I know istj people very well and respect them although very different from me. Let me tell you what I have noticed about you guys: (it's very long!!)
    - you naturally embody the stoic philosophy. You don't dwell in the past (although you have an acute memory!). You keep going. You aren't anxious. You are virtuous.
    - you are incredible observers of your surroundings. You notice every little detail around you. You are extremely in touch with your senses and you are really in the in and now. The opposite or air-headed.
-you can't stand still. You are very dutiful and rest only when your tasks are completed. Doing chores isn't a chore for you. You have a high sense of responsibility.
    - you enjoy completing said tasks. That gives you a sense of accomplishment and you love feeling needed, useful.
    - you tend to think you are always right and you tend to act as the man of the house, even if you are the younger brother of the tribe. That gives you this rigid vibe.
    - you need a lot of time for yourself and have many interests and hobbies, involving the real world. If you sit to read a book, you'll do it with a mindset of finding the missing information you need to improve your performance
-you don't like to lose or not succeed at what you are trying to do, even for the first time. But you tend to be excellent at whatever you do anyway. You are very coordinated too.
    - you tend to be health conscious. You instinctly know what your physical needs are, so you stick to a tight sleep schedule and meal time is sacred because that fuels your body with energy.
-you are extremely reliable and trustworthy. Not into drama, you wouldn't gossip nor repeat a secret. When you give your word, you do whatever you promised to do.
-you have a very calm demeanor and there is something about you that imposes respect. You also know how to be respected. People don't mess with you.
-you are not imaginative. When asked to imagine this or that scenario, you tend to think of the worst case scenario directly. That's the only time you display cues of stress.
    - you have a very dry humour and you tend to have a resting b.tch face/poker face, which is hard to read. You are sarcastic.
    - you don't show your emotions neither on your face, nor in your words. And people around you tend to complain about it.
    - you don't like conversations that lead nowhere. You want facts. When somebody takes too long to tell a story, you get bored.
    - you are very family oriented and take care of people's practical needs. Paper work, chores, massages if the person is on pain....
    - you are quite tidy and clean, but surprisingly forgiving of people who aren't. If it is a mess around you, you clean up without complaining much.
-even if you are judgemental of other people's lives because you don't understand them or how they choose to live, you keep you opinions for yourself.
    - you don't have many friends and you rarely see the few you have. You keep your inner circle very limited.
-you are not romantic at all in the Holywood sense, but you are very faithful in your heart. You are not the type who breaks up and ask for a divorce. When things don't go well in your relationship, you don't make a fuss about it, but you don't quite try to find solutions either. So people are more likely to leave you and you never really know why.
    - you are tolerant of people's flaws. You accept people for what they are, even when some things are bothersome to you.
-you have a hard time understanding people, reading their emotions or putting yourself in their shoes.
    - you dislike conflict and avoid it at all means. You are quite an avoidant person in general. You retreat to your solo activities instead if talking things through.
    - you are always ready to go. You are extremely well prepared. Not a last minute person at all.
    - you are conservative with money. You wouldn't shower people with gifts and not even yourself. You never leave a bill unpaid. You are unlikely to take a credit. If you can't afford it, you don't buy it.
-you don't need a lot of comfort nor decoration to feel good at home. You are quite a minimalist.
I am an enfp. My istj boyfriend and I have had issues from day 1. Two years later things haven't changed or improved. But cognitive speaking, we aren't opposed. We actually use the very same functions but in a different order.
That's some of the things I have noticed in my bf, my stepfather, my grandmother and random people I have met.
Tell me if you have recognised yourself in this description:)

I find it really strange how people claim ISTJ is the most common type, yet in real life you rarely meet people who posses traits of ISTJs. Like, majority of people isn't so work focused and punctual, it's pretty rare to come across someone so hardworking and dutiful. Not to mention that people generally don't pay attention to details about things, which is Si's most profound feature. Objectively, it would make more sense for Se users to be more common.

    • @RobertMorgan

Like "How do you not have your paperwork already done before we got here? You haven't already paid your taxes? How do you pay bills every month, just pay them ahead like I do. What do you mean you aren't thinking about that event six months from now, I'm already packed".

