I also got a cat mug!!!😍😍 The only difficulty was using the rural train station, 2 people and five luggages. Yep, got quite a bit of amazing pieces! 😍😍

That intro was so cinematic! Actually the whole video is 👏🏼 I think your fortune was the best one 大吉 daikichi (although it was in reverse order so not 100% sure if it holds the same meaning!)

This is a really beautiful video! It’s the second of yours that I’ve watched, I watched the one introducing your modern Japanese home.
And I have learned a lot about pottery recently because I have a good friend here in Germany who is a wood-firing ceramic artist and he is very influenced by the ancient Japanese traditions including Wabisabi (if I got the word right?). No two pieces are alike, and if the shape is uneven that’s all the more valuable… Coming out of a wood fire kiln you never know what things will look like, exactly what color the glaze it will turn out etc. It really is a fascinating art! And I sat here watching this video drinking tea out of a cup that a Slovenian friend made this fall in one of his wood firing kilns, poured from a teapot that another ceramic artist woman made. Very fitting!
By the way, the special kiln that the man in one shop mentioned, which is built onto a hill and takes a lot of wood... that’s called a dragon kiln and is really something special. There are only a couple in the world, as I understand it. 💜
Also the park and restaurant that you went to are very special, just beautiful! Trees and leaves and stones and gardens and food and dishes… And hearing bits of the language… Thank you for sharing this!

I loved the bit you mentioned about wabi sabi and how it contrasts western ideals of grandeur and perfection. when i was studying art under western guidance, i felt severe pressure and that nothing was ever good enough. I went to japan last year and took just ONE sumi e class and it's changed my view on my own art and myself. I embrace more the ups and downs of my art and myself.

We have the same taste on pottery style, I've been doing tea ceremony quite a while now, and those tea bowls in the video are so lovely~ Love your picks too, so cute, and I always love the earthy tone on Hagi-yaki. My tea bowls and most of the kitchen wares that I have are mostly Kiyomizu-yaki from Kyoto. Would totally recommend you to stop by Kyoto if you haven't already ;D

So beautiful! ❤️🍵❤️ the pottery drying outside, the first ones with the "lids"/covers are for tea, usually gyokuro a full leaf green tea. The lid is for straining the tea😁. I LOVE Japanese pottery, the Tokoname tea pots and tea cups are TDF, and the Tamba-ware is amazing. Each prefecture has different glazes, and styles❤️.

I smiled all the way through this. This kind of trips with footages of the surroundings and all the little details, may it be the leaves or a statue.. I love it. It calms me down and warms my heart. Thank you for being you and doing this. Lots of love from Sweden! ❤
