    GT Foliage Focus is available in the US on Amazon. That’s what I use on my plants & they’re thriving!
    Chloramine doesn’t evaporate. I doubt any of it does truthfully. I use a drop of tap water conditioner per gallon b4 I add my nutrients.

    Thank you so very much for teaching me this! I ordered my pots, nutrients, Leca, plastic backing, rods, ties, sphagnum moss. I'm going to try to change many of my plants over to Leca. I identified so much with you when you said that when you really got into plants, you acquired many in a short period of time. And then you were faced with the reality of having to take care of them. Using this method will prevent me from my underwatering habit (out of fear) that ends up killing my plants

    This is a very informative video. I don't do LECA but I have a lot of plants growing in water and to feed them, I use a water soluble fertilizer and my plants seem to do well on that. I don't use organic fertilizers at all, mainly because of the smell so I'm on the synthetic side of fertlizing plants. I've also started ti dissolve fertilizer sticks in water and I'm seeing good results so far.

    Some technical content is unavoidable in a subject like this. You have made this content more 'available' to not-very-technical types; just like nutrients in a hydroponic solution are to plants. I'm currently dabbling with semi-hydro (for orchids and having some success) and find your channel content very helpful. Keep it up.

    I’ve heard a lot of water treatment plants (no pun intended) are changing from chlorine to chloramine which does not dissipate after sitting. I have been using a treatment formulated to neutralize the chloramine and counter some of the heavy metals in tap water-sold to treat water for aquariums. What we do for our plants!

    I've been binging your videos while I avoid studying for finals and I'm loving them! I can't believe you don't have a bajillion subscribers.
    I will note, just for accuracy of information (realizing this is nearly a year old and you may know this by now), but, the leaving your tap water out for 24 hours is a myth. Chlorine generally would take longer than a day to evaporate in the quantities most of use them, but more importantly, most municipalities now use Chloramine which is a non-volatile chemical, therefore it will not evaporate. And fluoride, heavy metals, etc. won't evaporate either.
    All that being said, if someone's tap water is working well for their plants, then it clearly isn't a problem! But might save you the extra effort :)
    If anyone does struggle with their water, you can buy aquarium water treatments like API tap water conditioner.
    Okay, info dump over!

      @TheLecaQueen  Год назад

      Interesting. What leca are you using? What is the ph of the water when it is just leca without gt? Are you using anything else? I would examine each component of the situation to try and figure it out.

    • @lilyelune
      @lilyelune Год назад +1

      I'm using leca from the brand "Pflanzwerk". The ph of tap water here after one day is 8,5, distilled water 7, brita-filtered water 6,5, so I thought I should use filtered water from now on. Nothing else, sometimes I use GT Superdrive. Yes, I experimented a little yesterday and the ph of the nutrient solution changes more when in contact with leca/pon and also the one I left in the bottle got a little higher. I found out it might be because the leca/selfmade pon have to be soaked in acid water before using. Maybe the ph of leca also stays lower when it's getting used to the nutrients a few times, or I'm going to use ph-. I'm new to this, I guess I have to experiment some more until it's working. I'm glad I checked the ph after a while tho, otherwise I wouldn't even have found out.
