- Here is a fantastic video filmed for Canadian television, with the young Suzanne Farrell, Marnee Morris, and Conrad Ludlow. In the corps is a "who's who" of dancers that later became soloists and principals.
See the music, hear the dance. Suzanne Farrell’s musicality is just otherworldly.
I’m dancing this now with my ballet company! First show is on Monday! So inspiring to watch!!! 🤍🖤🤍
Merde! Who do you dance with? I'm just looking at the stamina needed even for the corps!
Thanks. Everyone wanted to dance with Conrad Ludlow. He was their No. 1 choice. He was the "ne plus ultra" of partners.
That leggy, womanly, voluptuous, mesmerising, Farrell way of moving. It was right there from the beginning. What a great video. Thank you so much.
Very beautifully said!
Thank you John Clifford for these incredible films. It means more than I could ever express.
Sweet memories of dancing the male role in this choreography with Dance Theater of Harlem; in an amphitheater located on a hillside in Verona, Italy. The lovely Lydia Abarca was my partner.
wow.we need to see that video. i loved her in Bugaku
Wow. I wish I could have seen it. Thank u so much for sharing. The man has to do such hard lifts in Concerto Barrocco. The strain and strength of the male dancer in ballet is incredible! Female humanity owes a great debt to the male ballet dancers who labor so tirelessly in the rendering of the supreme beauty of the female ballet dancers which has given the world such great beauty to gaze upon and fill their soul with.
I remember watching you both dance. Exquisite! I was with Ailey at the time and later took classes at the Ailey school with Walter Raines. Thank you for all your beautiful dancing.
This is so incredible. Marnee Morris does that incredible jazzy thing coming front down the stage, Conrad Ludlow is incredible. Such strength. An extraordinarily attentive partner. A beautiful, virile dancer and great technique, Farrell a paragon of elegance. My favore ballet of Balanchine. An eternal masterpiece.
its all brilliant...but that pas de deux that continuously interacts with the others yet remains blissfully and sacredly seperate....what a feast for the soul!
beautifully said
BUONA l'euritmia a suivre della musica e la riconduzione interpretativa dei passi a musica.Alcune pose figurali dei gruppi MOLTO interessanti .BUONA la sensazione del continuum della narratio melodica.Molto bravi.Bighin GIULIO RENZO
thanks for posting this wonderful ballet, Bach, Balanchine and those Ballerinas, it is so beautiful and fresh. Too much talents at the same place .... it is overwhelming.
STUNNING!!! ALL the dancers were imbued with the soul of it. We’re transported! Thank you for putting this precious film out there for us to marvel over - and enjoy❤️
OMG, that was SO beautiful, fun, and incredible to watch. When I watched this a year ago, I focused on the lissome beauty of Suzanne Farrell and her iconic style; but this time I watched Marnee Morris. Wowza! Fast and precise, with a unique style of her own. Someone else called it “jazzy”, and I agree. And the strength required of Ludlow is amazing, and it appeared he did it with ease. The corps was also wonderful. Thank you for sharing. It was an honor to get to see this. 🥰
Just heart-achingly beautiful. Thank you SO much for posting this. Such grace.
This Concerto Borocco is amazing. Thank you for sharing
The most beatiful thing in the world, don't know how tostop.
Thank you so much..................
Jimmy
James Reardon MY PLEASURE
Pure rapture. The whole thing. All together. I'll be back tomorrow to watch it again. Another 10 times. To try and make sense of... O.M.G! That was Amazing!!!!
These archives are pure gold. Thank you for sharing.
An eternal masterpiece..to be savored
Lovely ! Thank you John!!🌺🌸
Totally enjoyed this.
Gives me the chills every time…
Can't believe this exists! What a treat! Beautiful video of Suzanne! Just amazing! How I'd love to see her in Symphony in C -- any exist? Thank you so much for these treasures!! 😍😍😍
Brilliant! Thank you so much for uploading. Bach would have been proud.
What a gem. Thank you Mr. Clifford.
So exquisitely beautiful. Thank you so much for uploading.
WOW-WEE!!!!!!!! Dear Mr. Clifford...Oh...Thank you, SO, SO VERY MUCH, for sharing this ONE-OF-A-KIND performance...and talk about a "Wealth of Riches"...Thank you, as well, for ALL the artistically definitive, BEAUTIFUL performances that you continue to, so generously, share on your RUclips channel. I am having the BEST Labor Day weekend ever, watching this and all the other newly downloaded videos of yours, looking forward to repeatedly viewing them and, eventually, all the other ones that you've shared :)
It is so great to thank Mr. Clifford. He has given us immortal beauty.
STUNNING MARNEE MORRIS WAAAAY Ahead of her time and SUZANNE SUBLIME!
ODHanson how can you tell? I really want to learn more of the nuances of these dancers that all make it look so easy. Thankyou!
The way Morris makes it so jazzy coming down the center. Gorgeous. Please if you can describe why Morris was so ahead of her time. Thank you.
I hope you know Marnies solo in Don Q.?
