CNA is a great stepping stone to Nursing. Most people who start off as CNA work towards getting their LPN or RN license. Its a great job to work to gain experience in the field and to guaranteed you a job once your done your studies. Alot of places that employ CNA also employ Nurses so once the CNA becomes a RN they are guaranteed a job! I recommend this job to anyone wanting to obtain an RN or LPN liscence!
I was admitted for a week in a hospital. Bless those nurses that took care of me while I wasn't able to walk for 3 days. I have the deepest respect for nurses and their profession. I remember my roommate did a real number on his bed and the floor around him. I was moved and my nurse had to clean the room.
I did C.N.A work for 4 months and passed both the written and skills test the first time, but hated the job, I am now in Phlebotomy school and love it. It is way better then cna work, it was too much for me and I was in the dementia area too, but I did not enjoy the work at all it was a chore. I love Phlebotomy so much more!!!!
Here in England, we are not certified but are expected to do all basic nursing care. The training you get in the USA seems a lot more structured and organized. I remember my first couple of weeks being very stressful and I was left to learn the job alone. If I didn't ask, I wasn't told; not the best idea is it really?
yes you can im cna and i have a beautiful house in staten island ny and a BMW i just bought i have been a CNA for 5yrs i like my job now im going to take classes for LPN . its all about believeing in yourself you can achieve anything . and thats so true i did it and im a CNA.
Yes CNA work is hard, but not everyone is fit for the job. You need lots of patience to be a CNA. I love being a CNA i love helping the resident who need my help. Yes if you cant handle stress don't be a CNA. Yes the job is hard and when you work in a transitional care unit your role is the biggest. However your taking care of human beings not dolls so its hard. Being a CNA is one of the best moves i have made in my life. Its an great career choice.
I have been a CNA for about 5 years now and yes its a hard job but if you can care for people and help and still move as now I a o2 CNA which I work on a vent/life support unit where I make very good money
I work at 2 years in Granite hospital at Toronto as certified CNA assistant. I got my certifications from onlinecnaclasses. org, it really help me very much in nourishing my skills and abilities.
I am thinking about becoming a cna but am scared I'm not smart enough I have dislexia so studying is hard but I'm older now and feel if I want it I'll overcome it all..anyone else managed to do so? on top off it all I have 6 kids..
Anything is possible! Just follow your dreams and see how it goes! I'm a young High School student and I am very nervous because I have no experience in what it takes to be a nurse but this is what I've always wanted to do. My parents do not approve because they think it is gross to wash/clean up after other people but I would love to do that in order to help others!
I would not recommend this job to anyone. I did it for 4 long hard months, I hated it so much, bathing, dressing, walking, feeding, hygene, vitals, hydrartion, taking to the bathroom, transferring the worst!, charting, abused by patients if they are ornery, just the whole job is horrible. I am a Phlebotomist now. I love my job, I am 9am to 6-pm Mon-Fri, it is so much better than CNA work. I am still certified but I will never go into it again. DO NOT GET INTO CNA WORK! Very stressful job!
This is to all training CNA's, I don't want to sound nasty but you all need to know the truth. The advertising for this job is so misleading! Here's the truth, be prepared to be under constant stress, have some (not all) Doctors and RN's refer to you as "just the na". Much will be demanded of you with little pay to show for all the hard work you put it. Not to mention occasionally you will be hit or right out attacked on the job. ...just saying.
