Vento Aureo was the first JoJo's part I read the manga for, and it genuinely changed my life. That isn't just exaggeration, without Vento Aureo, I wouldn't know what I wanted to do with my life. When I finally read Vento Aureo, I was just starting college, majoring in art. I knew I wanted to do art, but I didn't know *what* I wanted to do with my art. Enter Giorno Giovanna. From the moment Giorno said those famous six words, I felt something special. "I, Giorno Giovanna, have a dream." At the time, I had realized my previous dream just wasn't everything I had hoped for. It wasn't as fun as I thought it would, and so I accepted that. I was now pursuing art, not because it was my passion, but because my father praised my artwork he saw once and said I should pursue it as a career. I had tried many things before coming to art, and failed in them all. I felt directionless in life, but as soon as I finished Vento Aureo, I felt personally changed by Hirohiko Araki's magnum opus. I had liked JoJo's for a while before this, but Vento Aureo and Giorno Giovanna changed that like to a passion. I was enthralled by Giorno, and I was jealous of his passion and dedication to his dream. I couldn't help but think "This fifteen-year-old kid not only knows what his dream is, but he is adamantly pursuing it in the face of death... *I want to be this kid."* From that moment on, I knew my dream: To become a comic creator and inspire at least one reader the same way Giorno Giovanna inspired me. Life has been difficult these past few years, and there have been a few moments where I just wanted to let it end, but there was always one thought that would yank me back to sanity: "I haven't reached my dream. I have not fulfilled my purpose." I believe it was Purple Haze Feedback which described Giorno as "A golden wind which blows through the lives of those around him, greatly impacting and improving those lives." Buccellati said there was something about Giorno that just allowed him to so easily earn the sincere respect of his companions and friends, and while I can often understand why a character might feel some way toward another character, this was the first time that I myself genuinely felt that exact way. Giorno is the golden wind that blew through not only the lives of Buccellati, Abacchio, Fugo, Mista, Narancia, and Trish, but my own life as well. Whenever life is weighing down on me with its hardest moments, or there are times I want to just give up, I always tell myself: "I, Giorno Giovanna, have a dream," and like that, I am revitalized and encouraged to face any obstacle. Just the other day, I finally finished watching the anime (rewatching for me) with my best friend, and since he's rarely in town, in took us about a year and a half, give or take. He absolutely loved it and was speechless when it was over, and after I went home, he sent me a text later that night telling me he finally figured out where Vento Aureo fits into his JoJo's Parts ranking, and Vento Aureo was his new favorite, beating out Stardust Crusaders. That absolutely made my day. Vento Aureo was also the first JoJo's Part my father watched with me, and we watched it as it aired. Before that, he wasn't all that interested in JoJo's because it just looked overly dramatic and it confused him why one day he'd see me watching it with one JoJo and then another day there would be a new JoJo. After he and I finished Vento Aureo, we went back and started all the way from Phantom Blood, and he realized just what he was missing out on. We started discussing Stands, the significance of their musical references, etc. Vento Aureo means so much to me on a personal level, and I would genuinely not be the person I am today without it. I might not even be alive today without it.
As someone who is a few years out of college, having left in a state of total confusion that the RUclips thing is the first step towards fixing, I definitely sympathize with the struggle to find a purpose in your education when you went into it for conflicted reasons (although "my dad encouraged me" is a bit better than "I just assumed college was the next step"). Araki is pretty inspirational in general. A major factor in me getting interested in doing anything creative was how jaw-droppingly cool Rohan was in DIU. I am by no means a talented visual artist (I can barely hold a pencil) but he is the only reason I went back to drawing at all; which, along with other factors, kind of spiderwebbed into the realization that I need to be doing something creative and/or intellectual, even if it started out with me just making obscure RUclips videos. I have an incredible respect for even the smallest comic artist. I'm glad you found some direction in the midst of all that. I have yet to read PHF. My attempts to get into light novels have not gotten very far up until now but people seem to like that one. I'm seeing it's written by Kohei Kadono, which probably helps (I read Nisio Issin's Death Note tie-in as a teen and loved it). Hopefully it gets an adaptation, but if they pass it over long enough I'll probably just have to give in and read it. For me, DIU and VA are neck-and-neck for best part. Giorno is my favorite JoJo, Josuke is a close second; Part 4 has more fun character moments, Part 5 has better fights; what really tips the scale for me is Kira, who Diavolo can't really compete with; and even then it's razor close. Yeah, JoJo's is so flamboyant and fun that it's easy for people to miss the really sincere character writing underneath all the style. I don't know of anyone who can compare with Araki's efficiency at selling you on a character. He can explain their background in ten pages and have you totally on board with the rest of the story. Glad you liked the video. I really love Vento Aureo as well, which you probably figured.
Giorno's the type that goes through the Flat Character Arc: "Where he doesn't go through change, instead he changes the people around him." Which is equally great for for storytelling.
