Love this video because I just had the same realization or questioning. After watching Henry Garza (lonely Boys) totally amaze the audience with the song Cottonfields and Crossroads I went to watch some blues players and came across TBone Walker and realized that everything Henry Garza was doing well TBone had already done it. Not to take anything away from Garza it was just the realization that these blues men were the true rock Gods. Our rock Gods ,Page, SRV, and H Garza just took their genius and expanded on it and made it their own. OMG , what an absolutely awesome American story!!
T-Bone was a major influence on Chuck Berry. Give a listen to "Strollin' With Bones" (recorded in 1950) and hear a lot of the riffs Chuck Berry later made famous. I think T-Bone was also the first guy to play behind his head and the first to play with his teeth.
I was practicing a Tbone walker song .. trying to learn the blues being an intermediate player , self learning, blindly .. , at home ..and then this happens 😱😱 .. THANK YOU❤❤
@@TS-gg9fx I love Tbone ... im learning his songs to wrap my head around the blues ... his sound gets me .. you should too , or not 🤷♂️ .. though you might be a far better player than me 😊
Have heard shakey graves .. hes awesome ..but never learnt any song his songs tho ... and i dont about the second band .. il check it out ... best of luck .. practice hard😊😊🤟from India
You just looked it up (7min30)... but I was just about to comment; 1966 "Jazz at the Philharmonic" here in old England. It's part of a longer video, where perhaps more impressively, T-Bone transitions into this uptempo number after a proper slow jazzy blues number (containing more of his trademark licks) where one of the horn section plays an amazing "trumpet" solo in his bare hands. Well worth a look Mr Palmisano. And man I love T-Bone. The live videos of him on youtube are generally 15-20 years after he cut his records... and it seems he only got better! Theres a great show of him and B.B. playing together (poor quality video, but the playing is 🔥)
T-Bone is the man! Thanks for another great post. What is also great about this clip are all the jazz super stars in the band. Dizzy, Coleman ,Zoot, to name a few.
Listen to some of the early 50’s horn players like in the Dave Bartholomew Band who knew how to play a solo. The early electric guitar guys were stealing from those horn solos. Then it’s easy to hear how it morphed into Chuck Berry and the early rock guitar because they could play double stop licks that the horn guys just couldn’t, plus they could turn up over the band. Also remember early 50’s guitar guys used giant big band era heavy gauge strings and couldn’t bend notes. Until Ernie Ball came along 10 years later fat strings were all you could buy. The days of using 5 strings and a banjo string for the high E came to an end and all those unused fat low E strings in your case were tossed in the trash. See what you recognize from this. ruclips.net/video/j5fUuJJen7M/видео.html
Unfiltered is why we watch💕 I was playing along badly on my borrowed ukulele. But you get me playing (see what you and UIAS have done? 😒.). Signing up now for Blues Weekend (first weekend EVERY month??😃)💕🙋🎶
Ah T-Bone. If someone did something with an electric guitar, T-Bone probably did it first, including playing solos. OK, maybe second or third. He was there at the very start, stealing and teaching with the earliest electric guitar pioneers. He probably didn’t do the 300 foot cable, starting to play outside the venue (that was maybe Guitar Slim), but everything else.
Man I love these videos! Would love to see ya do a Kenny Vaughn video. He would also be an awesome guest having such great Nashville stories. Think y’all would hit it off! Anyways thanks for what you do!
The thing that always amazed me about tbone, aside from being an awesome musician is the fact that he has that stupid heavy hollow body on that thin little strap strung over the left shoulder, and doesn't lose circulation in that arm
@@jerryyeaaah15 my epiphone riviera is 9lb and that's pretty heavy after having it on after 20 minutes. My 8 string weighs 7 pounds. On top of that, that tiny little strap has got to make it worse
Yo, Michael. How are you from Baltimore and you haven't reviewed Pigeons Playing Ping Pong once yet? They are from Baltimore and shred. Check out their live performance of F.U. with the Royal Horns or any live version of Horizon or Melting Lights.
I've always been wondering about Keller Williams and his technique aging acoustic. Be really cool if you do a dive into "It's a plant" or his cover of "brown eyed women"
Quite apart from the performance, the observation about the uniform is telling. The look of blues and jazz (and rock - though you expected it in rock) turned in the 1960s and everyone forgot this was meant to be a music on the same platform as supposedly grand statements from Europe. There's the story of Big Bill Broonzy touring the UK dressed down like a farm-hand when back from he was in suits and ties and hats. It sometimes feels like: 'You may have made it big with your music but remember when you come from...'
~Well `der! `huck erry's intro to Johnny B Goode c.1958 is definitely T B Walker . his intro to Stormy Monday is classic as copied by the Allman bros on live at the Fillmore …
I knew this was filmed somewhere in England or Europe from the quick shots of the audience. T-Bone didn't get booked to play for white audiences in America. Performers like him had to go to England or Europe to play in front of a white audience that big.
Hey Michael, for some reason Gmail is telling me that your support email doesn't exist or can't receive emails. I've tried emailing twice now. Not sure what's going on
"You can't play like that looking like this", LOVE IT! Much respect.
I think he really meant: white people can't play it like that
This morning I was listening to "Don't Throw Your Love on me so Strong" from that same show. T-Bone had great sound.

