Ok, I just dove in, bought it and said I'll just figure it out. I had to come back and say VERY NICE WORK MAN! I'm about 1 hour in and im a little lost on the presets but everything else is coming together and I think this is the first synth in a long time I've just been able to fall deep into and as I figure things out, it gets even better and the satisfaction is really there. Just started messing with the FM synth and the probability transponder. You can really go nuts in here with little effort but lots of random control. I've spent a long time in Softube Modular, VCV rack, M4L ableton plugins and Bitwigs polygrid to get what I can get out of 2020 Beat Machine. The randomized fun I used to get our of my eurorack before I sold it. Cant wait to figure everything else out.
Without a demo and it being over $100 bucks, please put out more manual/tutorial videos. Gotta understand, outsiders are looking at this like WTF, i see a lot of potential but if i download it and can't figure out how to, for example, make a tone sequence running through FX, it would be a shame. Glanced at the manual and I already have questions. Will get into the manual further but would be an instant buy with a few videos going through all the things. OR, someone else buys it, makes some step by step videos then, instant buy:)
Worth every penny. Extremely intuitive to use. Complex, but not complicated. A stellar tool for creative self-expression! I’m looking forward to exploring the depths of 2020! ❤
@@shawnc4957 This monster engine can be controlled using MIDI CC, OSC, and your keyboard. Great, it also features Ableton Link allowing you to sync it to Ableton Live and other music apps

Will be using Rogue Amoeba's Loopback to pipe audio from 2020 into Ableton. And, since it's Sync'd with Ableton Link, I believe this will sync up pretty well if I want to also sequence plugins with ableton along with it. But honestly, I think the way my brain tells me to use this is to just sequence a shedload of things, take all 6 tracks of recorded audio, drop them into Ableton, and then chop them up there. I've been looking forward to this! Thanks for all your continued hard work on it, that is amazing you've stuck it out on the same product without releasing it haha. Good luck on the drop!
@@landonh3535 If you want to use Stem, the app has a record function, so you can use that. As Daniel said, press the record button and play the beat while it is linked to Ableton Live. Then drag the exported audio file into Ableton Live.
@@dubrussell Thats super cool and works for me. So I could also just solo each track and hit record if I wanted to get more detailed on the mix with the Kick, hats, lead separate for example? If so, that makes it really easy to capture a bunch of variation and then edit in Ableton.
Just bought this and its very amazing. Would love some more deep dive tutorials if you have some time. I occasionally run into some hiccups in the DSP department but its running solid on a Intel Mac Pro. Congrats.
As a RS7000 user.. and a person that has had a Juno 6, Casio CZ101, Korg ER1 Nord Lead 2, and an Alesis Fusion to name a few, I would switch to software for this! 😂
It's been rebuilt from scratch for stability and improvement. To be honest, I misjudged the difficulty of making the whole application, and it took me a long time because I had to rewrite the whole thing six times. I was very particular about it, so I think it turned out well! I don't know what techno actually is, but I can play many different beats :)
Is this all generative synthesis or is sampling involved? Are the patterns internally programmed, or midi driven? Can this function as a standalone performance instrument?
Maybe. But I see this app as an extension of the hardware beat machine. If I can keep this feeling locked inside a window that appears on top of the DAW, the plug-in would be useful.
Thanks for the reply! Please consider it as it would bring it to a wider audience. Otherwise I'll have to buy another Mac just to run it on! One more question, can we trial the software before buying? That would help decide if I want to buy it. Thanks for all the hard work you've put in, it looks and sounds absolutely stunning!
I do not intend to go to a subscription model at this time. There are many modules in 2020, so there is a lot for new users to learn. I want them to be able to experiment with sound making without worrying about the expiration date. In the future, if I do a huge feature addition or a very substantial update, I may consider in-app purchase or releasing it as a separate app. But for now, I have no plans to do so.
- App Type: Standalone application - Supported OS: macOS 10.13 or later (Universal Binary) - Memory usage: 1GB or more - Screen size: any - Sound Card: Multi-channel support. Probably anything will work. - Synchronization with other equipment: Ableton Link. Live performance reliability: I use a MacBook Pro 13-inch, M1, 2020. I have created very complex projects, live performances and real-time compositions, and so far it has been very stable and has never hung up. the DSP usage points to about 20% to 30%, and the app as a whole uses about 40% CPU. ruclips.net/video/hMdcqgQy8C4/видео.html Testers report that it also runs on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015).
You can trigger the instrument with a MIDI keyboard or MIDI pad. Velocity is also supported. However, you cannot do things like play a single instrument with a MIDI keyboard scale, because triggers are assigned MIDI note or CC numbers, not MIDI channels. So it is like assigning C4(60) to instrument 1 and D4(62) to instrument 2.
Sorry, but I will wait until someone else do demo video, in this one is too much chaos. I know this machine is very complex and can do a lot, but I don't want to hear everything at once. Still, it looks promising, but this demo didn't convince me to preorder this machine.
