    One more tip to add!!!
    Perhaps the trickiest and most stressful part of car renting is insurance. I’ve found the best way to deal with it is through a company called “Rentalcover” - and no, I don’t work for them! 😄 They give you a quick online quote and purchase is simple easy. I’ve found the coverage they offer is more extensive at about half the price. I got the dates wrong once and once I canceled (due to the pandemic) but they were super nice and helpful about it. They even tell you what to say if the rental company tries to upsell you to their policy. More coverage, cheaper price, less stress!

      I used my Costco card which comes with insurance for rentals. You can get a print-out from Costco explaining the coverage.

      @@lemonsandlavenderDoes Costco offer individual insurance policy?

      @@jw_nomad If you pay with your costco card, you get some kind of coverag. Call the travel desk at costco to get a letter saying that the car is covered. I think this is how it works, but please investigate for you

      Great to hear from you in S.A. Just goes to show that everyone around the world loves France. I hope I can do more videos. I'm planning a trip to Italy next year.

    This is very good advice, you could have added knowledge of the particularities of the driving rules (you do not turn right at a red light, priority on the right in France...) and traffic signs in the form of pictograms and no lengthy texts like in the USA.
    I saw a photo of Roussillon, not very far from where I live. Did you like this region: the Luberon ? L'Isle sur la Sorgue is a very pretty village. Lemons and lavender, well done! Well summarized!

    Hi Michael and Sharon...thank you for this vlog! I'm pulling my hair out because the hours of operation for rental car company's in France are so limited - most are closed on weekends and have a 2 hour mid day lunch closure and all close at 5pm - so getting a train from Paris to a small town in time to rent a car the same day is impossible, and if you stay the night and manage to get a car the next day, you have to return it during the week...and I can't find any company that allows you reserve online and drop off the car at a different location. I'm looking in the Dordogne region. Any advice? My entire trip is now being planned around the rental car. Also, AAA in the US will issue an International drivers permit in minutes in their office.

    Hi. Do you have a recommendation for car rental company in Croatia? Thanks

      @lemonsandlavender  Месяц назад

      I don't, but my only suggestion is to use a US company, Enterprise or Avis, maybe Hertz. I've had terrible luck with domestic companies. I've heard bad stories too from others.

    Do we need an insurance coverage?

    • @lemonsandlavender
      @lemonsandlavender  2 года назад +1

      Its a good idea. You can buy insurance from the car rental. But we used a credit card from Costco that provides insurance for rental cars.

    Hi could you please help me and tell me if I rent a car from Athena and in a round trip and go to Italy and head back to Athena again is there a problem by renting a car and Crossing border I'm from Canada 🇨🇦 going first time to Europe I heard you cannot cross border by rental car according to booking and Expedia . Play if this is not true if you can send me a website for rental .

    • @lemonsandlavender
      @lemonsandlavender  4 месяца назад

      I'm sorry. I do not know the answer to that question. I have never tried to cross borders with a rental car. If it was me, I would rent in one country, then turn in my rental car. Then I would train or fly to another country.

    Didn’t realize one would need an international drivers license.

      Usually not, but in Spain they wouldn't let me get the car without one, so get it!

    Can you provide insight on car rental return? I’ll be picking up in marseille abs returning to Perpignan - although I assume I can ask in marseille for the drop off address when I get the car, I have been told that sometimes signage for drop-off is minimal. Am I worrying about nothing or do you have any insights?!

    • @lemonsandlavender
      @lemonsandlavender  2 года назад

      We always drop off in the same place. Then we train to another area and rent another car. I find that easier.