"You can try to be cool, but you can't be T-bone cool." Love it! I'm stealing this.
Fun to see the 1966 version of Tinder is just looking to the rafters and waiting for the head nod back. Doesn't get much cooler than that.

I think that Charlie Patton may have played behind his head.
"We should all wear suits again". Hell yeah! LOL

One of the greats where it all started........
That's a beautiful looking Non-Fender guitar 😁
sounds great too

Nobody can be TBone cool. Damn right.
Nice video! T Bone's songs & guitar style influenced so many.... even just his switching between playing swing & straight time lines is epic
I first started to listening to T-Bone when I was in high school (70s)...could not believe that a dude could play guitar like that.

Damn, I want to write a song for that opening riff you were noodling on! That was pretty hot for non-musician ears.
When you got Diz behind you, you KNOW you're a bona fide FRONT MAN!
This shows how impressive Eric Clapton played on the beano album in the same year of 1966
It shows how completely useless Clapton is.
Come on! This is gold!
Such a big fan!
"I don't know what year this is" that's what I say almost every morning when I wake up.
Named my kid after T-bone, I also own the same PRS. Great video.
T Bone Walker Is from Oak Cliff Texas. He was Awesome. Stevie Ray Vaughan loved T Bone. Stevie named his Dawg after him. ❤❤❤❤
Hearing that guitar intro umm..... I'm IMMEDIATELY hooked

Love your stuff!!! Every guitarist no matter where you start out should watch these videos, so much information and music theory in these breakdowns
T-Bone Walker at Poplar Town Hall 1966 with Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, Zoot Sims, Louis Bellson et al.
I love this song, thank you :)
Love that opening riff
LOVE THIS💥‼️😘‼️💕💥

well that HOLLOW is pretty light 😂the es5 is like a 7lbs guitar😂

You should really check out the work of eddie cochran he rocks. Especially the solo of completly sweet
Love your guitar
I'm guessing by the way TBone holds his guitar, he learnt to play sitting down and never practiced standing up like me!
I can’t play standing up either lol. I started at 14 and just never got out of the habit. I don’t want to perform so it doesn’t matter to me.
@@kcussrebutuemos4815 Same here. Although I'd love to perform, but I don't think the world is ready for it

Maybe you could do a pre 80s live stream night,
Call it back to the roots or something
I've always been wondering about Keller Williams and his technique aging acoustic. Be really cool if you do a dive into "It's a plant" or his cover of "brown eyed women"
Check out Chuck Berry and T-Bone on stage playing blues. I wish Chuck played more blues because he was damn good.
Great enthusiasm. and gotta love the RoFo coffee.
Loved this. i think we’re do for another Colter Wall video please.
You should do some Willie Dixon era blues, like Muddy or Lil Walter or Bo, or anyone
This is as cool as it gets…
Michael, is that Dizzy Gillespie in the background?

Blues weekend? Yes please!
I would like to submit a request for it please.
B. B. King - The Thrill Is Gone (Live at Montreux 1993 version).
The audience are statues during this.
Hey Michael you should really look into Paul Cauthen he’s got an awesome funky country sound and you’ll get addicted to his voice
I hope you will check out B.B. King - Blues Boys Tune ( Live at Montreux 93) one day :) Keep good work.

Can do cow poke by colter wall or can you do on the run by warren ziders
We should all try to be more like Calvin
T-Bone Walker. If we were ever to institute “required reading” for most guitarists, he’d be on the list. Full stop.
That plunger coming soon? ☺
Check out the guitar strap position….
What is your gear setup for your react videos?
Memphis soul stew by king Curtis? Any way to review and see what you think??
I’m no expert and I know it can turn into arguments but if you had to narrow down the greatest guitar player ever...T-Bone has to be pretty close.
Have you ever heard “The Guitar” by Guy Clark
Please do Metallica - The Shortest Straw. That song is so unique melodically!
Hey Michael, for some reason Gmail is telling me that your support email doesn't exist or can't receive emails. I've tried emailing twice now. Not sure what's going on
Yes, i guess it is....
Please please please do a react to jason isbells "dress blues" and then zach bryans cover of "dress blues" so damn great.
Free by Zac Brown Band live...or any Zac Brown Band live
Probably already said, but...first to use guitar as a front instrument
Or some R.L. Burnside
Did the surf drip evolve from this?
Sure sounds like it.
Next door neighbor blues by Gary Clark jr. Please!!!!
Get ya suit and some shades and a cool hat and get after it
BOOM. Im ready.
As tasty as a... a... a piece of steak.
Mid 60s
Yep...told you mid 60s even before you pulled it up.
check your email darling said Fritz
Dude, you can't play like T Bone Walker, you don't have the soul.
