BBC Radio 1 is the reason, they had too much power back then, if it didn't make their play list it didn't chart, which was the case here and with the follow up Dont leave me behind.
Radio 1 made some acts huge but destroyed many others along the way.
Completely only John peel had functional testicalls to play independent music

I recall this release after their first two records and thinking "they've lost the plot!" but no... the plot was still unfolding. And STILL unfolding to this day with "Nothing Left To Lose". An absolute joy forever.
