While she makes the performances look comparatively easy it's incredible to realize the amount of dedication and hard work Ms. Bish has expended over several decades creating a visual musical archive of organs and organ literature from around the globe. A tremendous educational resource for future generations which especially lends itself to social media platforms and digital distribution. This allows viewers to compare inter-generational performance styles, trends and technique.
Ms Bish is hands down the best performer , bringing the fire , and powerful grand splendor that these instruments were meant for. I have personally attended many of her concerts, and there is never a dull moment.
What a wonderful musician! I have never understood how organists can keep so much going on at once, so I decided not to worry about it. I sit back, and enjoy the music, skill, and artistry of the musicians. Bravo Ms. Bish!!!
I can admire the technicality, the virtuosity, the fact that this is 10 fingers and two feet all working together flawlessly to produce a set of sounds that make people feel good. It's just that she seems to be having a ball while doing it. :)
I am not a organist but my dad was a church organist, gave concerts in area churches. He was also a piano tuner and tuned pipe organs along with 3 of his sons. This song is very hard to play as it requires multi tasking constantly.Very well done Diane Bish!
Miss Bish is my favorite keyboard interpreter of J.S. Bach since Biggs/Fox/Richter. She is in my top ten keyboardists including Benny Andersson of ABBA, the late Keith Emerson of ELP, and VERY FEW OTHERS. I played this piece at Stanford's Memorial Church and before matriculating. Fond of Clarke. Would like to go on her Europe trips but just can't get away from work here.
joan has enjoyed Dian Bish. Good 30 years or more, since moving around, lost. Context thru station to station , N.h. -Vermont back to N.h. Many friends new of her, .Cdian is a great organist. enjoyed her enchanted playing, could listen to her for hours, thank you..
when you have the skill and coordination to take this majestic instrument and make it sing worthy of a presence before god himself, you can wear however many sequines you want.
I cant comprehend what kind of differently constructed mind it takes to play like this. Her hands are playing 2 different keyboards while her freakin feet are bouncing like shes trying to kill 1000 cockroaches. Like how the actual f?
Deariest Wyatt.......Put on your ol' thinking cap. To cover the price of a pipe organ you must have an institution BIG enough and with enough resources to fund the organ along with its upkeep. You will not find this outside of a church. Another consideration is that the organ orginated WITH the church since it was the perfect setting for organ music. If you detest the church setting, you'll just have to settle for harmonica music......!
Wyatt, first of all, I do not think that your post implies that ". . . .you detest the church setting. . . ." Nor ". . . .you'll have to settle for harmonia music. . . .!" No, not at all. There can be and ARE non-church-connected-pipe-organs. The following descriptions are lifted after going to, “List of pipe organs,” from Wikipedia: The largest pipe organ ever built, based on number of pipes, is the Boardwalk Hall Auditorium Organ in Atlantic City, New Jersey, built by the Midmer-Losh Organ Company between 1929 and 1932. The organ contains seven manuals, 449 ranks, 337 registers, and 33,114 pipes. It weighs approximately 150 tons. The Wanamaker Grand Court Organ at Wanamaker’s department store (now operated by Macy's) in Philadelphia is the largest functional organ, the second largest organ based on number of pipes, and the largest based on number of ranks and physical mass weight. It is the largest operational musical instrument in the world, with six manuals, 463 ranks, 399 registers, and 28,677 pipes; it weighs 287 tons. The largest concert hall organ in the Western hemisphere and world's 6th (2nd and 7th respectively, if you include the Midmer-Losh in Boardwalk Hall) is the 250 rank, 5 manual, and 15,633 pipes instrument located in the Auditorio Nacional (National Auditorium) in México City, México. The largest concert hall organ in the U.S. (if you don't include the Midmer-Losh in Boardwalk Hall, for not being fully operational) is the Newberry Memorial Organ, a 197-rank E. M. Skinner at Woolesey Hall, Yale University, New Haven, CT. With the exception of México's Auditorio Nacional and the Sydney Opera House organ, it is the largest concert hall organ in the world. At a different web site, (mypipeorganhobby.blogspot.com/.../organ-west-point-military-academy-cadet.html) one reads the following: "The current West Point Military Academy’s stop list with a total of 874 speaking stops controlling 23,236 pipes”. . . .(has what) “. . . .is arguably the world's largest "horseshoe" console.”
Yes. I agree that Diane's clothes are GORGEOUS! ! ! ! I don't agree, however, that her beautiful clothes are more spectacular than her organ virtuosity. I find it interesting that criticism is so second nature for us humans. Does anyone want to take a guess as to why this might be?
COXHERE, Criticism stems from many sources - jealousy, inferiority complex, projection, meticulousness, and a myriad other reasons. It is unfortunately also a symptom of a basic disability to converse, argue, debate etc. in an assertive, yet kind way which would be inducive to so much better understanding and harmony on this old planet of ours. Criticism of everything is just another by-product of the troublesome times mankind is facing. The way in which criticism is dished out, is yet another topic we will rather not discuss. Nice day to you.
Another typical example I suppose of the organs produced in the 70s, at the height of the so-called 'Organ Reform Movement'. Everything a little edgy, individual ensembles fighting against each other to achieve prominence, individual elements no doubt of the highest quality, the vision attempted no doubt sincere, but the end result lacking in the beauty and finesse of previous masters. Just listen to the jeux de fonds alone of a cavaille-Coll organ, and you'll see what I mean.
I’ve never heard it performed so majestically! Bravo!
Coral Ridge Ministries is where I first saw this great musician. She was perfect for the pipe organ ministry.
Thank you so much may God continue to bless you and your family and have a Happy New Year 2023
Es este el rey de los instrumentos y Ella la reina de sus intérpretes!

Diane, your music makes my heart rejoice!

I am always stunned and humbled by the talent and dedication of organists as gifted as Ms. Bush.
Composers ask a lot of organists, and the way Ms. Bish accomplishes this so flawlessly is truly amazing and awe-inspiring.

Gratulálok!

I wanna play on that organ!!
I do too!!!
Me too!
exelente
Ethel Smith was the fastest on the pedals of any Organist I have ever heard.
Vive le Roi !!!
Is there a volume knob on that sweater?
Is she from the planet Kryptonite?
What is the name of the 1st song played?
Brooks Dowling It is either the Prince of Denmark's march by Clarke, or it's re-appropriated to Handel as the Hornpipe from Water Music.
It's the Trumpet Voulntary
No, the Hornpipe is very different. PoD's March is also known as "Trumpet Voluntary" and sometimes wrongly attributed to Henry Purcell.
Your good I cannot play with shoes on I cannot feel the right notes and hit sour notes
those full organ for me NO GOOD and to for J. Clarke i think
But very good for Balbastre on Rufatti organ
That chamade in the first piece is voiced like a mini-tuba.
Which Organ is that?
why can't there be non church connected grand organs?

In terms of loudness I think her clothes beat the organ hands down.