I am an INTJ and even if ISTJ’s hardly discussed in the community i believe they are just as amazing as the other sensors. i have similarities with the ISTJ traits with how much i rather be alone and goes on with the most logical approached, the biggest main difference is the Si dominant and the Ni dominant approaches in life. And when they say they have good memories they really do, i’m impress because i can’t remember the very livid details of the past even if it were good times.
    You guys are amazing -INTJ

    • @RobertMorgan
      @RobertMorgan Год назад

My memory isn't spectacular, but my ability to know I remember is pretty fucking spectacular. By that, I might not know exactly what it is I need to know immediately, but I always almost instantly know if it is something I do know, if that makes sense.
Example: something happens at my job, I'm the guy saying "Yeah I remember how that went down last time 5 years ago, yeah, give me a second, I know I have it here, gotcha! Here's the photos and notes I took with my phone 5 years ago, with all the data and specs and part #s we need."
I might not remember what I need, but I remember HOW to remember and I never throw any information away, because someday it'll be useful, somehow.

    • @RobertMorgan
      @RobertMorgan Год назад

Also, it's not photographic, but almost. Recent example, in needed a bunch of long, complicated part numbers for some maintenance parts. I know I made copies of the labels to get all the info on one page, I could not find that page, but I remembered precisely what it looked like, down to the sizes of the labels and the length of the part numbers, lol, but not the actual data. I can look right at it with my mind and see a very close representation of it, but not quite it. Probably with practice, but I'm already 40, probably a bit late for super spy mind training.

I am an ISTJ, and all of these characteristics fit me. I find that now, with severe depression and anxiety (including agoraphobia) both rearing their ugly heads at once, I've had to break promises and let people down much more in the past year than in the rest of my life thus far. When I do make an appointment or state that I will get something done, I 100% believe that I will, only to later realize that I mentally can't. I've stopped working and setting appointments so as not to make commitments I can't keep, and for those times when I do let others down, I beat myself up repeatedly and am embarrassed and sincerely sorry.
I took a free version of the Myers-Briggs a few days ago, and, despite answering honestly based on my behavior now, I was happy to find that I still am an ISTJ type. I guess it's because my values haven't changed, but to know that I still have my core sense of self gives me hope that one day I will return to the person I was and long to be rather than be defined by my illness for the rest of my life.

Okay, this is so me it's kind of scary. I thought I was an INTJ for a long time, and got INTJ on all quizzes too, but after learning more about the different types and what makes them what they are, I think I'm an ISTJ.
The first point in this video is actually so true for me that it blocks me from getting anything done. I am such a perfectionist that I can't just jump into anything and I have to have everything perfect immediately but then also I'm lazy and have a short attention span so I don't ever want to start anything because I know it will take a long time. I procrastinate doing everything, even sleeping at this point because I have to end my RUclips binge on the perfect video or my book at the perfect stopping spot. I'm even considering seeing a therapist to help me with this, which is a big step for me because I feel like I need to be able to figure out problems on my own, which I think is the perfectionist thing again. I want to be 100% myself and do everything "the right way," AKA perfectly. As you can see, one of the only parts of being an ISTJ I don't relate to is struggling to talk about my feelings, or at least to type about them. I'll shut up now.

Not all introverts are created equal.
    Sincerely, an ISTJ virgo.
I say this mostly because ISTJs are introverted in ways that help discern whether something is a waste of time or not. Point blank. We prioritize what needs to be done or what we enjoy most, and that's not always socializing, because it's ultimately not that important. Our focus is on what matters.
There are other introverts who are ruled by their emotions. They are shy, or feel ill prepared. This is different than an ISTJ's introversion. The J in ISTJ is the judging portion, which personally is exercised constantly. I observe and make a mental note of whether I'll be able to tolerate someone long term- not based on how much I like them or not, but based on how compatible we are when it comes to finding solutions. If someone is ruled by their emotions, thsi tells me in the long run that they will blow up at something, and I probably will have to find a place on my priorities list for them to be in. Not because they don't matter, but ultimately, life sucks- it's a fact. So how much can I invest in people who rather hold onto their emotions than look for solutions? I just... that sounds exhausting. So yeah, not all introverts are created equal.

I would say yes. I test as an ISTJ, but I also crave attention at times and have big golden retriever energy, but a lot of that comes from being an adoption survivor, a lifelong trauma that affects all of me, including my personality. In fact it's probably what drove my ISTJ traits, I value honesty and integrity very highly, because I started life being lied to by the people closest to me, for a good reason ostensibly, but still dishonesty.
I'd rather hate someone for what they honestly say to me than for saying nothing at all and making me suspect them.
It's an odd mix of introversion, and demand for attention. It may be why I work a thankless but vital public service job, the community needs me and I get to do it in the background.