@@iliveinsideyourhouse3943 With GER, i doubt he (spoilers for part 6!) Died at the end. Considering MiH's sped up time is relatively harmless and only the environment can kill you, which again, GER would not allow such a thing to happen to Giorno and, by extension, itself
what i love about giorno is that he's a proactive protagonist. he's not waiting for a bad guy to kill his whole family to start his quest, he's trying to change the already established world he's living in. he basically takes the traditional role of the antagonist, but is the protagonist. i also love the fact that he's really weak by himself. people love to call him op, but the truth is that he only survived because his friends were there for him. i think that he only won one battle without the help of anyone else
@@SirSadness i mean diavolo had to reacto to him unlike other heroes who reacted to the actions of their villains. So Giorno is exact opposite of passive.
Thanks, appreciate it. Funnily enough, this video got a weird second wind after sitting at around 1,000 views for months, and I'm about 90% sure that's because your Giorno video got connected to it in the algorithm.
@@SavetheGreenPodcast I have no clue how much my stuff might have to do with it, but I am very glad you're getting the recognition you deserve, this is a good video! :)
It's called the flat character arc. The character already knows the truth and inspire others to achieve their own truth. It's one of my favorite arcs too. It's not in the same emotional level, but Goku belongs to the same category. And I'm happy you're talking about this with such passion, people seem to not like what they don't (try to) understand. Since we mostly consume this kind of media in our teens, we expect growth in our protagonists to inspire our own. We usually ignore how inspiring a character can be when they're just confident and adamant enough. Amazing video.
@@setteplays I'd disagree about his changes happening off screen for example goku not knowing what he wanted to do with his life until he meet and was inspired by master roshi to become a martial artist or when goku was going to get revived after the cell games he declined knowing that his presence brings trouble to earth if you want more examples of goku's character growth watch seth the programmers strength of son goku video and his defense of the moro arc video they are pretty good character and story analysis
@@turnerbrawley4715 Yes, but I see those moments as the payoff, not the development itself. I agree that Goku evolves a lot, it's a long story with lots of timeskips after all. But I don't see his development being explicitly addressed in the series, the changes are just consequences of circunstances involving mostly other characters that are inspired by him.
@@setteplays I dont think the development needs to be verbally stated all the time aslong as its shown within the characters actions which I think goku does every now and then but I do think goku presence pushes his friends to better themselves like a flat character would and in turn his friends causes goku to grow aswell
Making the main protagonist a supporting character within the scope of both the narrative and his powerset is such a unique and amazing move by Araki. I'm really glad that he decided to let the Passione crew take the spotlight most of the time, because having 5 characters allows for so much more room to have fun with fights and express interesting characterization than just one does. The characters all play off one another wonderfully, and Giorno is really the key that facilitates their dynamic. Giorno is effectively characterized through his friends, and that lends so much quality and richness to the characters of part 5 and every character is made more interesting for it.
I love characters who blur the lines between traditional masculinity and femininity. The long hair, pink suit, and ability to create life are all traits that are historically VERY feminine traits. I've never seen the male protagonist of a shonen series have so many feminine traits. This is never blatantly called out (nor defended) in the series and it just adds to Giorno's projection of confidence and how secure he is in himself. It's a small detail but it adds a depth to my appreciation for him.
Well pink wasn’t always a feminine color and same goes for long hair, but I agree, it further drives home the point of him standing up against the status quo
I’d like to mention about Giorno’s arc, he has a flat positive arc, where he doesn’t have a lie to overcome, and his truth helps others change for the better
Not to say that Giorno’s arc isn’t largely flat, but i feel as though his struggle to tie together his Jonathan and Dio sides is a progression worth talking about.
Exactly the video I have been looking for! You've explained all the reasons why Part 5 is very highly regarded, even compared to other parts, in Japan (I'm Japanese). I have never been able to explain very well those reasons myself, but you have masterfully unravelled those. Thank you!
Jotaro did have personal growth in part 3. He developed from edgy teenager with a strong sence of justice to a caring person who is still quite resrained but but doesn't fear to express emotions and build relationships with people
I agree but Jotaro was always a caring and thoughful person since as a child. In the first episode he decided to stay in prison just to don't hurt his mother.
@@aeunsan Polnareff is really over emotional and talk all the time but being emotional is not the same as character growth. I think he only got development in part 5 because in part 3 he still make the same dumb decision he did with Avdol and go alone to fight DIO. Like after all the Avdol drama he didn't learned nothing. This made them split, otherwise if they was together Kakyoin could have survived. And this kind annoys me since Kakyoin is my favorite 😔
ingriti Joestar || yes, polnareff was incredibly reckless when it comes to his emotions, but there’s a difference when he ran away the first time vs. the last time. the first time was for himself (and his sister) because he didn’t think the crusaders understand his pain. but as the story progressed, he slowly started caring more for the crusaders, leading to the second time he ran away, to avenge and iggy. and i’m not so sure about kakyoin. i feel like he still would’ve died, even if jotaro was there. jotaro had no idea how the world worked and if kakyoin didn’t die, no one would probably find out that dio could stop time. i love kak tho, he was my favorite character in part 3. i just wished araki put him in part 4 since jotaro looked so sad and depressed in diu.
