- Ukraine has accused Russia of causing leaks in two major gas pipelines to Europe in what it described as a "terrorist attack".
Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhaylo Podolyak said the damage to Nord Stream 1 and 2 was "an act of aggression" towards the EU.
A Kremlin spokesperson said he was "extremely concerned" about the incident, and the possibility of a deliberate attack could not be ruled out.

This has to be linked to the US. I say this as an American. So sick of these criminals in office.
Russians famously fired some military fireworks around Ukraine's power plant at the beginning of the war in order to force power plant staff to shut it down, and you can argue that such behavior was clever yet stupid at the same time... The only fact is that everybody is guessing now but Russians come up with multiple excuses why they could not deliver gas to Europe at a full rate once Europe started sending weapons to Ukraine, if Russia cannot stop that, it hardly has any chance to win despite Ukraine can still end like an Afghanistan which would be hardly a win for Ukraine but may deter Belarus and other Russian comrades to try become free from Russia's influence. There is also an issue of West witholding Russian money as form of blackmail, and the same treatment towards West in response would be hardly surprising, so contrary to what some think, Russia has plenty of reasons doing pipeline sabotage but that alone doesn't make them responsible.
As a German I have to agree with you! USA wants us to buy gas from them so they have all the money in their bags and destroy our economy!

The US did exercises there on 10 September at the bottom of the sea 10 km from that place. There is a pipeline running from Canada to the US that may explode in the future as well and the UK's fibre cables are also in the sea
US did this. I worked for the John's Hopkins Applied Physics Lab on a small tactical covert submarine for the US special forces years ago. It was designed specifically for missions like this. Wouldn't be surprised if that's what was used. They're not going to be able to find enough evidence to 100% pin it on the US though.

If this is the case, if this is the USA then it is an act of unparalleled irresponsibility designed to circumvent the EU by forcing their hand over energy reliance on Russia. Now, that the EU, in particular Germany, made itself so beholden to Russia especially by Germany shutting its Nuclear plants, is not a good thing and the reason Putin has been able to bully the EU is because they put that power in his hands with catastrophically naive green energy policies. However, that the US may have resorted to blowing up the pipeline - never mind the environmental catastrophe in the Baltic, or the impact on European energy shortages this winter, shortages that the USA cannot make good, it indicates that diplomatic efforts to persuade the Germans to stop using Russian gas have failed and the USA has taken a unilateral decision to act.

A diver could not do it. An under water mine by a ship would be noticed by radar. Ukraine is not equipped enough to do this.

Ukraine and US are the most of all interested in closing Nord Stream. Because the only gas pipeline is going now through ukrainian territory. And US will make a huge profit selling its LPG to Europe. Ukraine itself is not able to blow up the pipe. Therefore, the British or US could do it. It is only my assumption though.

No. Ukraine does not benefit from Europe not getting russian gas. The main thing preventing some European countries from supporting Ukraine is the fear of losing Russian gas. Ukraine would be shooting themselves in the foot. This reeks of Russia sabotaging their own lines, making Germany pay for the repairs and maintain the energy crisis in western Europe. None of this benefits Ukraine, but it sure as hell benefits Russia.

Russia controls the flow of gas from the source, they have no need or reason to damage the subsea infrastructure. Now anyone who wanted to stop Germany and other EU states weakening their stance and buying Russian gas would definitely have an interest in doing this, but it makes no sense for Russia to have done this.

To answer that one, consider who gets hurt the most (Russia's ability to sell NG, EU's ability to get it) and who benefits (the US, Ukraine). Ukraine probably doesn't have the capability. If its found out it the US, it would represent a significant and scary escalation.

The main problem of European governments after the explosion of the Nord Stream pipeline is knowing that the United States carried out the explosion and realizing all the socio-economic consequences of this for their own population, to come up with a realistic explanation for why Russia blew up its pipeline, which it can simply turn off whenever it wants.

My guess, as a senior corrosion engineer, would be some type of mechanical failure, possibly a damaged pipeline. The cause can be determined by direct forensic evaluation by qualified professionals.

Strang if it was Russia. Especially when you consider they Still Transport Gas through Pipeline in the Ukraine. Which they pay to do so. And which the Contract Ends in 2024 and the EU have been trying to get it extended for another 15 years. Because Ukraine get 37% Tariff off the Gas Russia transport through it.
Is it strange though? They have been pretending that their pipelines need maintenance for months now. This just seems in line with all other Russian lies. They haven't "shut off" the gas in retaliation once (according to themselves), why would they start doing it now. Much easier to sabotage their own lines, make Germany pay for the repairs and keep gas out of Europe at the same time.