Yes, it doesn’t get better than this.⭐️
Thank you. Priceless.
Sublime. Bach, Farrell, Morris, and Ludlow. What more do you need? Thank you John!
Beautiful!!!!
Masterpiece. I can't imagine how he choreographed it. I wonder how it happened. Did he have a room full of dancers and he said okay you do that and you do that. Was it in a day? A session? Did he work it at home and when he came into the studio already had things in his mind? And isn't hard to remember what step you did?
Very grateful for your uploads. Thank you so much.
The only choreographer that set arms and legs to the music
Holy smoke. I can't believe I just saw this!
Great...Thank you, Mr.Clifford.
Sublime!✨✨✨
Amazing partnering by Ludlow
1. the inspired musik from Bach, 2.the genialuses choreography and 3. the beautiful dancers including the Corps. When i see this i am always enthusiastic again.
Absolutely genius choreography. Bach would be proud.
Thus ballet is great...a total favorite.
Sono mie coetanee che danzano... le più belle creature che mai Dio abbia creato!!! Meravigliose!!!
Any famous names in the corps whom we'd recognize? I agree with the other posters; it's such a treat to watch a young Suzanne and I had never seen Marnee Morris dance before. Thank you as usual for uploading these.
There is no choreographer who could move 8 people in box like formations, many being different. The beginning is quite reminiscent of his snow .... genius
Сьюзанн Фаррелл великолепна красива❤
I remember seeing this back in the day when Balanchine was alive
Does it get any better than this? Suzanne---sigh. No wonder Balanchine went nuts over her!
and Marnee also. never saw her dance. she is amazing. two musical instruments on stage. thanks so much.
never say never , I do think I like Tanaquil just a tad more . Had Tanaquil never been afflicted with polio and was able to continue dancing I believe she would have been the supreme Balanchine ballerina archetype that NYC ballerinas are measured .ruclips.net/video/QGcUVGO75F0/видео.html
@@havenization What do you like about Tannaqil more?
I think there’s a clip of Tanaquil Le Clerq and Diana Adams in this - does anyone know where to find it?
Is the blonde Sarah Leland? And wondering about Stephanie Saland or Lourdes Lopez? I disagree that Farrell was overrated because OMG the adagio, pure fluidity yet crisp and to tempo on the 1st and 3rd movements. I'd forgotten that supported promenade in penchee/alongee in the adagio. But the corps is also brilliant. Connie Ludlow taught out here for a while, and I had the pleasure of attending one of his partnering classes. Learned so much! Thanks for all you post!
No the second soloist is Marnee Morris. This was shot years before Saland and Lopez joined the company. I never heard Farrell was “overrated.”
Was guessing about the corps, since you mentioned it was future-star studded. There's a comment way at the bottom that feels Farrell was overrated. Obviously, lots of us disagree!
Oh God, Suzanne...
Oh beauty!
Nel 1966....il Genio G.Balanchine ...
Concerto Barocco ✨💫♥️
brilliant
I had not thought of this before, but the slow movement seems to be a gloss on "Apollo", esp the pas de deux w/Terpsichore.
queenoftheuniverse Some similarities in a way.
I had the tremendous good fortune to see Apollo at the 1982 (?) Stravinsky festival, with Ms Farrell and others. It was the final program. Mssrs Balanching and Kirstein sand Happy Birthday. Symphony in Three Movements was on the program, as was Persephone, in which I was amazed by Gen Horiuchi's virtuosity.
I'm a retired bassist. I played 1977-98 in the orchestra for the late Cleveland Ballet. We had some Balanchine in our repertoire> I also clocked in 524 Nutcrackers.
queenoftheuniverse Yes. That was the 2nd Stravinsky Festival. Mr. B choreographed to so many scores it’s mind boggling.
Oh the Cleveland Ballet. It makes me so sad whenever I think about losing them.
But the old recording. That someone else has such recordings. The recording is 53 years old.
Yes.
Not sure what you are asking. Yes this is an old recording but still one of the greatest performances of this ballet.
@@jcliff26 I love watching ballet. I do not dance ballet alone. I have a 44 years old. In addition, I am sick of psoriatic arthritis.
Kaczorek Kaczuszkowy I’m glad you are enjoying these. Sorry about your arthritis.
🙏🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖💖💖
Mr. Clifford is that Renee Estopinal in the corps?
Ernest Castro Yes it is.
Thanks for your reply, I didn't think she got into the company so young.
좋아요~
❗❗❗❗❗❗❗
No wonder sf was his muse. Gosh, she is the ballerina of...ballet.
She really wasn’t that special. Just because Balanchine said she was, she was. I watched the other dancers in the beginning and they were every bit just as good as Farrell. Farrell was a tall one with not great feet.
Really? Hmmm. ruclips.net/video/lcV8A0Axkd4/видео.html
the first to do such great 6 oclock penchee!
one might say Balanchine knew a bit about ballet and dancers
Marijke Jongeneel Actually no she wasn’t. Allegra Kent did them years before Farrell joined the company.
@@jcliff26 great, did not know that. see if I can find anything about her
I am crying