Wow never did I think in All my time in the Jojo fandom someone would praise giorno so highly. And it’s badass thank you ! People are either apathetic to him or thinks he’s dumb and boring but I disagree he’s got a lot of cool and interesting details.
Fantastic video. I love your explanation on why Giorno being a supportive character isn't a bad thing and why it actually benefits Part 5 as a whole. Complaints about Giorno always boil down to "he doesn't feel like the main character" or "he's boring". Which I will never understand
I watched +350 anime but part 5 was a different thing. I literally fall in love with Giorno. His past, his personality, his voice actor, his fashion etc. all of things about him is perfect. I found this video after 9 month but i'm so glad to find someone thinks exactly same as me.
part 5 was the first anime i watched other than beyblade and b-daman. i absolutely fell in love with it and till this day is still my favorite jojo part and also giorno is one of my fav characters in fiction (top 10)
I H A T E that you have to make clear that you are serious when saying that Giorno is a good character. I'm gonna have to join the Mafia, become the boss, and stop the belief that Giorno = bad character. I have a dream
I actually hate giorno as a character because he feels more like a villain than a good guy. Giorno acknowledged his "dream", and was willing to sacrifice people for that goal despite that dream being completely unnecessary. He just suddenly decided to stop the drug trade, and manipulated the gang into following him through to that goal. He's also kind of a mary sue character, with no personal limitations, and I feel like most of his dialogue was ultimately focused on his own personal gain. He took the gang's individual beliefs and motivations and convinced them that their decision was of their own accord, when really it was just giorno twisting his words so that he would benefit the most in the end.
Ramble: This was the video I was waiting for all my life. He is just so beautiful, his intonation, demeanoru, the way he talks, his stand, voice actor, his color palatte, his personality, I am just in love. In love. Boy do I wanted to see a beautiful male character having a feminine ability, who is not op strong and need others. He changed my outlook as a person, I am a differnet person now. Then I realized Giorno Giovanna is the only thing I have ever wanted in anime universe. So, when I saw peple hate him, i was really really sad, But I didn’t let the to affect me this much. Your video made me so happy, you literally just spoke my mind. And also reading the comments of you sweet peoples filled my heart. I also love other Jojos too, but Giorno, oh my Giorno, words cannot express my love for you.
Yeah like i love Giorno Giovanna too and i would absolutely sing his praises to the heavens if this video already didn't basically. I get he loves Giorno but like you're sleeping on the other Jojos if you're saying they aren't good at getting out bad situations and don't have a 400 IQ. I mean it's Jojo
@@iliveinsideyourhouse3943 I mean he still has intelligence and would be beyond the tears and stuff afterwards and has extremely powerful stand so he would be reliable. And my best JoJo is Jolyne but we can agree to disagree (Unless you wanna fite me, lol)
this reminds me of a video I watched about supporting protagonist (something like that, I forgot). It talks about Paddington and his role as a protagonist without character development. That video essay made me think of how Giorno's role as a protagonist seems to fit the description. So when you talk about the same thing in the last few minutes, I'm like "yes, finally someone said it". Thank you for this video, this deserves more views!
Its actually from a book called Creating Character Arcs and I'm pretty sure paddingtons character arc is a flat character arc. In this arc the character doesn't change himself but instead changes the world and people around him which is what giorno and paddington do.
I love Giorno Giovanna, i relate to him because my childhood in a way is like his due to the abuse and everything but how this character turned it into a positive point and set a goal to clean up his city of drugs by becoming a gangster.
omg I love GIORNO! Hes so sidderent and creative and his plot was so amazing!!! im sorry just deadass finally love to see someone make a Giorno love-post.
Came back to this video after a couple years of first seeing it, and not only I still agree with everything, but I actually found myself even more invested than before. Giorno has always been my favourite JoJo, but the clearness with which you explained your reasoning (particularly about Phantom Blood's legacy) and your genuine, heartfelt passion for this character pulled me in and now I'm even more in love with part 5 than I was before. It just means a lot to me. Thanks a lot for this video man, it's great
fantastic video, BUT Jolyne is not “too nice” imo. I think the reason she didn’t go around killing everyone like Giorno is because she didn’t need to. She did later on though, and did not hesitate (look at Rykiel). I honestly think Jolyne would be more willing to kill someone than Jotaro. Maybe not as willing as Giorno or Johnny, but she’s towards the top as far as JoJos go. Sorry for the rant, just had to defend best JoJo.
I don't think Jolyne is "too nice" either. But i don't think being nice is a bad trait. Is very ironic that Jotaro is the most nice from all JoJos aside from Jonathan though.
@@mikedanielespeja6128 Jotaro is just a big tsundere, he have a tough persona but is very soft with a big heart like Jonathan. Even the people he killed (like DIO) is because he didn´t have another choice.
