I read cosmos and psyche when it was first released as passion was so beautifully written. At first when i encountered astrology after the first 100 pages of brilliance I was profoundly disappinted....not astrology. I had written it off for 20 years but to my shock, it was a huge shock...Astrology has got me. I can fully appreciate some peoples repulsion but be open and you may be surprised. Now a decade later, I am comvinced Tarnas,s work is truly revolutionary...but have and you decide. I hope to see more of Tarnas on rebel wisdom.

There's something to it, I've long thought.
Wild to think of Peterson as speaking on behalf of the repressed. In fact he speaks on behalf of the "oppressor collective" which has always been framed as the main character, and for the first time, is being told to shut up and let everyone else talk, and are now in the throws of a generational tantrum.
Yeah I would be surprised (and disappointed) if he hasn't changed his thoughts on Peterson after the last couple years
Generational tantrum. I like it. But times are changing and the "oppressor collective" is fragmenting as it becomes redundant.
Wild to think that the one's telling others to "shut up" aren't the "opressor collective", sounds very unaware of that which said individual claims awareness of, funny that thing called projection is.
And who is this oppressor collective he speaks on behalf of?
I wonder what he thinks about him now.
Why?
I would love to hear Tarnas and Peterson discuss the Collective Psyche and flesh out their differences.
If you aren’t well-versed in philosophy/history, read Tarna’s book. It really is a liberal arts education in a single book.

Legiondude passion of the western mind. Haven’t read Cosmos & Psyche, but the astrology component is repulsive, even though I might give it a try at some point just because Tarnas earned the benefit of doubt from his masterpiece

Why is this Rebel Wisdom folk so obsessed with Jordan Peterson? Every time it comes up in my feed someone else is being asked about him.
Tarnas's 'Western Mind' had a huge impact on me when I was 15/16.
I found Peterson's channel about Maps of Meaning after Tarnas removed his lectures on Hilllman's theories; guess the birds flew further for me~ thanks much! (Am keen to re-access those lectures though, I only watched them 3 times ~:-) I am deeply grateful to Tarnas for his shares on YTube on his and other's work, that aid me in self-training in depth psychology; and Becca's, The Red Book and The Red Book..., continues to be a reference point too.

I can remember that Peterson’s birth time wasn’t available at the time of the initial podcast but is now. It is very useful to analyze it in retrospect.
Peterson doesn’t speak for the “oppressed” at all, unless one perceives his faithful audience as those for whom the “oppressor collective “ ( to borrow @MeaganAngus descriptor) paradigm program hasn’t worked for. Predominantly young men for whom the whole higher education route to “success and happiness “ of modernity hasn’t worked out for. A very expensive hurdle to overcome before you actually reach the next barrier erected by the powerful to protect their position- whether it’s in the academic, market based, or political world.
His whole involvement and investment with Shapiro and Boreing’s DAILY WIRE + has been a fiasco imo.
I can see how the whole gender pronoun conflict motivated him to more public success, but he obviously “fell into his own shadow” with his support of Zionism and genocide. His attempts to create a “religious dialogue “ are actually pretty sad when you consider those with whom he aligned with ( Dennis Praeger, Jonathan Pageau, etc…).
I really doubt he truly understands Jung and Nietzsche at this point. Simply another “philosopher”.
Generally an 'Aggressive Interviewer' isn't interested in what's being discussed, only in trying to reaffirm their own preconceptions. As shown perfectly in the Peterson-Newman interview. Her preconception was wrong and Peterson managed to show that to the viewers that were open enough to actually listen.
I think there is a balance. Newman is a good case for your position , of re affirming the dogma. But some difficult questions opens doors to skeptical minds who would otherwise remain in place.
Plenty of interviewers can ask difficult questions without being so clearly aggressive. It's about the attitude and how the questions are framed. more than the questions themselves.
The thing is, JBP is reaching the Deplorables. That's his skill, that's his USP, that's his brilliance. I was out with the Deplorables on the protests for Tommy Robinson in London. I could not believe how many people I talked to knew about Jordan Peterson. That is nothing short of a miracle. The forgotten underclass of Britain, they have been watching Jordan Peterson videos? You really couldn't make this up. None of them could afford to buy tickets to go and see him at the O2 arena, but they had been watching his videos. Something connects JBP, Tommy Robinson, Count Dankula, Paul Joseph Watson, Sargon of Akkad etc etc. It's the freedom of the internet, RUclips and the IDW. We have to protect this freedom, somehow. I don't know how. But we have to protect it. Thank you for your great videos.
Speaking as an out of work bricklayer (honestly!) I totally agree!
Humans are evolved as hunter/gatherers. We are 99% the same DNA as all great apes. Our sole difference is in the hundreds and even a thousand different species of gut bacteria we harbor in our microbiome. These become small chemical factories producing the many neurotransmitters (speech, etc.) that make us special. Good bacteria need fiber, bad bacteria eat our protein causing aging. Jordan has taken to only eating meat. He's missing the food for important processes losing bacterial diversity. That's what happening to him.

That definitely explains how people react to him. He has got to be THE most misunderstood person of our times. I think he’s Saturnian, though, and the softer side of society does not like that.

Jordan Peterson is a bright light and a deep and profound thinker and it pains me deeply that he is so misunderstood
I think Jordan has absorbed more of that criticism than is obvious. It seems he has been quite anxious lately although he has had some personal family issues that play into it.
Of course people will misunderstand him, not everyone wants to listen. Some people just want to have it their way. Entitled spoiled children...
