Pickup and drop services are very easy. Just show your DL and booking confirmation at the counter and they’ll give you the car. For drop they will tell you where to park and also where is the Dropbox for the key.
Love you video. You've mentioned the border crossing fees. Where do you pay those fees? And do you have to inform the car rental agency of the countries you intended to visit?
You pay it while picking the rental car at the rental car office. You need to inform in prior as there are rules for each country and incase you cross borders without proper intimation there might be some hefty fine.
There is an option called TT cars (Temprovary Transit car rentals) in france. Where In we got a brand new 7 seater (even registered on your own name) from Citroen for 22 days by paying 1080 euros back then 2017. This was an all-inclusive price and do not want to pay a cent extra in name of insurance or anything. Un-fortunately i am not an RUclipsr so no videos to share the experience about it. We started from Paris, drove to Amseterdam, Franfurt, Stuttgart, Austria, Itally drove all the way till Rome, back to French rivera, entered Switizerland, Went all the way to Luceane and fianlly back to Paris. Droped the car after 21 days of road trip and flew back to bangalore india. Total cost of the car costed us roughly close to 1800 euro. Out of which, around 400 was only for diesel, and another 200 for tolls.
Yeah because we both need to calculate how much distance we have left to cover as per our plan & according to which we need to fill petrol. What’s so funny in that?
Regarding highway driving: you are always supposed to drive on the right lane unless you are overtaking. Driving in the middle lane (lane hogging) is frowned upon. Just something to remember for your next trip to Europe :)
Only one good video on RUclips about road trips and rental cars with complete information. I would like to know about the experience of driving on the highways. We are planning to go to Paris from Zurich by car. Let me know if it's a good option or not."
Thank you!☺️ Driving on the highways or motorways is the easiest part. You can easily drive at 100+ speed. Driving in the cramped cities is a challenge!
Thank you!😊 Normal Indian DL (in English) works fine but it’s highly advisable to carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) as well. You can easily get it from your nearest RTO .
This video is incredibly informative. Could you please provide information about the total border fees for a trip from Croatia to Montenegro, then to Bosnia, and finally back to Croatia?Thank you in advance!
Thank you so much 😀 The border fees that we had to pay was I think 50 Euros (this fees cover all the border that we crossed - Montenegro & Bosnia). But they keep changing the fees. & the structure was different for every company! Please check your rental car terms before booking . It will be mentioned under the ‘Extra Services (Payable at Counter)’ tab.
Hey, this information is quite helpful! Could you please mention the documents that are required to rent a car? And the process of getting international driving permit, if you can. Thanks!
Hey thanks! For renting a car you only need a valid driving license (in English) and a credit card (has to be in the name of the person driving the car). For IDP you need to apply through the same RTO that issued your DL. You can go to Parivahan website and apply online. Then visit the RTO with the documents they mention on the website.
Hi Soumya, I came across your travel vlogs while planning for a trip to Austria and loved them for their construct and information provided. Thanks for creating them and sharing with all. One quick question - what is the portal that you used for booking the car rental?
Thanks for these informative videos. It really helps for planning our Europe Trip in July this year. We are planning to visit Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna in Austria. Do you recommend taking rental car to explore the cities or will the public transportation will be efficient?
@@crichessill We rented a car in Austria and then dropped it there itself as we were flying to Croatia. We then picked a car in Croatia and took that same car to Montengegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Slovenia. Dropped our car at Slovenia airport.
Hey there Thanks for the tips! We are travelling to Munich this September and plan to rent a car and drive to Swiss, Italy, Austria and Czech before returning the car at Munich after 16 days. Are there any additional border crossings permits that we need to buy do you know…? Or is it not feasible way of road trip..? Thanks in advance!
Sounds awesome! You just have to inform them when picking up the car that you’ll be crossing borders and accordingly they’ll charge you. European roads ofcourse are amazing and you can easily cover large distances in very short time. Have fun 😁
Can we get the IDL from ITCA or IDA ie websites avlb on the web or from automobile association of India ....will it be legit ? As getting same from rto is not materializing
I am not sure how legit these documents will be. You can always go through an agent.. there are many located outside any RTO and will help you get the IDP within a week or less than that
Hi there thank you for your wonderful advise. If you can suggest any car rental company. It will be a great help because I am planning to travel for 27 days total 6 countries by the car.
Can I rent a car in one country and take it to as many countries as I would like for a month and return it back to where I got it from? Video was very helpful ❤
Yes you can. Make sure to see in which all countries you can take the car as it varies from company to company. You will have to pay cross border charges though.
We did take an IDP but no one asked for it the entire time we drove there.. not even while picking the car! But it’s a good to have document & incase police stops you they might ask you for it
It will have the vignette for the country you pick up the car in.. for other countries you might have to purchase after crossing borders. Please inform at the pickup place about the countries you plan to visit and they will inform you accordingly.
It’s a good to have document and you should carry as you might be asked to show it. We had the IDP but didn’t have to show it anywhere.. they just asked for our DL

Hi, do we need IDP or will our Indian driving license work ?
Both of these videos are very informative..

Thanks for sharing but the funny point I laughed was at 16:25 where you as a driver asking your wife "2.5L le lu?"

Is Tata motors available in Europe especially in UK??
Hey I haven’t seen Tata cars in the countries we visited and can’t see them in rentalcars website as well . You do get Hyundai, Kia , Volkswagen

Sure! We always use rentalcars.com and from there you can pick car companies like Europacar, Avis, Enterprise. They are all very reliable!
Planning to book a car from Sixt for Barcelona to valencia. Do you recommend any other rentals?
We have had good experience with Avis, Budget, Europacar. Make sure to compare the ratings and reviews before finalising a car!
What happens if you don't pay the car rental cross boarder fee and you cross a boarder?
The necessary charges will be deducted from your deposit amount that the car rental company has blocked on your card.
thanks :)

It is safe to park at a free parking lot , since I heard the car can be broken into
It is very safe when you park at proper designated parking slots..free parking lots also if you see many cars parked there are safe

Hehe for us too initially!
For the free parking, i saw some family from India, came back and changed the timer so they can park for extra hours! Same cheap selfish mentality!