Actually, I think the Speedwagon foundation would be more interested in monitoring him to make sure he doesn't plan on doing anything evil just out of suspicion. If they were to reach out and get to know him in better detail I think they would employ him as an outer resource to their foundation instead of him only needing to call them
well, i’m not going to go by the rule of “they were looking for giorno and didn’t know his intentions”. i’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and say they heard about all his good doings and his contributions to defeating diavolo. i’m pretty sure they would definitely help him out. and even if he did have bad intentions to them at first, jotaro would probably be at their side to put Giorno in his place.
This was really great video! You did a great job at explaing why Giorno is such amazing character. I also agree that Vento Aureo feels like the end of JoJo's classic era. Part 5 has always felt like the peak of that style of JoJo to me, and you could see in Part 6 that he was trying to do more with it, but couldn't really and needed to reinvent the series to do so.
I disagree that giorno has fulfilled his character arc in his childhood he still had to overcome his flaws of over-reacting and burden of his allies deaths on himself and I think I'm the only person who doesn't think GE was nerfed (come at me)
It is definitely true that people still need to learn and grow after reaching maturity, and I didn't mean to imply that Giorno had became a final, perfect version of himself (adding that exact sentence might have been a good move, actually). My intent was more to say that Giorno had developed a strong sense of self which let him move on from his past and pursue a bigger goal, unlike most of the squad, who have found ways to make it from one day to the next but lack the deeper motivations needed to heal the damage from their tragic personal histories. I think you probably are the only person who thinks that. If Araki chooses to never use any of a stand's strongest powers, then it's an effective nerf even if those abilities canonically exist. Consider yourself officially "came at".
@@SavetheGreenPodcast note the only time giorno went up against an opponent where his "strongest abilities" could be of use after the fight with bruno was Diavolo where aside from the anime only scene where diavolo crushes a scorpion, all of his abilities were used
@@onepunchmanatee while I admit it is reaching, consider this, the power was used but with how many punches GE threw at Ciocolatta, he would have died pretty quickly regardless. Also showcasing the consciousness going wild while already using 7 pages of the chapter to display the beatdown seems like wasting page real estate (this point kinda weak I admit)
Thank you for making this video! I've never been able to explain fully why I like Giorno, but this explains it well. Someone pointed out to me that another way in which Giorno grew is that at the beginning he'd throw himself recklessly at the enemy and risk death and incredible pain multiple times because he was so caught up on proving himself to the group, and because of his feelings towards being useless (literally his stand cry). but after he learns how to heal, especially after the White Album fight, he's forced to value his well being more in order to help his teammates. It's fitting then, that the lesson he learned was about self preservation and how he doesn't need to do everything and trust his team, and GER's ability is literally the ultimate form of that. Almost nothing can hurt him now.
Giorno is a character that made me change my outlook on life. Our childhoods are eerily similar, and our outward personalities are also similar. I'm an adult, and I wish I'd read Part 5 as a teenager, because Giorno's resolve affected me in a deep way.
Thank you so much for making this video,it was phenomenal🙏❤, you did so much justice for Giorno, I agree wholeheartedly that he really is one of the best written characters in Jojo as a whole, and Vento Aureo as a part is a masterpiece imo, and it breaks my heart that people can't understand the brilliance of Giornos character 😭😞
But, Giorno does improve throughout the story. The fact that he was able to reach requiem is progress of him finding himself. His personality mix with Jonathan and Dio was terribly handled by Giorno if you think about it, but by the end, very evident in his fight with Green Day, he has been able to embrace the two personality traits quite well. Not only that, he's been discovering new things to do with his stand overtime, which symbolises how much better he is doing as a person imo. In other words he perfected himself overtime.
My only complaint about the video is that Araki never nerfed Gold Experience. The overdrive ability doesn’t work on living beings, only stands, as shown in the Black Sabbath fight. Now, let’s look at all the fights where GE punches someone: Bruno: it works. Black Sabbath: it’s an automatic stand, it shouldn’t work. Babyface: an automatic stand again, it shouldn’t work. Ghiaccio: protected by his suit, which is also his stand. It shouldn’t work. Cioccolata: there’s no reason to believe it doesn’t work, GE doesn’t have that much destructive power, but Cioccolata literally couldn’t move after his beatdown. Diavolo: no reason to believe it doesn’t work. Also, GER’s infinite death ability is speculated to be an evolution of this one. As for damage reflection, nobody ever really attacked Giorno’s creations. Cioccolata’s Mold and Ghiaccio’s ice doesn’t count, as it’s happening separately from them - it’s just nature doing it’s work. As for why the organs created by GE don’t have this ability, it’s because the ability is stated to be the organism protecting itself, so they need to be conscious to have this ability. Regular organs aren’t full organisms, so they’re not conscious.
For me the real issue is that Giorno doesn't even acknowledge those powers after they are introduced or make any effort to use them, when you'd expect such a strategy-oriented fighter to constantly look for/create opportunities to implement them.
