Very nice CNC Gary and it does a great job. I did guess on the T what it would be. Great review my friend and it's nice to hear the company was open to your thoughts about it. Take care my friend. Hwyl, Huw
Thank you Huw. So when I emailed them about the issues they were very apologetic and said to mention it in the video if I wanted. I feel that doing these videos and advantage for them to work the bugs out of a new product as much as getting sales. It is like doing some Beta testing to work the kinks out. I mentioned doing that for the Mach 2 and 3. I found many bugs and also had a number of suggestions which they added to the software. Hwyl, Gary
Pretty impressive detail retention. I could see using a CNC or laser burner. Maybe when the next thing comes along a few good used ones will show up for sale.
Thank you Jay. I think you are right. As fast as they make changes to these and how people like to upgrade I think you could find about what you wanted at a good price. Thanks for watching, Gary
Looks like it has a lot of uses. I wonder, is there some way that you could have a hole in the table to place a bowl under to engrave your logo or name or whatever you wanted on the bottom of your bowl?
Thank you Sam. Yes you could have a hole in the table . I think making some rails you could fasten to the work bench where the machine would be sitting on. Just running along the sides should do it. Thanks for watching, Gary
Guessed it on the 'T' ... but seemed obvious what it was going to be 😁...... nice little aside from the usual turning videos ... seeing perfection time after time can get boring 😂 I'll hopefully be building my own CNC milling machine this year, albeit a bit bigger ..... the plan is to be able to do a 4ft wide sheet, with pass through so that I can do a full 8' by 4' sheet in a few passes. I bought a spindle a few years back and focused on the collet size (ER20) ... needless to say when a 5kg spindle arrived I realised I should maybe have checked the weight as well ... I'll just need to make a slightly sturdier machine 😁
Thanks so much Barry. This Friday will be kind of different as well and I explain why. So I was going to build a much bigger and heavier CNC router but again a space for it was not going to happen. I know that my big milling machines are taking up a lot of space. The Bridgeport gets a decent size in X but only 12 inches in the Y. That machine has produced a lot of metal parts for my son's race car as well as other replacement parts for cars and even a new Reeves drive for a Delta lathe that you could not get the parts for. Very handy and i mostly use it for making wood carvings for gifts. Have fun building your CNC and would love to hear how it goes. Gary
Very useful review. Thank you! I am close to purchasing this in the PRo version as my first CNC machine so I have to ask if - one year later - you are still happy with it (for what it is, of course) and do you think it would be a suitable entry point for me into CNC carving? Many thanks in advance for any thoughts you might have and greetings from Warsaw, Poland!
HI Steven. To be honest with you I have not used it all that much since I did the review.. I am kind of spoiled as I have a full sized Bridgeport CNC milling machine that weighs 3500 pounds. For entry level it would be a great learning tool for sure. I did not buy any special software to run it. I just used what you can get for free. I would suggest better software to run the machine. But again I am spoiled with what I have for my full sized machine. Hope that helps, Gary
How useful would this equipment be without all the software you already had on hand? I'm thinking hard about some buying some sort of data-driven tool. I can't really decide to go with a CNC router, laser or 3D printer. Three very different technologies, but all heavily reliant on software.
I have had the software for years. There are some free that can be used. I have designed parts in tinker cad as well. It all depends on what you want to make. I have made some very useful things with 3D printers as well.
I should do a trial run on the TTC450 CNC machine, the text that should be engraved. However, I have a problem when I let the machine do the process. It does not actually touch the bottom of the tree on which it is supposed to work, although I went to the Z test several times to adjust the height, however, the machine does not work correctly for me, it works non-stop in the air and non-stop returns up instead of down. How can I regulate so that this does not happen to me, so that it starts working normally. I don't know if it's not a problem in the Candle settings. I use machine dimensions 460x460.
It is really hard to tell without seeing more information. It does sound like you do not have the Z set correctly. If you would like to email me and send the file you are working with I think I could figure out what is wrong. You can find my email in my About Page. Just add TTC450 in the Subject line Gary
So the touch screen is going blank. I have not seen that but I use my laptop a lot. How long does it go before it does go blank? Perhaps there is a setting for that. i will check and see and also do some research on it. Have you gotten ahold of Two Trees on this isuue?
How are able to do all of that with that machine. I have had my TTC450 for about two months and its a struggle to get it to do anything. The Two Trees support is useless. I am certain I have a controller problem. I already installed the latest firmware and still have problems with this unit. I am thinking of putting in some other control unit just so I can get some use out of it. Mechanically its a good unit for the price but the controls are useless.
My main issue set the Z height with the Z probe. I'll put the the probe on a piece of 3/4" wood and try to set the height. If I press the touch screen button to raise it the spindle never goes high enough to slide the probe under. The touch screen beeps with every press but it won't go up. If I try to raise it with UGS or Candle sometimes it will goes up, most time it won't. I then have to turn the Z motor by hand to raise the spindle to get clearance. Then when I press the knife button to check the height with the probe I'll get a "soft limit" error. and I'll have to hit the knife button 1 or 2 more times before I can get the Z height set. When I get a soft limit error UGS and Candle won't function and they can't clear the error. I tried disabling the soft limits in the configuration, but when I do that and start a job the spindle won't move to the starting position but instead will lower and bury the bit into the work piece until it bottoms out. I have other problems as I am unable to complete an engraving unless it is run off a memory card on the touch screen. If I use UGS or Candle it will freeze during the job. I'll have figure that one out later. Any way you can help I would appreciate. I'm thinking or removing the controller and buying an Open Builds BlackBox Motion Control to replace it with, but that an additional expenditure i would rather not make.@@ThePapa1947
