I love how Gabriel would just grab half of King Crimson any time he wanted to do an album.
um,.. Robert Frip who IS king crimson would lend Pete some of his tools when he wasn't using them at the moment...
@@user-zd4jx4tg9dhe's gone mad with power
@@user-zd4jx4tg9d Robert Fripp played on some Peter Gabriel albums.
Actually , many went to King Crimson for the musical exploration. Tony was with Gabriel in 77 then KC in 1981 onward. Same for Bruford leaving YES to join KC. It is interesting to see the overlap of musicians in our musical tastes. ❤ cheers
One of the very finest bass players in the world.
Couldn't agree more!
Him and Sklar are definitely some of the best
@Forzaguy125 Also Pino Palladino.
Totally agree
Wowza, I agree! He’s mesmerizing 🥰
Imagine how his body feels. Talk about catching a buzz??!!!! 💭
This guy doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves. He’s responsible for tons of amazing baselines
Ranked second in the list of under appreciated bassman. John Paul Jones is no. 1.
I always wanted his job still I'm okay😊😊😊
I think he did Wrigley Field. Great baseline.
i think he's greatly appreciated in the bass world, KC, and his many other great projects- and I'm sure he's OK with it 😊bass in your face
*bassline
Good grief, he’s SO bloody good.
I know haha I love his unique approach to the bass
Saw Tony in concert and was awed by his talent....Peter Gabriel picks the best...
Such a bad ass bass line.
Levin is a bass god.
Tony Levin is one the greatest bass players nobody's really heard of.
Most musicians know who Tony Levin is and respect the hell out of him.
I've known his name since I was 13. I'm 40. He's definitely known and appreciated. I wanna know what Happened to Stu Hamm. Now that's a name I never see or hear
Nobody? Huh?
@@a.nobodys.nobodyI've played guitar since I was 7 or 8, I'm now 39. I had never heard of King Krimson or Tony Levin until a few years ago.
Lo conocen...no lo entienden...
What an unbelievable legend. The man is almost a mythical-type figure. He’s so unique and one of a kind.
Crazy Soulful and Funky Bassline. Love the Sound.
One of the best bassists I've ever heard, and his performance from start to finish on Secret World Live - Peter Gabriel 1993 Italy, is some of the best bass playing I've ever seen
He’s the man! Thinking about doing a whole documentary style video on Tony, what you think?
One of the greatest bass lines by one of the greatest bass players. "Watching the Wheels" and his Stick part in "I Don't Remember" are just two other lines that are pure bass perfection.
i love how he is saying "We" instead of "I" , amazing bass player !!!
Damn that so groovy😍
I know he has such a great feel
Me Tonto.
His opening riff on Sleepless blows every bass line out of the water.
Tony is frickin' awesome! Love him!
I love that his natural instinct as a bass player is to upstroke everything.
I never tire of the tone he got for this song.
Tony's SO funky!! 😅
Such a talented bassist! Love this demo. That tone KILLS and those chops OMG.
Amazing bass player, seen him live numerous times with KC and Gabriel, but he’s also done hundreds of studio sessions with other musicians, not to mention aiding the development of the Chapman Stick. Looks great for his age too - turned 78, June 2024!
Tony is cool af
Saw him with King Crimson at the Mann Music Center 1982. Great show
A bass god among men. ❤️
The Man, Mr Tony Levin 🙏
Una leyenda.
No one can be King Crimson bass boss without being just a beast....
Sounds so good. Along with John's vocals, George's guitar, and Ringo's drumming, this is the timeless bass playing we all remember. Kids today, am I right?
One of my all time favorite bassists! Thank you for all your musical gifts to us Tony Levin!
Tony Levin. True musical genius.
Fretless Cutlass 2 bass!
A true master. 🎸
Such an amazing funky bass line. Glad i got to know who he is because of genesis and peter gabriel. I could listen to this bass line all day.