Jeremiah Valeska, I agree regarding your points on GE's overdrive ability - after all, a fight is typically over if someone gets punched directly, and I always saw it as an ability which would allow Giorno to incapacitate people without killing them - though throughout the story it was generally better to go for the kill. But the damage reflection is too useful a tool to Giorno, hence why I think it had to be written out. The 3 times it's used (Luca, Koichi and Bruno) it's shown to be nigh-impossible to play around. There's never a reason for Giorno to not create a dog or tiger or shark etc to attack the enemy, because they wouldn't be able to guard against it! However, I don't like the idea of 'it was written out cos it's too OP'. So I came up with 2 theories: 1) Damage reflection doesn't work on stands. The main issue with this is it's effect of Act 3, but I'd rather claim that's an early installment goof rather than erasing the ability. In the anime Diavolo also stomps a scorpion Giorno created, but this is absent from the manga. 2) This one's less substantiated, but could fit thematically into the series. Recall how Bruno, upon losing Trish, claims that the most evil thing is to use people who know nothing to your own gain? This is effectively what Giorno would be doing if he sent the animals in to fight for him. He'd be creating life to defeat his enemies at collosal risks to themselves. Now this could be contradicted by Giorno's snake that he used to kill Melone, but in that case I see it more as a fool-proof assassination rather than him risking the snake's life. I think this theory is further supported by Giorno's exclamations when Luca was about to hit the frog - he talked about how the frog wasn't even loyal to him yet etc. So Giorno may see his creations on the same level as bystanders - he will use them to gather info, but not to do the dirty work for him if there's a way around it. In conclusion, whilst it's pretty certain that damage reflection was written out, I think that with some consideration of context and themes we can see it isn't just a case of nerfing or 'Araki Forgot'
I personally like to see Giorno as a positive catalyst for change and growth in other people. He definitely did some growing himself too, damn he is 15 and I definitely forget about that like 5 seconds after remembering it again, and I just enjoy this type of character I guess.
Giorno is already his best self and you explained it so well. He helps people become their best selves too and that’s the thing I love about him the most! You always need that one person in your life who will give you the final push you needed to achieve what you’ve been wanting. Thank you so much for this video ❤️
I know it isn't as philosophical but definently one of the things that lead me to liking Giorno was the 7 page Muda. That had to be the single most satisfying beat down of a antagonist in Jo Jo to date.
I just got into JoJo a month ago and Giorno is my favourite already. And not only him, I just love every character in Golden Wind arc. (Maybe except Fugo)
This video explains everything why Giorno is my favorite character to and why my favorite part Vento Auro is. This is something i cannot explain. Thank You.
Let’s not also forget the fact that Giorno is the youngest JoJo at the time being despite his fathers being the earliest generation. It took what? 200 years or something like that to conceive this child? At the same time having the other JoJo’s around too. Think about that. Mind blown concept
I love Giorno Giovanna to he's a he's one of my favorites and I'm not going to lie one of my favorite characters I don't care what anyone else thinks of me I'd be happy so take it😎
Yes! He's my favourite Character, too! Thanks for making this video!!! Edit : I actually started watching Jojo's because of the music and I don't regret it. I'm currently watching Part 5 again, (bc it's my fav) it's just too perfect
14:05 Accelerated maturity is a symptom of trauma, especially when that trauma comed from abuse or neglect. Giorno basically had to raise and take care himself because nobody else was going to do it for him. At the same time, regression in maturity is also a product of abuse, which may be why Narancia seems so immature compared to Giorno.
Giorno its a good protagonist and just gets shit because its a popular opinion to shit on him, and sheeps are really abundant in the Jojo community just look at the undeserved hate on part 6 and the Araki forgot shit. If it wasnt for Giorno and his resolve none of our beloved characters could have overcomed all of their adversities He acts like a good mature and cunning Mob boss like it should be.
I used to really struggle with how "weak" Giorno was in comparison to the other JoJos. It wasn't until the Cioccolata fight that something just clicked. Giorno isn't really weak, he just depends upon others to force them to grow and withstand under pressure. Giorno doesn't always fight back because he doesn't have to to survive. I really like Giorno for his mix of Jonathan and Dio. His determination never wavers and honestly, it encouraged me to never give up. I'm really tired of people saying Giorno is boring and weak when he is rather the opposite. Just because he doesn't make jokes or is loud doesn't mean he doesn't have a personality! This man bought a little child icecream with stolen money after he stopped the lady he stole from from being robbed of all her money... Giorno also sent a man into an infinite death loop, and just a week ish ago he was trying to scam a Japanese tourist and stole his luggage! If that's not personality, then I'm the queen of England.
I kinda like GE‘s design more than Crazy Diamond and Stone Free, might be mainly the colors but I also like how „organic“ the helmet looks, fits the ability.
