Synopsis of the Film-
लाला यशोदा नन्दन ने समाज सुधार समिति में दहेज पर लम्बा लेक्चर दिया……सारे नगर में उनकी जय-जयकार हुयी……दूसरे ही दिन बड़े लड़के का तिलक था……तिलक में छोटे लड़के ने भी “दहेज अभिशाप है” पर एकत्रित मेहमानों के सामने बोलने की इच्छा रखी…..लाला यशोदा नन्दन ने लेख-लिख मेज पर रख दिया…..पर यह क्या ?.....जब छोटा-बेटा तिलक उत्सव में भाषण पढ़ता है तो सब दंग रह जाते हैं…..क्योंकि वह गलती से वह पत्र पढ़ देता है जिसे लाला जी के समधी ने उन्हें लिखा था कि वह जब दहेज लोगों की जानकारी के बगैर ले रहे हैं और इससे समाज में लाला जी का सम्मान बढ़ रहा है और दहेज देकर भी समाज में उनका सम्मान घट रहा है तो दहेज में नगद की राशि क्यों न कुछ कम कर दी जाए……लाला जी की पोल पट्टी खुल जाती है उनके राजनीतिज्ञ विरोधी प्रसन्न होते हैं……
Ek Anch Ki Kasar in a simple and entertaining manner gives an eye-opening message to one and all. Most of the times it is the hypcrite amongst us who gets all the acclaim, but, some day, somehow, the cat always comes out of the bag and then the hypocrite finds himself denigrated irredeemably.
The whole city is bustling with admiration for Yashodanand a well-known social reformer. His generous and righteous deed is being praised by one and all. Yashodanand has refused to accept a single penny as dowry in his sons's marriage. The bride belongs to a rich family, who were ready to give a handsome amount as dowry, the true social reformer has refused accept anything but the bride.
During the marriage ceremony every guest is admiring Yashodanand for his commendable deed. Those who sell their sons on heavy price and make a girl's marriage, a terrible ordeal, for her parents are being severely criticised.
Time and again Yashodanand has been criticising and exhorting people to fight the condemnable social evil called dowry and today he has proved himself. A modest Yashodanand in basking in the glory of his praiseworthy deed. On everyone's request the give a touching speech during the ceremony on the evils of dowry.
Then as is the custom in our marriages, Yashodanand's son, a nine year old boy, is also brought to the stage to deliver a pre-written speech. When the boy starts reading from a piece of paper every guest is shell shocked. The innocent boy spills the beans, he has mistakenly brought the letter from the bride's parents which leaves no doubt that Yashodanand has secretly exacted a huge amount in dowry. And the hyprocrite fails to find a place to hide his shameful face.
