These are the exact questions I had. 😆. Thank you for answering them. Much appreciated. 😍
S C you are very welcome!
Excellent Video
It brings me great joy to have discovered your videos. Your content has been immensely beneficial to me.😁🥰🙏
I'm so glad!
I LITERALLY CAN'T thank you enough Miss Nora! You absolutely answered all the questions I had and couldn't find these simple answers. Most videos I found would give part answers to some things and NOT at all clear on others 🙄 Thank you so much 👍🏽🥰
You're so welcome! I am glad it was helpful!😊
I figured that I should probably test the ph in my solution, too. I transitioned quite a bunch of my plants into leca about a month ago and their not particularly doing bad, but some plants have weird newgrowth, and the tips of some plants are more brown than used to be in soil 😢 i have an urge to repot them, but i'm keen to give it a chance. i actually repotted them into leca to simplify the plant chores😮😅
Thank you for sharing beautiful and amazing video
Love your videos Miss Nora! Very informative and love your accent!
Sending love from Marietta, GA, USA ❤️
Thank you for the code for the foliage focus and clone solution. Mines just arrived and so excited to start using them🥰

Fabulous!
Thank you so much for all the detailed information!! You are a plant saver ❣️🪴
You are so welcome!
Thanks for answering questions that I had on my mind!!
Happy to help!
I do mine once a week. Flush and add new nutrient solution. Always use fresh nutrients at about 1/4 of the recommended amount. Mine are also in orchid pots with holes inside of a catch pot. This seems to work very well for my set up. Love your videos Nora💕
Thanks for sharing! It is all about what works for you and your plants.
Thank you so much your explaining so clear for me💐💐

I was wondering about this. Bought leca yesterday and could not figure it out how to water the plant. Thanks! :D
Glad I could help!

Hi Ms. Nora! Thank you once again for such an insightful video! 👏 I appreciate the time and effort you put into each one.
Questions:
1. How do you determine how much of your "Special Sauce" to put into each reservoir?
2. Do you make a new "Special Sauce" each time you water your plants or do you keep the unused "Special Sauce" and just use it the next time you water your plants?
3. How do you water and rinse your larger plants and reservoirs?
Hello, I answered your queries in my q and a session that I know you watched. I hope the answers were satisfactory 😊.
I think after a couple of days, the ph Level of the nutrient solution stops changing. So maybe you can wait a few days, then readjust the ph Level and then use the solution.
Keep the water moving with a little Propeller.
Love your Channel.
Greetings
Please make a video on calatheas in leca if u have any ...... plsssss
This was very helpful! I just started using leca and I was wondering if you need heat mats in the winter or if just grow lights is good enough.
Alexia Luna Thank you! Regarding heat mats, it depends on the temperature in your home. If you can them you should.
I was hoping this was about the plant in the photo of video, I wanted to learn about it , it’s everywhere at work in water . It grows so slow. What causes the tips to blacken and how do I make them grow?
I feel like topping up the solution would be similar to watering your plant in soil daily with whatever is left in your cup in the morning. Sometimes it would be soaked, others dry and it would be filled with pockets of good and bad spots in the soil. And yes, the pH of the soil would eventually suffer as there would be build up and lacking nutrients.
Plus, if the plants in leca are using the nutrient solution, they're going to essentially deplete it
Too true Marisa!
Loving this, what nutrient solution do you use. Thanks
Growth Technology Foliage Focus mainly.
Maybe this was covered in another video. But do you do anything differently with Pon? I've seen you do use it and I know it has some fertilizer in it that lasts for a few months. Do you always add nutrients from the beginning with pon or start adding it after some time?
How do you determine the nutrient water level? Is it a certain depth all around, does it depend on the shape/size of the cache pot, or maybe the length of the plants root system? When you make the nutrient solution it's usually for 1 litre or more. If I only have 1 plant in Leca, can the extra be stored or it would be changing pH as you described, therefore I should only make the exact amount I need, otherwise the rest is essentially wasted? Thanks!
Excellent and informative video! I need to find the nutrients to use for leca.... I live in the USA. I wonder if you can use foliage pro?
Thank you for your kind words and for watching and subscribing, much appreciated! I think you can, but I am not sure. Is it a hydroponic nutrient?
Yes you can
Can NPK fertilizer be added to plants grown in leca and how much is the amount of addition?
I've definitely found that some plants requires fresh nutrients more often than others. On my hardier ones, I usually just top it up, and once in a blue moon I'll rinse my entire collection.
All about what works Greenless Thumb! I am a believer in all about what works! All the best with your plants!😊
@@TheLecaQueen thanks! If it works, it works, if it doesn't work, usually nobody hears about that particular plant again ever haha.
@Greenless Thumb Exactly ha, ha, ha!
Where do you order your containers at? And your reservoir? Would be interested, I live in AK!
I have just started putting my babies in Leca and using foliage focus. But I'm going to have to get distilled water I think because our rain water has been going gross after a few days 😭 I don't know if it's the fertiliser or water but the containers are getting a film ontop literally over night 🤦♀️
I don't know if this is normal or if it's ok to leave it etc.
But I feel like it's such a waste because I would have to use fertiliser every couple of days
Hi Nora, I hadn't really thought of the ph changing. Glad you shared that. Quick question please - Obviously some containers work better with leca than others. Is there some way to tell or measure how wet or dry your leca is other than just going by how it looks? Some of the new self watering pots look like they "might work ok" but don't have a reservoir that allows and of the leca to be fully submerged - so I wonder if plants in those posts will be getting adequate nutrients? Thanks
Stay away from the self watering pots where the inner pot is not actually contained within an outer pot (there’s some that have a removable base but the plant pot doesn’t sit within it), those won’t provide enough contact with the leca for it to wick enough water even if you add a wick.
Also, if the inner pot isn’t a net pot (or similar), I’ll use my soldering iron to put holes into the inner pot to allow for more air exchange/more ability to better sit partially in the water and nutrients.
Hope that helps a bit!
Thanks for the response.
I prefer to have the inner pot in contact with the solution but having said that, I am using some wicking ones and things are going OK. In theory it should be fine especially if the roots have grown into the nutrient solution, which is the basis of the Kratky method.
Thank you Nora! Quick question.... How high up the pot should the nutrient solution come as the cache solution will rise when the plant is added.