Honestly, I don't even think Giorno was nerfed. His overcharge on Bruno was done by GE making physical contact with the stand user, and every other instance of Giorno fighting either involved GE hitting a stand instead of the user, or a muda rush finisher which may well still cause a life overload. God knows Cioccolata deserved it
When I started part 5, on ep 1 I hated Giorno's hair. It looked so ridiculous, lol. As I continued to watch however and my love for him grew, I realized how much I love his hair, , face, outfit, body, personality and his entire essence. I love Giorno to a fault! He is the most amazing character in the entire franchise.
I don't hate him, I just can't find a good reason to like him. He seems bland, stoic, and needlessly closed. I know there are good things too, but that ending just helps the bad parts.
Giorno, Josuke, Jolyne, and Johnny Joestar are my favorite Jojos. Josuke because I like his aggressive but kind personality and I love his wild temper. But he at the bottom because while he has personality he didn't have much of a impact in the story of part 4 since mostly it was about all of the characters instead of Josuke. Jolyne is interesting too, like Josuke, she awesome in both her stand, fighting ability, and her random lines and quirks. However, Giorno takes her spot because he has both Dio and Jonathan best traits, he kind, loyal, but ruthless and cunning when needed. He also has the most brutal kills. Next is Johnny Joestar, I'm not gonna talk about him too much since spoilers for Steel ball run, but Johnny isn't like the other Joestars, he has his own flaws and struggles but deal with it in his own special way, he has the most dramatic character arc and his sheer willpower is amazing.
I’m just saying if he pulled up in Part six that would be the coolest shit ever he just reverts everything back to zero father is confused you hear his theme playing OMG I CAN IMAGINE IT part six could’ve been so much better
Ranking Part 5 Characters 1. Giorno- *My boi* 2. Buccarati-He *stuck* to the plan till the end 3. Mista-Had a cool stand and attitude 4. Abbachio- :'( :'( :'( Great backstory and death scene 5. Narancia- They really did him like that Guess they were just *winging* it (This is a joke I love this guy it's just his death didn't seem fair since it was sorta obvious "When this is over I wanna go back to school and eat pizza" Being happy while fighting someone who can f with time was a sign something was gonna happen and then it did and was sad but not tearjerking) 6. Fugo- One episode to be lit and then they left him *good* But I hope he rejoins Giorno in the organization again
I'm monke brain but some part of me really wants to love Giorno beyond what I experienced in part 5. I think your video kinda gave me that push. The design to me oozes charisma without being oppressive and I love how his power is imbuing life into things. I also didn't take the time to realize just how much Giorno relied on his teammates for his power. My main gripe keeping him down is just personal since I'm someone who loves character interactions and sappiness. I had to learn to read others' moods and walk on eggshells so I kinda relate to that part of Giorno, but I wish it would have manifested even more through his interactions with his teammates. I know he's grown past the need to read people to survive, but turning a trauma response into a valuable skill to connect close with people is something I live for. It would have made the deaths of the others that much more impactful than they already are (especially that line with "no one will hurt you again"). Anyways this video has now made him a floating number 2 since I should revisit Joseph's part lol. Josuke is too charming in a different way so he'll stay ay number one 😅
14:10 "JoJo's ages were always arbitrary but Vento Aureo is where Araki seems to have done things by setting a random number generator to less than 20 and just spamming the button" I am genuinely terrified by how accurate this is.
LMFAOOOO I totally thought you had a few hundred thousand subscribers, what with the quality of your content, the editing and your points of view. I just wanna say, I love this video and everything about it! (Though I may be biased because Giorno is my favourite character too lmao)
Both are too nice and both are stupid teenagers, I mean, all of part 4 was just Josuke and his friends fucking around until Kira showed up which is when it gets really good, he's definitely the best villain in the show, funny Valentine is a contender but I still prefer Kira.
@Giorno’s Piano yeah, baby face was a really cool and creative idea for a stand, and the fight was great, but Kira was on a different spectrum in my opinion.
to make this quick, the examples you gave of the type of role Giorno plays in the story were all Paragons, which is definitely what Giorno is considering this amazing vid's explanation :0
@@SirSadness truthfully i enjoyed part 5 so much due to its biblical paralel and theme, i think without the added dimension of such symbolism then part 5 will be too bland to enjoy in term of character development
@@tulangkerangka1599 Really? I can't find many good things in religious allegories, if done right I think it's kinda cool, but here I think it's lazy. Diavolo is bad because fuck yeah He's bad, and Giorno is good because why wouldn't He be? Still bland for me, too needlessly stoic and static.
I feel like it should also be said the that the opening of vento aureo especially the ending climax of the song feels like a celebration of jojos as a whole.
I really love Vento Aureo as well, which you probably figured.

what i love about giorno is that he's a proactive protagonist. he's not waiting for a bad guy to kill his whole family to start his quest, he's trying to change the already established world he's living in. he basically takes the traditional role of the antagonist, but is the protagonist.
i also love the fact that he's really weak by himself. people love to call him op, but the truth is that he only survived because his friends were there for him. i think that he only won one battle without the help of anyone else

Goku has elements of the flat character arc but he does change every now and then
@@turnerbrawley4715 Yes! But almost always offscreen. With grandpa Gohan's reveal being the exception.