I do relive my memories, but in a weird way, I act the memories, I make them a bit better, My mother thinks i'm crazy, which i'm kinda but not that crazy, Feels like a Pre-war and After-war thingy because of the pandemic, before and after.

I am an ISTJ. I put my best effort into assembling some new outdoor patio furniture for my mom. It was easy to do, but I wanted it done right the first time. Something minor went wrong, but it was easy to fix, and I had the patience to correct it. No, I am not the fastest at doing certain tasks, but hopefully more efficient. I hate doing things again because I messed up, but nobody's perfect. My levels of compassion need to be worked on, along with my patience levels. I used to be a projectionist at a movie theater, and bringing in a new projectionist to the staff always bothered me because of the potential for the new personI not being careful with the film and projection equipment. Someone new came in and they were only able to get their foot into the door because a manager who worked at my theater was best friend's with them. This person had many problems fitting in with this field of work. They meant well, but seemed to have little mechanical ability, or did not pay enough attention to details, like out of focus pictures, or making bad film splices. I came in on my day off to fix a problem that they had lots of trouble with. Looking back, I should have not been so angry with that person. That person probably was terrified of me, but I did not want it that way. I was frustrated because I worked hard at taking care of the film, projection equipment, and the overall film presentation. As the lead projectionist, I did not like it when the wrong kind of person was added to the projection staff. We had bright, clear, beautiful pictures, and nice sound systems. We were the flagship theater for our entire company at the time. I was a very good projectionist because I was well trained and willing to give it my best effort. The theater owners came looking for me just before the theater opened up brand new, and knew I was experienced. They had a need, and I had a skill. I enjoyed the job of motion picture film projection very much. They went digital, and I got laid off 7 years later. I worked at 4 different theatres, for a total of 11 years of being a projectionist. I remember riding an ATV at a friend's farm to take bales of hay from the barn out to the pasture. It was work, but I remember the fun of riding the ATV, and my friend let me ride it again later that day! When I first learned how to inflate a special shape of helium balloon called a mousehead, I remember how an eye for detail was important for best results. If you have been to Disneyland or Disneyworld, you have seen what we know as Mickey Mouse balloons. These are the latex balloons that have the big ears on the top, and are iconic and famous. It took quite a few times to blow up the mousehead balloon with both ears the same size with a nice "bridge" between them. (Hope I am making sense by the way.) I am one of very few people who knows how to inflate or "blow up" these mouse ears balloons, and I plan to make an instructional video for RUclips about them. One of my favorite memories is going to Disneyworld. The first thing I did when I first went into the park was go to the big castle. I could not believe I was seeing it with my own eyes. I went right up to it and put my hands on the brick wall. I also went for a sentimental ride on the carousel 🎠 and felt like a kid again. Also, I experienced a motion simulation ride involving seats that tilt, rock, jump, vibrate, and make other movements to suit the action on a giant screen. Of course, you need to be restrained with seat belts so you stay in place! That night, I saw fireworks bursting in the night sky over the castle to the "MICKEY MOUSE THEME SONG." I remember being happier than I had been in a long time because the entire experience at Disneyworld made me happy. Yes people with the ISTJ personality are sometimes misunderstood as mean, ruthless, inconsiderate, impatient, or have no people skills. People who have these misconceptions should see videos like this one to understand better why these such people are like this.

I'm ISTJ, took the test last year though 6-7 years ago I came out as INTJ (who knows, maybe my personality actually changed in the meantime), and considering all the people in my life, I can't see how ISTJ is the most common personality type.

But the rest is pretty spot-on!

Well, my granny says I’ve always been the Anti Social one. Usually I will sometimes talk to other but I’m very shy And I’d rather stay alone if someone comes if it’s my cousin I will come out of my shell I will text my friends a lot. But there are other times when I will be Non Verbal towards others.

💯 ISTJ was always shamed for being introverted growing up. Felt so misunderstood. At 56 I’m so comfortable being me. I definitely relate to all the points the video makes.😊

Most of these sound too general that it feels like other MBTI types will find they have these traits too at least to some degree. I'm definitely not ISTJ, but most of these traits in this video somewhat fits me as well.
