Yuki is stuck. Red Bull own his contract for 2025. Yuki, take it and move on for another year. As for 2026 and Yuki being a team leader? First things first, the only way both happen is at VCARB and then only if a) he continues to perform, b) he continues to mature a keeps his mouth in check, c) he gets a podium or two or d) has a couple of years as a top 10 driver. Otherwise he’s just filling a seat that any number of junior drivers can step up to in 2026 when Red Bull don’t have to worry about the Honda link. Want to know why Red Bull took up Yuki’s option for 2025 - Honda. The Aston Martin option in 2026 or beyond is real. If Lance can’t be a consistent top 10 driver over this year and next, who knows. With all the crazy moves Lawrence has been making who’s to say that he doesn’t sell up to Aramco (they want it but the politics involved in that move and you don’t give Andretti a place on the grid 🤦♂️). Lawrence is a billionaire and billionaire’s don’t get to be that by throwing money away. Lance could well follow Pappa Stroll and Yuki slides in at Honda’s insistence. You have to love the “if’s”, “what’s” and “ 19:22 maybe’s”. Now, if we could all just focus on the racing, which is looking soooo much better this year, then maybe, just maybe, we could get back to calling F1 a sport.

@@FloridaBoyDan Events today with Alpine & Renault that changes everything. Yuki to Alpine (or whatever they become known as). Andretti take over with Honda engines (If they can sort out the exclusivity agreement with Aston Martin. They may have their hands forced by the FIA). Fun times!
My theory for RB keeping Checo is that they'll eventually do a switcheroo (akin to Kyvat and Verstappen in 2016). They're just waiting until either Yuki or Daniel is ready to race at the top team.
Maybe they could use the sprint races to showcase the reserve/test drivers and allow them to have their own mini championship in real F1 cars. Not sure about logistics of this but 6-8 of these a year would at least give them some real action rather than just sitting in background. And better show their abilities in the F1 car and get teams more intrigued in them as full time drivers.
If Lance leaves AMR, will Lawrence still be interested in the F1 team? Maybe Lance goes to the WEC project. Just because a driver is not very good in F1, doesn't mean they're bad drivers, look at Ericsson and Hartley (Although I'll always say they gave Hartley a seat far too late)
Yes, it's tied to Aston Martin the car company. If Lance leaves as driver he'll likely be promoted within the team. Team Principal 2IC, Team Owner... he will stay I reckon. He clearly loves the sport.
@@Jorge.Painkiller I think he has trouble concentrating at times, and has an issue with spacial awareness. Having said that he's been better in the last few races.
If Perez and Tsunoda both have their contracts with the Red Bull racing group instead of the team ... Tsunoda may very well be in a position to relief Perez. And even if Max' comment was a joke or not - Tsunoda has qualities that may very well be advantageous to endurance racing. Weight being one of them. Besides, if everyone was around their ideal weight, we would be emitting less CO2 in many fronts :D We'd probably be faster too! Or even extend our action radius.
They’re keeping him because deep down inside if the Christian horn situation gets worse, I’m sure verstapen will pay the penalty to leave his contract during new car changes
DR is likely gone. Media has universally turned against him. Social has turned against him. Right now DR is bringing bad press. He hasn't, and I doubt he will do, as his attitude has made a enemy of just re-signed Yuki [See Drive to Survive episode when they nearly came to blows]. Riccardo was brought back for his vast engineering knowledge, which has helped VCRB improve a lot, also it doesn't hurt that Riccardo's main sponsor is VISA which brings in 30+ million a year, and he's a PR favorite.......Put it this way, Riccardo would have to really screw up to lose his seat to Lawson
With the timing of the announcement and the way they announced how they "activated" an option. I wouldn't be surprised if what happened to Pierre in 2022 may happen to Yuki in 2024. Though, you could say there's a little to almost impossible of a chance of that happening. (Pierre was basically announced by AlphaTauri in June of 2022 to be continuing his F1 stint in 2023 under the same team till the whole Alpine shenanigans happened and they bought out Pierre around Suzuka GP of the same year).
Can, the Red Bull plan be something as complicated as: "Yuki driving well... extend contract"? F1 principals don't need to be Moriartry and the fact we all like Yuki is not a good enough reason for the team to let him go and take on a worse or unproven driver.
17:30 Well, Alpha Tauri, Cash App RB now is "his" team, RB is Team Tsunoda F1.. i think it will hurt them for a season or two if they kick him out. not like the team will perform bad without him on the track, but outside the track i think CashApp RB will lose more than just a driver.