Giorno is effectively characterized through his friends, and that lends so much quality and richness to the characters of part 5 and every character is made more interesting for it.
till this day giorno is the only jojo with support oriented ability
I love characters who blur the lines between traditional masculinity and femininity. The long hair, pink suit, and ability to create life are all traits that are historically VERY feminine traits. I've never seen the male protagonist of a shonen series have so many feminine traits. This is never blatantly called out (nor defended) in the series and it just adds to Giorno's projection of confidence and how secure he is in himself. It's a small detail but it adds a depth to my appreciation for him.
Well pink wasn’t always a feminine color and same goes for long hair, but I agree, it further drives home the point of him standing up against the status quo
androgynous characters supremacy
giorno’s surname is literally female
I’d like to mention about Giorno’s arc, he has a flat positive arc, where he doesn’t have a lie to overcome, and his truth helps others change for the better
Not to say that Giorno’s arc isn’t largely flat, but i feel as though his struggle to tie together his Jonathan and Dio sides is a progression worth talking about.

Jotaro did have personal growth in part 3. He developed from edgy teenager with a strong sence of justice to a caring person who is still quite resrained but but doesn't fear to express emotions and build relationships with people
I agree but Jotaro was always a caring and thoughful person since as a child.
In the first episode he decided to stay in prison just to don't hurt his mother.
i agree but his development was overlooked because polnareff had a more noticeable development. jotaro is just quiet

Polnareff is really over emotional and talk all the time but being emotional is not the same as character growth.

@@peanutbuttercracker1 Jotaro is badass as fuck, probably too badass for most people, which is why so many people hate him.

This was really great video! You did a great job at explaing why Giorno is such amazing character. I also agree that Vento Aureo feels like the end of JoJo's classic era. Thanks, glad you liked it. Yeah, Stone Ocean is great but really feels like a transition.
Consider yourself officially "came at".

damn great video, this basically encapsulates why giorno is my favourite joestar (of the original timeline).
Glad you got something out of it; and that is a good point, I didn't really get deep into his role as the team's medic.

Giorno is a character that made me change my outlook on life. Our childhoods are eerily similar, and our outward personalities are also similar. I'm an adult, and I wish I'd read Part 5 as a teenager, because Giorno's resolve affected me in a deep way.
Just realised giorno never swore apart from once were he swore agains white ice and still apologised
That is very nice of you to say; glad you feel I made a good case for him.
sorry but johnny's morality problem in part 7 is way better
Now, let’s look at all the fights where GE punches someone:
Bruno: it works.
So I came up with 2 theories:
1) Damage reflection doesn't work on stands.
In conclusion, whilst it's pretty certain that damage reflection was written out, I think that with some consideration of context and themes we can see it isn't just a case of nerfing or 'Araki Forgot'
even without much power, you forgot that cioccolata got punched hundreds of times, maybe thousands due to ge's speed
I personally like to see Giorno as a positive catalyst for change and growth in other people. He definitely did some growing himself too, damn he is 15 and I definitely forget about that like 5 seconds after remembering it again, and I just enjoy this type of character I guess.
How dare you insult Jotaro Kujo, master of dolphins?

"Keep Moving Foward Until All My Enemies Are Dead" - Giorno (maybe)
He truly does have the best traits of both his father's
I don't know why, but that one line where "Rohan's...omnipotent" actually made me laugh. You earned a sub my guy
Obvious self insert is obvious.
Giorno is already his best self and you explained it so well. He helps people become their best selves too and that’s the thing I love about him the most! You always need that one person in your life who will give you the final push you needed to achieve what you’ve been wanting. Thank you so much for this video ❤️
You are very welcome. Thank you for your kind words.
my fav character too man!!! its been 2 years and still this guy is a genius!
This video explains everything why
Giorno is my favorite character to and why my favorite part Vento Auro is.
THERE ARE FINALLY WORDS FOR ALL THE FEELINGS I'VE HAD ABOUT GIORNO THANK YOU
Personally, Josuke is my favorite JoJo and I love part 4, but this video was amazing and you make a lot of great points
Giorno: Gets love letter
Giorno: Wh-
I love Giorno Giovanna to he's a he's one of my favorites and I'm not going to lie one of my favorite characters I don't care what anyone else thinks of me I'd be happy so take it😎
Part 5 was genuinely my favorite part
Yes! He's my favourite Character, too! Thanks for making this video!!! Edit : I actually started watching Jojo's because of the music and I don't regret it. I'm currently watching Part 5 again, (bc it's my fav) it's just too perfect
Part 5 is the best part. Don’t care what anyone says
Well, You doesn't need to explain yourself, go nuts.

