Fun fact: Rondo of Nightmare was inspired by Alice in Wonderland. And it was originally titled Kill the Alice but changed on album. Maybe because that titles was too dark for a group that's supposed to be kawaii metal lol.

@@MacTaipan It's falling down a dark hole, nightmare place. Instead of the usual Wonderland.

Nice. Rondo comes around again, so it’s the Nightmare you can’t escape. And summoning circle is a good call, she plays borderline vampire characters at times. It’s largely waltzing 3 counts actually, with a few straight parts, but some really unusual counts in other sections (intro while she’s lifted, & under “ahhh ah ah ahhhhhhh” for ex...). Without the ladies, no doubt it’s metal... people still wanna categorize...

    ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🔥 😱 🔥
Even at sixteen, Su-metal had a unique penetrating clarity to her voice that makes it perfect for metal.
Without having to crank up her volume like a lot of singers, she can still be clearly heard through the heavy drums, bass and guitars.
The title is truncated in the video description. The full title of the first part is 'Mischief of the Metal Gods'.
BTW, you missed a bass string, BOH has six. : )
Have to say, your interpretation was great. I think you really got it.
From her delivery, I like to think that even though the nightmare is unescapable, that Su's spirit is still defiant and cannot be crushed.
BABYMETAL's choreographer Mikiko (who also works with the JPop trio Perfume, and her own dance troupe elevenplay) leaves Su largely alone on her solo songs to develop her own dance expressions.

That was a nice gesture, thank you very much! :-) And as always, I enjoyed your reaction a lot!
And it's one of my favourite songs, I'd say top two (accompanied by Syncopation). Su ist just incredible in this, this song really makes her shine. I particularly love the "Aaaaaaaaaahh" in the middle as well, and the shaking camera supports it nicely. And Ohmura (the second guitarist) is one of my favourites as well, he does not only shred, but also has a good tone and awesome phrasing. Love the bendings in this solo, for example.
Oh, BTW, the bass was a 6-string.
As you have noticed, the song is a bit of a departure from their usual positive messages, but I think they did an awesome job creating this sinister atmosphere with both the lyrics as well as the instrumentation.
More Babymetal, please! :-) If you'd like another great Su solo with awesome vocals, you might want to try "Akatsuki": ruclips.net/video/g2372C5PJLM/видео.html. For yet another new Babymetal side, perhaps try "GJ!", a "Black Babymetal" song (which means Yui and Moa without Su): www.dailymotion.com/video/x542mmn. And then there's an emotional song they created as a tribute to their fans, called "The One", that I think you would love: ruclips.net/video/TZRvO0S-TLU/видео.html.
    Thank you!

ruclips.net/video/KmzPAlvDvgU/видео.html if you want a more aggressive version, check this one out. From a year later using the late Mikio Fujioka their lead guitarist who died last year. That man was a fucking wizard in Japan. The lead guitarist here is Leda Cygnus. Still really good, but more of a speed guitarist than a virtuoso. You can see the difference. Check it out man. They actually have or have had some of the best session musicians in Japan. It REALLY lends itself to how great the band itself is. That mixed with the high energy performance and great work ethic of the girls and Babymetal is dope. Also none of their songs follow a particular play style. You can see like 12 different kinds of metal and non metal in every song, making them all different. So you don't really get bored.

The other thing not mentioned here is that with Babymetal, you have the mystique (call it a backstory) that it was the Fox God that called the members together. That imagery comes into play with nearly everything that they do. However, the backing band here is the Kami God Band (there's another one called the Kami Ghost Band; don't worry about them for now). The Kami God band basically could be seen as a supergroup of Japan's best players that also were assembled by the Fox God for Babymetal. The Intro you are seeing here is called the Mischief of the Metal Gods, which as you can see it is appropriately titled.

Excellent analysis and reaction - and yes it's your channel, do what the hell you like ... rewinding Babymetal to listen again and again to Su-metal is never a bad thing. I think the choreographer Mikiko said something along the lines that Su is like a force of nature and that she feels the music and moves and dances naturally to it (not counting the beats like many others do), so her solos are probably less choreographed (if they are choreographed at all) than all the other Babymetal songs.