I got a massive case of dega vù watching this 🤷♂️ . 1. Fia has banned stroll before fyi 2. Alpine apparently are looking into using a different engine manufacturer , things could align for yuki I guess . 3. Admittedly I'm a Ricciardo simp , but I think if anyone should've had the boot out of the red bull , it would've been perez (my opinion, he should've gone to merc as the car is a little bit more suited to his style) 4. I have a feeling rbv is being aimed at being literally the number 2 team - in f1 behind red bull ... I think red bull are playing chess at the moment and are only half way through their move 🤐
Yuki i dub the as Gasly 2.0. Now go to another team for 2026 or waste another year in the middling f1 team that is toro rosso/ alfatauri/ VP Cash App RB.
When Honda cooperates with Astonmartin, they will definitely find a way to put Yuki there, they want a Japanese driver and obviously: v after supporting him for more than 8 years, they will not give up easily.
You gotta remember that Red Bull aren’t shy to pull someone from the top team and swap them with someone from their main team. They did that with albon, gasly, kvyat, verstappen, and dropped de vries mid season. Checo and Yuki getting an extension doesn’t mean Yuki is stuck Red Bull could always swap Checo from the main team at any point of he continues to perform poorly And simply throw Yuki into the RedBull alongside Max, and Checo be in RB with Ric
Yuki is the safety net of Red Bull in case Perez and or Ricciardo severely underperform. He didn't have much of a choice either, being a RB academy driver, Red Bull has leverage over him. F1 is also a money driven sport so Yuki to not have big presence outside of motorsports meant that he couldn't bring the level of sponsors that Perez and Ricciardo could bring.
I don’t understand what’s the point of Red Bull having an academy if there are maybe 1 to 2 drivers move to the main team. And dropping drivers from their academy after a few months is crazy to me. So many drivers are in that academy and only a few make it to Vcarb.
The Ferrari and Mercedes-AMG Driver Academies are okay. Ferrari (relatively) recently brought Leclerc into F1 and then into Ferrari itself, while Mercedes-AMG did the same with George Russell, and Oliver Bearman is definitely in F1 in 2025, and Antonelli is likely also going to be in F1 the same year
@@alexcarolan8825 DR has had 5-6 years to find his feet since leaving RB in 2018. After 6 years and a year in VCARB he still can't figure out how to drive the car. Lawson on the other hand had no issues. Let's give that guy a year in the car.
I would be okay if Formula 1 has a limit on the number of seasons a driver can compete. Doesn't need to be small. Something like 15 or 10. As much as I like to watch Alonzo drive, I also want to see the new drivers.
Lets hope AM’s new partners insist on Lance being ousted for a genuine competitive driver than the vanity project they currently have. Maybe father will have to bite the bullet considering how big these new partners are and they will have more of a say in who drives for them. They’re not going to make any dents in the constructors standings with Lance tbf.
the driver acadamy thing is all smoke and mirrors to appease those who say it's a closed sport which it is and will always be the teams are going to put drivers in their car that will either win championships races or bring in sponsorship it''s a business as much as a sport not all drivers are going to get their even if they are good if f1 was serious about young drivers they would allow the f2 champion to stay in f2 you don't see f1 giving the champion the boot after winning a championship to allow someone else the chance to win if they want new blood in the sport drop the drivers from the team that finishes last and make the team hire 2 new ones that would spice it up a bit
I wouldn't be surprised if more drivers quit these academies and given the new interest in the road to F1 from sponsors, it might yield more independent drivers thriving or refugees from academies surviving a little bit longer.
It's really simple. Tsunoda is 24. I see him in Redbull at the end of Checo's contract, whether Chico sees out his term or he goes early. RB kept Tsunoda because they see him in the RB seat.
@@kazoomt there is no seat at Aston Martin, unless Alonzo retires early. Also Tsunoda will be an in demand driver. performs well, gets on well with the team and team mates. Tsunoda will likely stay VCARB and replace Checo at RB. I expect that's why Red Bull are keeping him. Honda can bring a new Japanese driver through.
How can they not take a chance with him but rather have a Stroll level driver like Perez in the 2nd Red Bull? It's not like Tsunoda will be a big problem for Max so I really don't get this.
So... if Felipe Drugovich doesn't quite make it to F1, would that be considered a close shave? We need a slot for him in F1? I thought this was a racing series, not a racy series. It brings to new meaning to the phrase "Let's see that Brazilian cockpit." a-hem!