Accelerated maturity is a symptom of trauma, especially when that trauma comed from abuse or neglect.
"A reckless dipshit"
I mean, I can't deny it, but I still love him
I used to really struggle with how "weak" Giorno was in comparison to the other JoJos.
Giorno was become "strongest" by being amped by arrow
You won a sub just because of this video. Amazingly written and narrated! Awesome work man
I kinda like GE‘s design more than Crazy Diamond and Stone Free, might be mainly the colors but I also like how „organic“ the helmet looks, fits the ability.
Honestly, I don't even think Giorno was nerfed. His overcharge on Bruno was done by GE making physical contact with the stand user, and every other instance of Giorno fighting either involved GE hitting a stand instead of the user, or a muda rush finisher which may well still cause a life overload. God knows Cioccolata deserved it
A man of culture and true knowledge
Don’t stalk me.
No no GioGio don't get it wrong, he just appreciates you 🙏🏾
You say he’s your favorite fictional character have you heard of shrek
When I started part 5, on ep 1 I hated Giorno's hair. It looked so ridiculous, lol. As I continued to watch however and my love for him grew, I realized how much I love his hair, , face, outfit, body, personality and his entire essence. I love Giorno to a fault! He is the most amazing character in the entire franchise.
I can't wait for part 7 to come. Johnny's character is downright fucking poetic
Why is this majestic boi the most hated JoJo?
I ghost directed this video. All of this???? 100% my sentiments exactly
He’s my tomboy Egirl so don’t mess with me
Ranking Part 5 Characters
1. Giorno- *My boi*
2. Buccarati-He *stuck* to the plan till the end
3. Mista-Had a cool stand and attitude
4. Abbachio- :'( :'( :'( Great backstory and death scene
5. Narancia- They really did him like that Guess they were just *winging* it (This is a joke I love this guy it's just his death didn't seem fair since it was sorta obvious "When this is over I wanna go back to school and eat pizza" Being happy while fighting someone who can f with time was a sign something was gonna happen and then it did and was sad but not tearjerking)
6. Fugo- One episode to be lit and then they left him *good* But I hope he rejoins Giorno in the organization again
As much as I love Giorno I wish I saw more of him swindling.
How tf is Giorno a Mary Sue.?before GER he almost died many many times if not for his friends
Jotaro and old Joseph are my favorite JoJo's
I love Jotaro too and i think he gets much more hate than Giorno.
14:10 "JoJo's ages were always arbitrary but Vento Aureo is where Araki seems to have done things by setting a random number generator to less than 20 and just spamming the button"
I am genuinely terrified by how accurate this is.
I feel like if you enjoy character growth a lot, you’ll absolutely love Johnny.
Mm Nn Part 7
LMFAOOOO I totally thought you had a few hundred thousand subscribers, what with the quality of your content, the editing and your points of view.
I just wanna say, I love this video and everything about it! (Though I may be biased because Giorno is my favourite character too lmao)
Very sweet of you to say. Hopefully you like a few of my others as well. Thank you.
@@SavetheGreenPodcast I'll definitely check them out! Also, please keep at it, because I'm really excited to see how you grow as a channel :)
I like Giorno, his hair reminds me of Kakyoin
Finally someone else whose favorite Jojo isn't Joseph! My personal favorite is Josuke, but Giorno is my second.
Josuke is a close second for me. I love DIU in general.
I think you mixed up, Josuke is too nice and Jolyne of being a dumb teenager
Both are too nice and both are stupid teenagers, I mean, all of part 4 was just Josuke and his friends fucking around until Kira showed up which is when it gets really good, he's definitely the best villain in the show, funny Valentine is a contender but I still prefer Kira.
@Giorno’s Piano yeah, baby face was a really cool and creative idea for a stand, and the fight was great, but Kira was on a different spectrum in my opinion.
Jolyne is more of a badass, and not nice or dumb, She's actually really violent, REALLY!
@@SirSadness she's the biggest Simp out of all Jojos
@@AWildVlad more than Johnny simping for Gyro's balls?
GER Ugly?!
What you talking about?!
Best Stand Design imo!
Your Pfp speaks for itself lol
His colour pattern is ugly, but has a sleek amazing look.
Orange hands are weird.
yo i love how passionate and straight forward you are about this i can tell you really love this
This video was great, Thank you.
to make this quick, the examples you gave of the type of role Giorno plays in the story were all Paragons, which is definitely what Giorno is considering this amazing vid's explanation :0
I would argue that giorno needs to be perfect in order for the story to work simply because he is a symbolic representation of the son of god
So simplistic It hurts. I guess that's why Diavolo is just evil... Part 5 is just the bible, damn, I was tricked!
@@SirSadness to each their own i guess
videos awesome, love giorno and part 5, love to see love for part 5/giorno. though preety sure giorno isn't half vampire and giorno wasn't nerfed.
I feel like it should also be said the that the opening of vento aureo especially the ending climax of the song feels like a celebration of jojos as a whole.
I love this so much 🥺