The greatest bass solo i heard on stage with King Crimson. By the way, hi to Bill, my favorit drummer. Hug 🤗
Worldclass Bassline👍
This bass line is the work of a genius
Great Tony! 👍
Bloody brilliant xx
Magician!
You and Stanley Clarke stand out in my mind and most prevalent every time I think of a song I think of you two in one way.❤
King Crimson is a tour de force of musicianship.
Levin's a legend. Squire-esque.
Best song and vid clip ever
One of the greatest bass lines ever from one of the greatest players ever!
Underrated bassist
He is an Outstanding Musician and has A GREAT VOICE!!!😎😎😎
Godlike tone.
Just a truly beautiful piece of music. It is ear candy. That is the work of a soulful genius. It slaps in the song, but alone it’s smooth as butter.
One of the greats hands down
Wow so integral to the song's sound and vibe
Yes your right 👍
The Chinese finger cuff extensions are my favorites of every trick Tony has up his sleeve.
Such an amazing musician ❤
Out effin standing!!
Tony Levin is a lot like Ringo Star - not flashy but always able to put the right note in the right place in service of the song
Maestro gracias !!👍🥰🎼
I very much enjoyed your video and I gave it a "Thumbs Up."
The god of thunder!
Maestro Tony Levin
Fretless bass with a pick gives it such nice top end growls
Fantastic Bass player Ace👌
I'm hearing parts of ' Tell me something good '..
Ah yeah you’re right!
I thought that is what this song was… what is the song name of this jam?
@@andrewpantalones I need to know!!!
That sound is crisp, so good with headphones on and all. ✌️☺️
Grande Tony
Damn that sounds Sooo Good 😊
Excellent excellent excellent 🕯️💜💙💜😌
Masterpiece
TL is Legendary
Learning from the Master👏
One of the best there is
That Bass Diggin in
Tony just gives out that sound like nothing, sitting on chair, having a chat lol Such groove. In Daniel Lanois' interview with Beato he explains also how they made that sound using compression and gate from the desk at "11". Everyone that has worked with Tony Levin says he just needs to hear a song once and he's got it mapped out in his head and just comes out with the greatest parts, just like that, sitting on a chair. lol
Tony is amazing
Such a genius!
The master of his art
Legend.
The man, the myth, the legend. All 7 feet of him
sei un grande
Grazie mille Vincenzo 🙏
king!👆
Sick!!
What a tone. Actually sounds like "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus.
That compressor pedal needs recognition…
One of the best ever king crimson peter gabriel adrian belew to name a few
Seinfeld: "And what's the deal with toaster ovens??"
Seen Tony with Peter Gabriel, Liquid Tension Experiment, ABHW, & King Crimson. One of the GOATBassists. No doubt.
Very innovative.
A genius 👏👏👏👏👏👏
ive had the honor of seeing this man in giant stadiums and clubs so small he had to get out the way so people could go to the mens room. humble, unassuming, a complete gentleman
Que lindo cuando los bajistas tocan como bajistas.
Getting an octave pedal asap!
Me encanta ❤❤
I Agree w/Everyone's Comment 👍 I'd just like to add B4 TL went on tour w/Peter Gabriel- He Chatted w/Me🤯&He Is Very Humble & Appreciative As He's Is Creative ✨ which makes Him even More Incredible🤗
Peter Gabriel called Tony Levin the master blaster, -the king of the bottom end. It was in a dvd concert.
What a unique picking technique. Up stroke heavy
I met him in person and he has a calm healing energy about him. Strangely, he was having a garage sale and I did not know I was walking into his realm until I was ready to purchase my item. You never know who you’re going to meet.
One time Steven Tyler was on my bike Taxi , but only gave me $10. I was not happy I met him.
i thought the bass in the howler sounded interesting nice to hear how they came up with the sound
Un crack!!!! The best
Damn, is he bending the bass strings?!
"i'm not in danger, I AM THE DANGER !!!"
A classic!...IMO all the live recordings are even better than the original...
Just needs that “weeeeooowww” growl
Sounds like a bass line to a 90's sit com theme song
Yessss!!!
