gladiator was mostly written on the fly whilst they were filming.
Marvel do this a lot
Peggy Carter is her best role in her life... or not ?
The lighting and the room is frighteningly drab. What happened?
Thank you! I thought the lighting really makes her face weird

It didnt break 600million even. 556mil total. Which is a total failure for a movie of this size and cost. So movie 2 is delayed and big reshoots happening
The real Mission Impossible was to be able to hold my pee for the entire duration of the film. No stunt of Tom Cruise will ever top that.
why did they take always old lady
Seems like just friends talking about movies
"You remind me of the babe"...
Sorry Hayley Atwell l really liked Pom play Paris

Fallout is still the best and Henry Cavill was way better than Hayley.
Hayley is great, but she needs to spend more time in the UK as you can tell she is picking up more of an American accent.
Yall got rid of the heir apparent to this franchise halfway through 😠
And after such great character work in 5 and 6!
