I've had this player for about 5 years now and I love it. It plays DVDs, Blu Rays, 4K Blu Rays, and even .mkv files from a flash drive! The Oppo 203, Magnetar UDP800, and Panasonic UB9000 are just way too expensive. The only flaw with this player is it doesn't play Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, or any other HD audio from a .mkv file. Just standard audio from .mkv files. I'm quite sure the Magnetar and the Oppo does but not worth the upgrade at the price they cost.
The upscaling on this Player is the best I’ve ever seen! I just picked up another Panny UB-9000 for my bedroom to replace an Oppo-103D! I’m very happy! Great 4K UHD players the Panasonic UB-9000 and the UB820. I own a UB-9000. It's *flawless* You would say the UB-9000 is 'Air Force One' and the UB820 is one of the 'F-16' escort jets. Excellent units .........
This might be little older now but it's what we got and we like it. I like this over the 9000 because I applied a Metal" wrap peel and stick covered the whole unit minus the very front display. Looks custom and when you see and touch it looks Faux Brushed Aluminum. When bored you can apply any other wrap to apply to your decor. you can really do that with the 9000 edges and bottoms and overall shape. This is like a very neutral shape and easy to wrap. Wish they made this with less plastic but it's good to apply a sticker. Wood grain probably going to apply some peel and stick bamboo make it look sexy. Thanks for the video. Hi, I have the 820, there more than likely will be a firmware update available. I have no problems with my 820 4K Panasonic player. I’ve had mine for about 2 years now from memory. They are good players. Cheers.
I’ve had my 820 for about a year and it’s been flawless. I like that it decides Dolby vision automatically as opposed to the Sony. Also Sony doesn’t carrry HDR10+ as it’s a Samsung based technology.
If your TV does Dolby Vision, I would set it on. It auto detects if your TV does it or not. Unlike the Sony X 800.M2 where you have to manually switch each time.
@@willmahoney2452 So if my TV does Dolby Vision (I'm not actually sure if it does or not) will the player still switch to Dolby Vision even if Dolby Vision it is set to OFF by factory default? HDR10+ is always set to ON by default, this is why I'm confused.
Funny 😂 I just bought mine on Amazon a couple of days ago to replace my UB420. The 420 has been acting up and not playing some Blu-ray, but it definitely plays all 4k without any issues. I'm expecting this 820 to be a good step up 👍
@Gioxtream You mean on the 420? Because in that case when I did the most recent firmware that's when the 420 started the issues. I had the 420 for over 3 years and not sure how old it was since there is not built date on it, so it served it purpose. I'm hoping to get more miles out of the 820 because of my mountain of physical media. 🤞