Yuki comes with Honda. Honda moves to Aston in 2026. Yuki gets renewed by RB until end of 2025 while Honda still powers RB and Visacashapp. What is so hard to comprehend about this?
rb have no younger talent in f1 right now, what will happen when max takes sudden sabbatical or go to other team? let checo lead the team. even lawson need one season full in vcarb to polish his talent and ricciardo... i don't know about his future
dik seems kinda fair , that they gave him 3 seasons to bed in and become a solid drive , now they can cash him in , short term or long term depends on them
Red Bull are keeping Yuki because of RedBull - and it seems they still need Honda tech because as history shows producing a engine is a difficult and very fickled thing. Red Bull need Honda up to the last moment- they would be very worried because they need Max and this Merc thing is like a loaded gun in Russian Roulette- maybe! Maybe not. It seems to be childish vengeance on the Jos v Christian episode of early 24. Add Toto childish antics into the mix - Yuki and Sergio benefits Daniel gets the short end of the stick adding his average form. Then you add vengeful Helmet. Game. Set. Match.
6:26 hey....that is a good idea....tsunoda to alpine...reuniting with gasly and bringing in a honda engine deal....that would be a huge improvement....an alpine-honda bwt team....
Horners actions/plans are not constructive for RB right now. Doesn’t seem like the mastermind that’s been sold to everyone. I hope Yuki gets a seat where he’s not a pawn to others games.
People are getting angry at RBR, but they’ve given 10x more drivers their shot than any other team. Also, people are upset over Liam? Really? The guy couldn’t even beat F2 rookie Logan Sargeant in his second year of F2 and his “big P9” in Singapore required 6 DNFs.
My admittedly miserable take on Yuki Tsunoda is RB really don't want him - he doesn't fit their plans for some reason and the only reason he hasn't been given to boot is because he's too popular to kick out when he's doing so well... ...the proof of the pudding is if he has a Perez-like slump at any point - Yuki will be given the old heave-ho so fast anyone watching will get whiplash! So why not let him go? Sadly the possibilities for embarrassment in letting a good driver go to another team.

You remember how RedBull was with Toro Rosso with Albon, Gasly, Kvyat and Max?
If Checo continues his slump and Yuki continues to excel, they could always swap the two like they did in the 2010’s
@@FloridaBoyDan Events today with Alpine & Renault that changes everything. Yuki to Alpine (or whatever they become known as). Andretti take over with Honda engines (If they can sort out the exclusivity agreement with Aston Martin. They may have their hands forced by the FIA). Fun times!
9:00 Could be wrong but didn't nico leave Aston before Felipe had joined start of 2023? Don't see him getting a seat tho 😢
I hope Alonso finally retires so he can the AM seat and he can mentor Yuki still since he is Yuki's idol afterall.
My theory for RB keeping Checo is that they'll eventually do a switcheroo (akin to Kyvat and Verstappen in 2016). They're just waiting until either Yuki or Daniel is ready to race at the top team.
I am such an F1 fanatic that it took me 0.5 seconds to know that it was Sainz in third at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
@@desshinnick9365 and you know what? I think he lacks motivation rather than being bad
@@Jorge.Painkiller I think he has trouble concentrating at times, and has an issue with spacial awareness. Having said that he's been better in the last few races.
he changed minds about yuki and alpine in one day
If Perez and Tsunoda both have their contracts with the Red Bull racing group instead of the team ...
Or even extend our action radius.
there will never be weight advantage in f1 as there is a minimum weight the driver and the car has to be you not real smart
Nico and Yuki driving for Audi :)
They’re keeping him because deep down inside if the Christian horn situation gets worse, I’m sure verstapen will pay the penalty to leave his contract during new car changes
Foam of Doubt needs a little hat.
DR is likely gone. Media has universally turned against him. Social has turned against him. Right now DR is bringing bad press.
It's unbelievable that someone with years of experience is given so much time to find his feet. He needs to outperform Tsunoda on an ongoing basis. It's embarrassing that Lawson jumped in the car and was performing quickly. Imagine what would happen if Lawson was given a year.
5:25 Law Glitching hard XD. Still great vid
Lawsons management probably annoyed Redbull if anything pushing Lawson for seat this year...
I think Liam's realised that Daniel needs to fall off HARD to get a chance for next year or he has to bend the knee for one more year.
@@LawVS Daniel was driving in Ranger Raptor at Canada while Yuki was in a Honda...
@@gerardcrabb4556One driver is aligned with the future engine manufacturer and one driver is aligned with the current engine manufacturer. Which driver is more likely to go Aston Martin? Which driver is more likely to back Christian Horner 100%?
Lawsons management is as abrasive as Lawson himself, his management tried to push Red Bull into announcing that he already had the seat for next year,.
How nice of Law to share all of his videos with his co-star, Rungo!
Given the Vowles interview, Williams are aiming for the front of the pack, and taking active steps to achieve it.
Interesting that Helmut weighs in publicly. He just can’t let himself be eclipsed.
Good luck, Yuki! Keep going.
Ayy glad to catch one early! :)
Great video
I got a massive case of dega vù watching this 🤷♂️ .