@@TheLecaQueen thank you! Just watched it and it was very helpful 💕
Hi, please guide....Can I use Masterblend 4-18-38 fertilizer in my LECA? Thanks
If you can find some magnesium nitrate its possible. Per 1 gallon of nutrient solution use 1.4g each of masterblend and calcium nitrate, 1.65g of magnesium nitrate.
What is nutrients solution
What fertilizer do you use please that has all the micro nutrients the plants need? Many thanks
I use Growth Technology Foliage Focus. Check my community tab for details on this product. Thanks

@@TheLecaQueen I can only find Growth Technology Houseplant Focus here in the UK. I don't know if that's enough for LECA?
Do you pour the fresh nutrient solution in the reservoir or on the plant so it drains to the reservoir?
In the reservoir because then it is easier to see how much nutrient there is to avoid root rot.
hey Nora, I'm disappointed. I have been trying to convert my plants to water for 2 weeks now. I can't take it anymore, I did everything as it was necessary to clean the roots. cleaner you can't. with toothbrush. I've seen videos where it wasn't as clean. in short every 2 or 3 days I change the water because the ph rises and full of rotten roots! no new roots but it continues to rot. so I put some in the sphagnum and I cut all the terrestrial roots of the monstera and I only put the aerial roots in the sphagnum.
Hey, talk to me on Instagram. I want to hear everything.
Can I use rain water instead of tap water ?
You can as long as you are confident it is suitable, ph wise.
To we need to spray the plant with water everday too?
I am not sure what you mean, but the plant always needs to have a reservoir of nutrient solution.
@TheLecaQueen I mean like A foliar spray inaddition to the nutrition in the reservoir
@@deanphung7018 You can use a foliar spray but I wanna say not every day. I don't think the plant would need all that nutrition.
So what do you PH your water too? I have a feeling from the drops you don't..Ph changes over time but not because it's old water. PH is about lower and higher hydrogen ions or acid/alkalinity. Some people have different quality water. They should use filtered water with 1/4 strength fertilizer, any more could kill some plants
I do love your channel, but you left all the tech stuff out. Because my tap water is over 8.4 ph I use vinegar as pH down and it works wonders, you inspired me to try leca. I just want to know what your starting ph is and after you mix your solution what's the pH? I personally think 7 days or less is ideal in semihydro just because the hydrogen ions get reduced and the pH changes, though you can change the pH more with pH down or vinegar or citric acid.
Hello, thank you for watching and commenting. I address pH and what I do in this video: ruclips.net/video/jw5XnLYxCgk/видео.html
I do not regularly check my pH as the water we have here is Melbourne is excellent and I never have to adjust the pH. I hope this video explains why I do what I do.
Do you use the nutrient solution in winter?
I use it all the time. Plants are still growing in winter.
thank you
what does fortnight mean?
Two weeks.
oh ok,thank you@@TheLecaQueen
Wish there was a simple to the point complete guide to growing plants in LECA. What nutrient solution do you use? Does the nutrient solution always give the optimal PH level? There are others who use like 5 different solutions for growing plants in LECA. There's this one youtuber who mentions that your plant will suffer if you don't water it at the right time. Why isn't this discussed?
Hey, I don't know where to start with this. There is a fair bit to learn with leca and I think just a guide would not cut it as there are so many nuances and caveats. There are also different ways of doing things. I am not sure about a plant dying at a specific point. I would need more detail about this to respond adequately.