Interviewer: She doesn’t dance like ordinary Japanese dancers?
      Mikiko: No, she doesn’t
She would be a great performer in the future, surely I thought.
She’s got her intuition to learn choreography.
She doesn’t memorize choreography by counting the beat.
Instead, she memorizes choreography by hearing the music.
In general, people learn choreography by counting rhythms but she doesn’t.
She’s got this groove in her body, like nothing I’ve seen before.
And this groove comes from her intuition.

You asked about the Mischiefs of god intro meaning. The band is called the Kami band, which is often translated as god but would more accurately be translated as a geist or spirit (like a zeitgeist being a spirit of the times). There are said to be about 8 million Kami, and can be a person, an animal, a plant, or a place. Mt. Fuji has an often accepted Kami associated with it, and there's even a Kami of a fictional character. In this case, the Kami were just referencing the musicians and their insane level of skill playing their hearts out. References for the definitions are from personal research, but very well explained in this video: ruclips.net/video/htxVoNBd5do/видео.html
As far as the whole group including the singers, they are themed around the fox god (Kitsune) who supposedly gave them the calling to become singers. The mask they often wear, and icons in their shows, often portray this Kitsune.

Gotta check out Periphery Blood Eagle, they just dropped this new track yesterday. Btw brah I'm still blown away by you actually pronouncing my last name correctly. Cause no one ever does. Props for that.

Well I'm glad I got it right but I have to admit that it was by complete accident. I usually go out of my way to try and mispronounce your guys' names haha. I'll add Blood Eagle to the list, might have to do it soon since it's new!

Thanks for a thoughtful reaction, I actually enjoyed listening to your commentary. Many reaction videos for Babymetal end up being "Wow, I don't know what to say. Thanks for watching". I love watching when someone has that same "brain freeze" that I had the first time I saw them. I literally had to pause the video and say "what the heck just happened?" But it was interesting to watch you go more in depth about the video and the band in general.

You mentioned epic a lot. :-)
That is what is so amazing about Babymetal to me: how can you make little old girl epic with great metal music.
You also mentioned unholy ? Can you react to Babymetal Death at the Legend 1997 concert, please ?

Thanks for your great reaction/analysis, i liked it. I hope you will do more of this band, there is so much to discover about them, so many different gender of music touch by them... Btw this stage makes me think about a music box with this little doll turing in the center, specially in the a capella part, with the kind of robotic voice. ( wich fit pretty well with the Alice in wonderland theme who originally inspired this song. ) If you plan to do more, maybe you could try a different side of the band, with Tales of Destinies ( tribute to Dream theater ) wich come with The One as the closure of there biggest event at Tokyo Dome www.dailymotion.com/video/x5ggoil or to a more rockish songs like Headbanger www.dailymotion.com/video/x5eiw8i or Syncopation www.dailymotion.com/video/x5hkrfk
Be sure these links are the best versions of theses songs, and it would be great to watch you react to them, BUT you should be aware that RUclips will block almost all of theses videos that incorporate audio. The best way round this is to mute the video and provide a link that we can open in a new window and sync with yours or at least make a few pause into it.

During the "Mischiefs Of God" intro as it occurs, and it gets to the drummer's solo part, for me I actually think it is a sort of a break for Hideki Aoyama considering the brutal pace he keeps up with throughout all the live performances of BABYMETAL and the Kami (God/spirit) Band. That solo is a piece of cake to him comparatively...LMAO

Time to recommend Huntress - "Zenith" again
    Also, Nekrogoblikon - "Powercore"
Also also, Carpenter Brut - "Turbo Killer," just to try something a little different
(Recommending the official videos for all of those, btw)

I could listen to the scream (12:00 ...and 12:15) on endless repeat, which perhaps isn't a healthy sign...
If you're interested in more Japanese metal (with another great female singer) I would recommend Unlucky Morpheus. I think you would appreciate their song CADAVER/REVADAC (ruclips.net/video/_yrNRhIreyE/видео.html). It's probably worth reading the description before though.
I'm a recent subscriber to your channel, really enjoy that you actually has something to say about the songs, not just the basic platitudes repeated on most reaction/review channels!