1. Fia has banned stroll before fyi
2. Alpine apparently are looking into using a different engine manufacturer , things could align for yuki I guess .
3. Admittedly I'm a Ricciardo simp , but I think if anyone should've had the boot out of the red bull , it would've been perez (my opinion, he should've gone to merc as the car is a little bit more suited to his style)
4. I have a feeling rbv is being aimed at being literally the number 2 team - in f1 behind red bull ...
I think red bull are playing chess at the moment and are only half way through their move 🤐
Is yuki able to jump to the main team since redbull own both? And swap around those 4 drivers to have the best in the team?
Checo and Yuki getting an extension doesn’t mean Yuki is stuck
Red Bull could always swap Checo from the main team at any point of he continues to perform poorly
And simply throw Yuki into the RedBull alongside Max, and Checo be in RB with Ric
Wildcard prediction, Lawson goes to Williams or Sauber, depending on which way Sainz doesn't go
Hey mosako good to see ya
Since when is drugovich a candidate for the audi seat? I'm not complaining, just curious
video about (ex)f1 drivers during lemans 2024?
I don’t understand what’s the point of Red Bull having an academy if there are maybe 1 to 2 drivers move to the main team. And dropping drivers from their academy after a few months is crazy to me. So many drivers are in that academy and only a few make it to Vcarb.
Whats the ladders name?
Rungo Stair
Well staying in RB is the better choice since all the seat available are behind RB beside Mercedes
Yeah, but losing out on the 2025 shuffle is a shame but as Yuki said, he would be said if RB continued to be good.
The Ferrari and Mercedes-AMG Driver Academies are okay. Ferrari (relatively) recently brought Leclerc into F1 and then into Ferrari itself, while Mercedes-AMG did the same with George Russell, and Oliver Bearman is definitely in F1 in 2025, and Antonelli is likely also going to be in F1 the same year
3:23 me, almost reflexively: "carlos, because getting random podiums nobody remembers was kinda his thing!"
If only other rookies got the grace and the amount of time to develop. He's very lucky tbh.
Cough cough, williams 2nd driver
@@alexcarolan8825 I could mention a handful of drivers lol
RB kept Tsunoda because they see him in the RB seat.
genuine question you don’t think tsunoda will follow honda to aston martin? i’ve heard so many different opinions!
I do not think they trust Yuki alongside Max, but they also don’t want Yuki to go to a competitor
Yuki still expects to replace Checo...
Yuki comes with Honda. Honda moves to Aston in 2026. Yuki gets renewed by RB until end of 2025 while Honda still powers RB and Visacashapp. What is so hard to comprehend about this?
Honda 2026 deal matches his contract then RB Visa goes to Redbull Powertrains Ford...
rb have no younger talent in f1 right now, what will happen when max takes sudden sabbatical or go to other team? let checo lead the team. even lawson need one season full in vcarb to polish his talent and ricciardo... i don't know about his future
Ricciardo has no future in F1
Dont, dont give me hope for Felipe
dik seems kinda fair , that they gave him 3 seasons to bed in and become a solid drive , now they can cash him in , short term or long term depends on them
The only reason that everyone knows is that Checo brings RB twice or trice what they pay him in salary.
It’s as if the grid could do with a couple of extra new teams for all of these drivers …..
Everything and everyone are backup plans in the event that Max leaves, or Perez gets even worse.
They're just the pawns in the chess game
Prediction: Perez has a clause if yuki outscores him this year they will cancel 2025-2026 agreement and yuki will drive for RB next season
Red Bull are keeping Yuki because of RedBull - and it seems they still need Honda tech because as history shows
producing a engine is a difficult and very fickled thing.
Game. Set. Match.
“Catch 22” Ok I see you with the puns Law😂
6:26 hey....that is a good idea....tsunoda to alpine...reuniting with gasly and bringing in a honda engine deal....that would be a huge improvement....an alpine-honda bwt team....
LawVS should be their Team Principle
5:24 stroke inducing gaff
In demand and yet offers 1 year extension
i really hope Drugovich gets that Audi/Sauber seat
Horners actions/plans are not constructive for RB right now. Doesn’t seem like the mastermind that’s been sold to everyone.
I hope Yuki gets a seat where he’s not a pawn to others games.
People are getting angry at RBR, but they’ve given 10x more drivers their shot than any other team. Also, people are upset over Liam? Really? The guy couldn’t even beat F2 rookie Logan Sargeant in his second year of F2 and his “big P9” in Singapore required 6 DNFs.
Need a rule change. Bottom 3 drivers with at least 1 year experience get relegated. Top 3 f2 drivers move up to fill the places but can be traded.
They have Spiderman. But we have our Ladderman.
If we could have a 13 team grid...
How did you make Yuki look so chad? 🗿
