- This 10 to 12 person dining table will feature bat-wing style legs with a tambour-look.
It's gonna be solid walnut from head to toe and will be quite a bit of work.
Because of that, I've broken this down into parts and I hope you enjoy its journey with me :-).

there is no bad or wrong technique, there is efficiency but that comes with time maybe when you been doing it for decades but do whatever works for you. Great job thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for understanding and appreciating that :-) I'll become more efficient with time for sure 💪💪
Really enjoyed this, especially the weakness revelations. I have joked for years that I should start a channel called "the inept woodworker" because I am mostly weakness with a few successes. I also appreciated the camera angles in this video... It was fun to see you on top, under, and all over while you worked on this project. The angles help us see your process and give a more authentic experience of watching you create.
Ahhh, I'm glad you think so and my partner says thank you for that :-)
Love watching the journey of this Bat Wing table. Thanks!
Ahhhh! Thank you so much, Karsten!!! I appreciate it! :-)

Gotcha! Good idea! :-)
Bravo! LOVE this style of video. Not only do we get to see your interesting projects and techniques but you also throw knowledge and facts at us! Keep it up Clara!!!
Thank you so much, Taylor!! Glad you enjoyed it!!! Will definitely keep trying to improve our process for these kinds of videos :-)!!
Another great vid - your skills with all sorts of tools will only increase over time. oh and ..... Those off cuts would be a good start to an end grain cutting board 👹
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 oh man 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤣🤣🤣
Well done.
Thank you so much! 😁😁
❤❤ awesomeness
Thanks, Erik!
Amazing
Thank you! 😁🙌
I use hand tools more because they are sort of emergency override. I run out of time or motivation to move classic car out of garage and use power tools. If I have a part I need to finish before I can continue I am able to bring it inside to my hand tool basement and get it done and move on with project. It does make me think about how much extra effort a power tool can be compared to just cutting quickly with a good hand saw.
Minnesota winters also mean I’m using hand tools more because my garage doesn’t stay warm enough most winter nights. Advantage of not having a spouse is taking over the whole house with wood storage everywhere and a shop area in my living room.
I agree - if you get better with handtools, certain things can be done faster than setting up the piece in order to use a power tool such as using a jig for a router. With a handtool, you can just mark mark and start chiseling away :-).
thank you for the video .be safe and have fun. have a good trip to Korea. hope you can visit chuncheon
I will try to visit there! :-)
Love this! Have you considered a Work Sharp WS3000? It's not the cheapest sharpening solution, but make sharpening SO easy.
I haven't thought of it! I'll look into it and see :-). Appreciate the suggestion!!
another way to cut those out on the legs would have been to laying the batwings down and may a jig out of plywood and jigsaw the majority out and then route the rest out of course would of had to square the bottom corners out if that make sense at all, just a thought
Appreciate the thought - I would’ve made a jig but I felt the angle was a little too steep for it. In all other cases, I agree, it would’ve been the perfect setup.
Thanks Clara, I typically like using Danish Oil for my finish. Will the wood still warp and crack after this finish is applied? Also, I just purchased oldies, some wax and walrus oil. I fear my finished work will warp and crack maybe in a few years from now. I mainly focus on furniture making. Lastly, I want to recommend Rhoose Point Danish Oil. If you’re interested please check it out one day and tell me what you think. Keep up the good work. 👍👍👍
If the piece cracks or warps, something was either wrong with the joinery or the wood movement. It wouldn't be due to the finish. I'll look into Rhoose Point Danish Oil :-) Thanks for the suggestion

You should definitely wear the overalls more Clara! You look so beautiful and tomboyish in them! ☺️
Thanks! Overalls are definitely my go-to work outfit 🤣🤣
Great work and good on you both for showing your challenges and for your discipline in pushing through them.
Thank you so much, Brad!! Yeah, definitely wanna be honest with things so even if it sucks to show the world that side, it’s a part of who I am :-) Appreciate the support so much!
